  1. There's also more to life than complaining about every little thing and about what other people choose to like. People are going to like what they choose to like. We shouldn't have to stop liking something just because you personally choose to dislike it. This isn't limited to liking Japanese animation.
  2. Japanese animation is very broad. People, especially adults with narrow-minded views automatically believe it's Japanese cartoons meant for little boys. All the while, those same narrow-minded people will be quick to bum rush kids to the movie theaters to go see the latest animated movie by Disney. Before Anime was ever created, there was Manga. Originally, Manga or Japanese comics and comic books started as being political cartoons, during the 1920's and '30s. In fact, Mecha Manga which is very political, was the beginning of Manga. Over time, Japanese comics and animation evolved into other genres and sub-genres meant for a wide variety of demographics. There is Anime and Manga meant for children, teenage boys, teenage girls, men and women of different sexual orientations, and so on. Unlike some Anime fans, I am not obsessed with it. However, I do enjoy watching animation in general especially Japanese animation. I enjoy watching Slice Of Life, Comedy, Action, Supernatural, Horror, Drama, Music, and Romance Anime meant for different genders, age groups, sub-cultures, sexual orientations, hobbies, interests, etc. It is also fascinating to explore Japanese culture, religions, and entertainment through animation. Honestly, it is much more entertaining than what qualifies as "entertainment" today here in America. I don't want to watch Reality TV on every local, cable, and satellite network, much less watch, listen, and read complaining for the sake of complaining ad nauseam. I want to be entertained. Not bored to death, especially by a bunch of complainers. Talk about a mood killer.
  3. Over the years, I have learned that there is quite a bit of infighting with Dragon Ball fans. I was never a fan of the Dragon Ball franchise. Therefore, their fan base's views cannot shape my views about liking Black Clover. What some may like, other people will dislike and vice versa.
  4. Speaking of Sword Art Online, I never had the chance to watch it, when it was on the Toonami block. If anything, I mostly read and saw a bunch of complaints online about "tentacle rape" being in it. Since I had to learn about Asian Art & Architecture for my BA years ago, we were exposed to wooden carved paintings with illustrations of tentacle sex and whatnot. We also learned a little about Manga and Anime illustrations. This included knowing which audience a certain Anime and Manga was meant for. If I ever have time out of my hectic schedule, I may try watching at least episode 1 of Sword Art Online to see what all the fuss is about. As for Dimension W, it simply could not keep my attention. It felt like I was watching a boring version of Chobits.
  5. I don't frequent MAL. If they are some of the same groups of fans, that have to complain about every little thing known to man, I especially don't care interact with them, much less read their gripes about much of anything because I know it's extreme bias. LOL!
  6. I thought more posters could use a good laugh(s), or at least try to anyway. I can't remember if I ever shared Noein's outtakes on this board at all or not, since I don't post on here that much. If I ever did, consider it a duplicate thread. Just a quick reminder, you can expect some raunchy jokes.
  7. Quite a few nit pickers did throw tantrums on at least another forum about My Hero Academia being overlooked for Black Clover. Like you said, there were also those other nit pickers comparing Asta to Naruto, how Black Clover was a "Naruto ripoff," and about Asta's screaming. Without a doubt, I can see some of Asta's similarities to Naruto and Yuno's similarities to Sasuke. I can especially see Vanessa's similarities to Bleach's Rangiku and how Asta's sword looks somewhat similar to Ichigo's Zanpakuto. In addition, the Black Bulls somewhat remind me of Bleach's Squad 11. Yami's personality somewhat reminds me of Kenpachi Zaraki's except he looks like a better looking version of Mugen from Samurai Champloo and the protagonist of One Piece combined. Black Clover is like a hybrid of those shows with similar looking characters except they have different twists to their stories and characteristics.
