Are you saying The Funimation Channel no longer exists? I never had it but when Colours TV existed 10 years ago, it aired The Funimation Entertainment block, during Primetime. The block ran until midnight, 7 days a week. Meanwhile, Jason DeMarco contradicts himself too much. When he launched Toonami on Adult Swim in 2012, he claimed the block would air more shows with more adult themes because veteran Toonami viewers became adults. Supposedly he wanted to "grow up Toonami viewers." That's why it now airs on Adult Swim. DeMarco also claimed the block wouldn't be airing the same shows, that aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami. This would be Shonen Jump Anime franchises such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto. Don't get me wrong. I still like watching Naruto (especially uncensored), but most of the shows currently airing are fanboy centric, Shonen Jump Anime with war and "anti-hero" themes. Yes, you can argue that war themes are mature, which they are. At the same time, when the protagonist and most of the main characters are prepubescent, it can actually cheapen the content on Adult Swim, in some way. Personally speaking, I don't always want to look at some male protagonist, that is 9-15 years old trying to be the boss of his country or village, or be cold, indifferent, oblivious, and possibly misogynistic towards the opposite sex. Why does Jason DeMarco have to air shows, that mostly appease fanboys when there are men AND women watching the block and would like to see more variety?

The buffering ads are already obnoxious to deal with on a constant basis. Nearly 2 weeks ago, I had to keep reloading my page to watch a show. Before I could do so, buffering ads popped up and froze the media player on Crunchyroll. I dealt with this for 2 days. I was so sick of dealing with Crunchroll's media player, that I went to Viewster. It has the same show I was trying to watch on Crunchyroll and Viewster's media player is a lot like Crunchyroll's media player from 2006, which actually WORKS. I didn't have to deal with buffering commercials freezing up my screen or reloading it. It's really the advertisements that tend to cause the most problems on Crunchyroll and Hulu. I understand that commercials pay for the shows. Anytime their commercials hijack and freeze media players, which keeps viewers from watching something, that's a major problem. It also doesn't help that Crunchyroll gets hacked and can't support the number of viewers trying to watch streams.

With those streaming sites locking episodes to force people to sign up to watch shows, and constantly hounding us for our social media accounts to watch a single episode, while their media players buffer with commercials, it's pointless. I have Standard Speed Internet. Trying to watch shows on Crunchyroll and Hulu is like trying to watch a video on friggin' Dial-Up. It's that bad on my end.

When I had more time, I used to binge watch more shows. Then again, streaming sites like Crunchyroll and Hulu didn't require you to sign up to watch a single episode of something the way they do now. That's besides needing to have access to your social media account to trackerstalk what you watch, while sitting through buffering commercials, that freeze before you can watch anything.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Back 12 years ago, when Toonami was still on Cartoon Network, I saw actual YouTube clips of School Rumble being aired on Toonami in Europe. I think it was Italy, that had their dub of School Rumble for the Toonami block. I was shocked, that they aired it on their Toonami and not here. Toonami in other countries always got the better shows. We always get the stereotypical Shonen Jump Action Anime. Not that I hate Shonen, but it would be refreshing to see something different. Considering that other cable/satellite channels only started airing Anime to compete with Toonami and Adult Swim Anime years ago, this would be the right time to bring back more of it to TV. I don't know about everyone else, but I would much rather watch shows on TV than online. The media players buffer too much, especially Crunchyroll's media players, since the time they became "legit" in 2009. I enjoy watching my shows without the screen buffering every second. Speaking of other cable and satellite channels, El Rey Network will supposedly be airing Anime soon. I don't know when. I have been hunting around online for more news about it.

Black Clover Page 15 Discussion
PurgatoryGirl replied to mochi's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Yes, and if you have such negative bias, why are you posting threads for it? Honestly, I normally ignore most clickbait threads. This is especially when they are made by divisive posters, who feel the need to always complain about certain shows. In your case, that would be just about everything that doesn't promote the GLBT agenda 24/7. You have to remember, there are those of us, who want to watch a show in peace without you always complaining about a fictional character not being gay enough for you, or that something or someone is always "homophobic." There's more to life than someone's sexual orientation and sexuality. When are you going to grasp that concept? -

Well, it's a good thing I wasn't wearing my glasses when I saw it. My eyes would've been hurting more with them on because they would've maximized the hideousness. *cringe* -

A Seinen Action Anime That Never Aired On Adult Swim
PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
I kept hearing about Birdy: The Mighty over the last several years, but have never personally watched it. I did try watching Casshern Sins, when it premiered during Toonami's relaunch/revival. However, I could not get into watching it.- 11 replies

DeMarco Tweets Toonami's Future Full Of "NEW" Stuff
PurgatoryGirl replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It's mostly a matter of Japanese puns translating well, especially when it comes to inside jokes that only Japanese people and people, who speak the language would understand. -

