Ah. I barely know myself. I only know from my MFA peer that it's stressful as hell, but it could be extra stressful for him because he got a six-figure book deal for Ginny Moon.

You find an agent or agency you like and you send them an email. That's about it. That, and writing the story.

Sending the idea of your story (and a few pages of a manuscript) to an agent, hoping they'll ask to read more.

Time to start sending query letters.

Y'all it took me almost a whole damned day to realize I wrote 201 words, and not 201 pages. I'm sending my diploma back.

These are my bug-stomping boots. I'm here to bug-stomp.

A big deal mostly for being an extra day off, so it's a little less superficial than simply a change in schedule I guess, but it still feels like a silly thing to be really excited about.

Having Saturday off. My new heels. My new cosmic leggings.

Doris Day was born in 1922.

Weirdly enough, in grad school, many public unis have the top rankings. The Writer's Workshop at the University Iowa admits one of the highest number of writers of any MFA department, at around 25 students in each program. (Mine admitted 12) Yet, IWW is the most well known, and because of IWW's competition, it's still one of the difficult schools to be accepted into.

and my story is at 201 pages. Another 50-75 and I think I'll have my first draft done. The best part is these last pages are mostly climax/showdown-y stuff, so a lot of the early draft really breezes through to write.