  8. Mochi will find a way to make straight characters gay because he desperately wants them to be gay. Otherwise, he will complain about characters, which ARE gay, NOT being gay enough for him or fitting his personal fantasies and narrative. It has been this way for YEARS. As for the Gundam franchise, I have tried getting into the series, but simply can't. Out of all the Mecha Anime, I think this is the only Mecha Anime I could never get into. I believe this is mostly because Gundam has such a large cast of characters, that I would have to start from the very beginning of the franchise to understand the plot and the background connections to each character(s).
  9. Whether any type of show has gay characters or not, you will STILL find a reason to whine about something. Yuri, Yaoi, and Shonen Ai Anime exist but you hate watching them because homosexual characters aren't depicted the way YOU want them to be depicted yet claiming, that Japan is "homophobic." Years ago on Lithium, you spammed the board with more than dozens of threads obsessing over Sailor Moon Crystal, how it should be aired on Toonami, and just about anything related to the GLBT. Now, you don't like Sailor Moon Crystal or want it on the block. You are never satisfied and can never make up your mind about much of anything you want.
  10. Neither are meant for children. If there were actual gay characters on both shows, you would probably like them... Or not.
  11. I never considered Tokyo Ghoul to be a "complete disaster." I will admit, that it would've been a lot better to give us viewers a much better understanding of the plot and main characters rather than adding in random characters, but Tokyo Ghoul was not as horrible as certain viewers want to make it. Reading the summaries about the characters and the plot was a lot easier to understand. Tokyo Ghoul is actually very political, when you really pay closer attention to the series. You have certain ghouls, that are radical extremists, terrorists groups, and humans that are like crooked cops in law enforcement. Then, you have the innocent people and ghouls, that are automatically lumped in with the worst of the ghouls.
  12. I never had any problems watching Black Clover to begin with on the block. Normally when a show is about to premiere, I try my hardest to keep an open mind. Since the time Black Clover premiered, I found it to be entertaining. I believe the character, Asta was meant to be loud and obnoxious on purpose. Look at the amount of times Yami has yelled at Asta to shut up because he is so loud. Even though Asta is highly passionate and ambitious, the protagonist is meant to be loud, hyper, and obnoxious on purpose. Those characteristics instantly annoy other characters and it shows in every episode.
  13. You do realize that Tokyo Ghoul is actually a Seinen Horror Action Anime and not the stereotypical, Shonen Jump Action Anime, right? It seems like it's mostly the same Toonami viewers, who complained about Tokyo Ghoul, are the same, who complain about Black Clover. Like I said earlier, I post on other forums. They don't complain about Tokyo Ghoul or Black Clover 24/7 the way Toonami fans and this community complains about anything in general. In fact, I actually have friends and have met people in public, who like Tokyo Ghoul. It really comes down to the target demographics and sub-cultures. If you think the most recent shows, that have aired on Toonami are so terrible, you probably have never watched Ikki Tousen. Now, THAT Anime was and still is terrible. Every Anime is not going to be perfect. I'm willing to admit, there are some terrible shows. However, when it comes to Tokyo Ghoul and Black Clover, it really boils down to which demographics they are trying to attract. Are they trying to attract adult Horror fans? Are they trying to attract fans who like Bleach, Naruto, and/fans of similar fan bases? Casual viewers, who like watching animated comedies? etc. Everyone has different tastes in shows and aren't guaranteed to like everything, that Pokemon fans like.
  14. You know, if you guys spent less time nit picking and over analyzing shows and the characters to death, you could actually learn to enjoy a show a lot more. Yes, it's great to see the big picture, especially when there are some flaws to a character(s) and a series. However, it doesn't mean you have to complain for the sake of complaining every second about something. Out of all the forums I have joined over the years, this is the ONLY community, that always has a gripe about something or someone. This is not limited to only Toonami posters. I'm speaking in general, when it comes to ASMB's community. It makes me wonder if anyone from ASMB knows how to enjoy much of anything in life without it requiring something mean-spirited, divisive, and/ back-handed. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, turn it off. Personally, I have no problem watching Black Clover. Then again, the main reason why so many viewers were so quick to hate this series was because they were whining about Black Clover being chosen over My Hero Academia. Maybe in the near future, My Hero Academia will be acquired. In the meantime, you're not required to watch a show that you hate.
