Leader of incel movement gets laid; betrays community
Icarus27k posted a topic in General Discussion
For those who don't know what an incel is, congratulations. You're better not knowing, but alas, I am going to inform you. It's a subculture of men who are proud of being so horrible that they can't attract any girlfriend/boyfriend/etc. It's more than just being physically unattractive in their minds. They also go out of their way to be assholes and otherwise antisocial. Anyway, one of their leaders is like "hey, sex was amazing" and a bunch of his followers are like, "gasp. How could you!" -
2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences
Icarus27k replied to NewBluntsworth's topic in Current Events
Also, the 2022 midterm elections add an unusual perspective on Biden. Usually, presidents, even those who win reelection (Clinton, Obama), have REALLY BAD midterms before they are reelected. But Biden's midterm in 2022 wasn't that bad for him. That may be evidence that voters are being asked to decide between crazy and normal and then choosing normal. Perhaps if the circumstances were normal Dem Party vs normal GOP, Biden would have had a really bad 2022 midterm. If Trump sticks around, I don't see the dichotomy changing. -

Biden represents the average, competent president. The kind that is more likely than not to win reelection. Like how the three presidents before Trump won reelection. -
2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences

In Biden vs. Trump, the state of Georgia will vote for Biden. My anecdotal evidence tells me people here gave up on Trump like one year into his presidency and have seen enough of that nonsense. Which would be the whole presidential election if Biden wins Georgia, in my opinion. -

I can't recall a single thing Tucker Carlson said on his Fox News show. That's his vapid contribution to pop culture.

Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground
Icarus27k replied to Jman's topic in Current Events
I often compare people who complain about social media (many of them powerful people now, like lawmakers) to just people who complained because they got banned from a message board. Like, it's NOT a federal case. You just got banned and are bellyaching about it. Remember when Trump got banned from Twitter in 2021, and he went through all the phases some one does? He tried to use a bunch of alt accounts in quick succession to get around the ban, all of which got banned too. -

This is from a meteorologist saying it could be much farther south than others are saying ( the purple line). -

I've tried Hive. It's not too bad. I just didn't keep up with it because of my aversion to not wanting to learn a new online thing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hive_Social -

Also, the New York Times' check mark is back. Weeks ago, Musk singled out their account and took away its checkmark because the Times announced they wouldn't be paying for verification. -

For unknown reasons, the blue check marks are returning to accounts that haven't paid for them. Looks like another Musk whim. -

Hey! Do you want to see a billionaire beg for money from other people? Want to see him have to do it the most public way possible? Here you go. -

Now it's getting into begging people to buy something territory. You can tell Twitter is really relying on income from this. -

Someone said the brilliant businessman negotiated himself from $20 (the original proposed cost for Twitter Blue) to -$8 (the amount he paid for King to keep his checkmark).
