Robinson under pressure to withdraw from gubernatorial race North Carolina Republicans are bracing Thursday morning as word spreads about a damning news story looming regarding Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson. Sources with direct knowledge have spoken with Carolina Journal on the condition of anonymity and said that Robinson is under pressure from staff and members of the Trump campaign to withdraw from the governor’s race due to the nature of the story, which they say involves activity on adult websites in 2000s. According to sources, Robinson has resisted withdrawing and privately denies the story. Thursday evening is the state deadline to withdraw from the race. The deadline to remove Robinson’s name from the ballot already has passed. There are just four weeks to go until early voting, and absentee ballots are due to go in the mail Friday.

The JD Vance interviews on Meet the Press, Face the Nation and CNN are all amazingly bad. Maybe Trump realizes this. What am I saying? Trump probably thinks they are good for him in some way. -

VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: Donald Trump was fired by 81 million people. So, let's be clear about that. And clearly, he is having a very difficult time processing that. But we cannot afford to have a president of the United States who attempts as he did in the past to upend the will of the voters in a free and fair election. And I'm going to tell you that I have traveled the world as vice president of the United States. And world leaders are laughing at Donald Trump. I have talked with military leaders, some of whom worked with you. And they say you're a disgrace. And when you then talk in this way in a presidential debate and deny what over and over again are court cases you have lost, because you did in fact lose that election, it leads one to believe that perhaps we do not have in the candidate to my right the temperament or the ability to not be confused about fact. That's deeply troubling. And the American people deserve better. DAVID MUIR: I'll give you one minute to respond, Mr. President. FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Let me just tell you about world leaders. Viktor Orban -

Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country. Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth. I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades. I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story. With love and hope, Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady Taylor Swift | Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. I may try to watch the debate because of my interest in Harris. I'll likely mute Trump in the same way I have mentally being do so since 2015. I feel sorry for people who actually try to listen to him. -

Yes. Lichtman has always been around. He shows up in the media every four years to talk about presidential elections, but he got more attention than usual earlier this year because he was one of Biden's biggest defenders before Biden dropped out. -

Lichtman was waiting till now is see whether there would be a significant third party challenger (no), whether there would be sustained social unrest (no), and what developments would happen in foreign policy (still undetermined). But even if the foreign policy developments are bad for the Democrats, it would *not* be enough for Harris to lose. -

I've noticed this too. The Harris campaign has repeatedly called themselves "the underdog" and hinted that their internal polling isn't as good as public polling. I think this is pretty obvious strategy on their part, but if it works, I'm good with it. -