I don't sit around saying "subs for life!" or whatever. If it sounds decent in English, I like it. However, there are times when dub are terrible. -

I watch Anime both dubbed and subbed. Sometimes dubs are better than subs and vice versa. Sometimes dubs and subs are both good. I'm not that nit picky like certain viewers are. -

As much as I would like to see Gintama dubbed to be aired on TV, I know it won't translate well with American viewers. This is especially if they are casual viewers with little knowledge about Japanese entertainment, culture, and pop-culture references. -
A Seinen Action Anime That Never Aired On Adult Swim
PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
Even if it is not the newest Seinen Anime to be released, networks could still air them. It seems like most fans care more about how new a series is when there are usually some, that are decent but constantly get ignored. Also, it would be more refreshing to see something different than the stereotypical Shonen Jump Action Anime. Don't get me wrong. I don't hate Shonen Anime but there needs to be more expansion and variety. Watching the same type of Anime gets boring after a while.- 11 replies

A Seinen Action Anime That Never Aired On Adult Swim
PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
Getting back on topic, in my opening post of this thread, I posted the link to Viewster. Viewster has the online streams of Tenjho Tenge. Even though the site's Anime selection is limited compared to other online streaming sites, it is "legit." Viewster's media player looks a lot like Crunchyroll's original media player from 2006. That was before Crunchyroll became "legit" in 2009 with buffering ads in its media players. The quality of Crunchyroll's media players have been terrible, since 2009. That's not including the fact, that more viewers use the site now and it's constantly being hacked. Anyway, if you want to watch Tenjho Tenge, click on the link above and it will take you to the video.- 11 replies

A Seinen Action Anime That Never Aired On Adult Swim
PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
The network still has yet to air Black Lagoon's 5 OVA's, Roberta's Blood Trail. If DeMarco ever thought about doing something for the Memorial Day Weekend, Roberta's Blood Trail would be perfect for a Memorial Day Marathon.- 11 replies

DeMarco Tweets Toonami's Future Full Of "NEW" Stuff
PurgatoryGirl replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I just remembered. Since DeMarco loves replaying old Adult Swim Anime, how about bringing back Witch Hunter Robin? I haven't watched that in years. I wouldn't mind seeing Case Closed again, too. However, I won't hold my breath about it. -

PurgatoryGirl replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It would actually be a lot better if Adult Swim went back to airing Anime on the weeknights again like they did, in the early 2000's. There was more variety in Anime genres and sub-genres. I wouldn't mind seeing the network air Tactics, Tokyo Majin, Devil May Cry, Shiki, Tokko, etc. in regards to Horror Anime. Seeing more shows with Martial Arts themes wouldn't hurt either as long as it's not the God-awful, Ikki Tousen. As for Comedy, I wouldn't mind seeing Gintama. Does it have a dub yet? I haven't watched Gintama in years. Then again, it's probably better in Japanese because the Japanese puns and pop-culture references wouldn't translate well with American viewers. Does Nichijou have a dub yet? -
A Seinen Action Anime That Never Aired On Adult Swim
PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
Honestly, I'm still very surprised that Adult Swim actually aired the Hellsing Ultimate OVA's. Years ago, I remember them saying that they wanted to air Elfen Lied but they claimed they would have to butcher the first few minutes of the series with censorship because of the full frontal nudity.- 11 replies

A Seinen Action Anime That Never Aired On Adult Swim
PurgatoryGirl replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
Oh really? Normally, Adult Swim doesn't air OVA's for a series. I probably missed Wolf's Rain's OVA's on Adult Swim years ago, since the network always aired the better Anime at midnight, when most people are sleeping. It wasn't until I started watching the series online years ago, that I had the chance to see Wolf's Rain in its entirety.- 11 replies

and will never air on Adult Swim's version of the Toonami block is Tenjho Tenge. In 2006, Fuse TV aired Tenjho Tenge in its entirety. Even though the network censored a few scenes like panty shots, at least Fuse aired every episode, including the OVA's. Tenjho Tenge's OVA's were basically the last 2 episodes of the series. Considering that Adult Swim never aired the OVA's for Wolf's Rain and Black Lagoon to complete each show's season years ago, the network would probably do the same for Tenjho Tenge. That's if Toonami ever gave it a chance to air on the block (not holding my breath). Watching episode 1 of Tenjho Tenge may seem a really cheesy, but there is more to the plot as you watch each episode. It's most definitely better than Ikki Tousen hands down. When saying that, I mean there's more to Tenjho Tenge than panty shots. http://www.viewster.com/serie/1313-19709-000/tenjho-tenge/#

I take the critics at ANN worth a grain of salt most of the time. I used to listen to their ANNCast years ago and they annoyed the hell out of me. They spend more time condescending and insulting Anime and fans than anything. That's when they're not brow beating other owners of other online streaming sites about how they stream shows online. Honestly, I don't know how an old college friend of mine, who happens to be a reviewer at ANN can stand them.