  15. This episode is clearly showing classism at its best. The royals think they are superior to everyone in Hage Village and view the villagers as lowly peasants.
  16. Speaking of Oingo Boingo, I could not resist the urge of posting Oingo Boingo's classic music video, "Weird Science." It was the theme song for the movie, Weird Science back in the '80s.
  17. Midler is the name of the stand user and High Priestess is her stand. Star Plantinum knocked all of her stand's teeth out, which also knocked out Midler's teeth. Whenever a stand takes a beating, the stand user also takes a beating with them.
  18. If memory serves me right, Rose was the name of the stand. I get the sense that it was named after Bette Midler's song, "The Rose." BTW: "The Rose" is a depressing song, that always made me bawl my eyes out, whenever listening to it on the radio growing up. Meanwhile, Midler is the stand user named after Bette Midler.
  19. That sucks. Considering that some of the current shows have dark content, I think it would be nice to have Black Butler as a latest addition to the block. I would suggest Vampire Knight but it needs a re-dub, in my opinion. The dub is not terrible, but I think there should be a re-casting for Kaname, Yuki, and Zero, since they are the main characters. The current English dub voice actors don't bring out their personalities. With Kaname Kuran, he needs to have a dark yet seductive voice. Someone like Patrick Seitz or Crispin Freeman could've worked. Zero Kiryu needs to have a voice actor, who sounds angry and resentful. I think Johnny Yong Bosch or Yuri Lowenthal could've played the role of Zero and his evil twin brother better. As for Yuki (the protagonist), I would've suggested Laura Bailey but she was casted as Maria. Anyway, I digress. LOL!
  20. I'm actually surprised that Anime News Network never bothered to announce, that Stardust Crusaders' "Battle In Egypt" Arc was premiering last Saturday night. As far as shows go, I hope Blue Exorcist's 2nd season does eventually get acquired. However, it would be much better to re-air Season 1 for a recap. Then follow it up with Season 2. Meanwhile, I still say Black Butler should be acquired for the block. Some may be opposed to Black Butler, but there is quite a bit of action in it. Also, the series is meant for an adult audience.
  21. Also, if memory serves me right, the name of the stand, Death 13 is more of a reference to Friday The 13th besides trying to kill victims in their sleep like Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare On Elm Street. This arc in particular has so many types of references, that it's hard to catch them all. Like I said earlier, the music references pretty much eclipse the horror references in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
  22. When it comes to Phantom Blood, Araki was supposedly influenced by Bram Stoker's Dracula. Meanwhile, Stardust Crusaders and Diamond Is Unbreakable supposedly have more horror references in them, according to what other fans have been saying. I forgot to mention that Mannish Boy (the baby stand user) has the stand, Death 13. Death 13's tactics are a lot like Freddy Krueger's from A Nightmare On Elm Street. Much like Freddy Krueger, he attacks his victims in the dreamworld. In other words, he tries killing them in their sleep.
  23. Even though the music references eclipses the horror references, there is indeed horror throughout this franchise. There are quite a few references to Stephen King's works alone in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, especially in Stardust Crusaders. Look at the constant mentioning of stands. That is a reference to Stephen King's novel and miniseries, The Stand. Jotaro's last name is Kujo, which is a nod to the rabid dog, Cujo. Although, it really wouldn't surprise me if the dog's temperament is meant to be like the Saint Bernard from Cujo besides him being named after Iggy Pop. Then, there is that red possessed car, which is a nod to King's Horror novel and film, Christine. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Hirohiko Araki references to Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive next.
  24. It's predictable. Every time Joseph flies a vehicle, you can expect a crash.
  25. More like Iggy Pop. Not that I'm trying to plug my own thread, but if you go to Music, there are music references explained for Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, and Stardust Crusaders in it.
