  1. As much as I like on air reveals, Toonami really needs some W’s right now. We are on the edge of it being May and have only had a single thing added to the block since the start of the year. AoT will probably be one of their biggest things of the year, 7 or less days of promotion is no good. Plus, announcements are usually made during the first show, which a lot of people will likely skip this week. We still have a few hours left for something to go up on Facebook, let’s hope something appears.
  2. It’s kinda funny that Demarco actually bit the bait though. It’s very obviously an insincere post but he took it seriously anyway. Ok, but why was this NEVER a thing prior to around 2020? There were the occasional hiccups, like Mob and Food Wars, but when those happened, they gave us a reason that made them outliers. These days, we never get schedules on time. Now and then, the schedules don’t even have anything new on them. It’s really hard to believe that nearly every schedule update for the past 3 years or so has been late because Japan wouldn’t let them announce.
  3. Hopefully this just means Crunchyroll is being a jackass about AoT and not an admittance they don’t even have anything secured.
  4. Realistically, airing any of their shows on the block has little, if any effect on potential CR viewers. But that hasn’t stopped them from being petty as hell about it since 2018. CR still has a long way to go to prove that they are a supportive ally to the block.
  5. For Dr Stone and other possible CR pickups, we also have to consider how CR has taken what AS did with MHA here. They made them stall with reruns for 5 weeks before it started, for no discernible reason other than putting a larger gap between the CR dub release and Toonami airing. Doubling down once or twice probably wouldn’t have been anything to sweat, but 6 weeks in a row to an end of only being 2 weeks behind the simuldub may put the block into another CR embargo scenario. An optimistic viewpoint would be that CR encouraged them to blast through MHA to get on Dr Stone or something else, but so far we have seen absolutely no evidence CR would do something like that for the block, so I find it difficult to think positively when it comes to CR.
  6. To me, comments like these make leaks seem more realistic. “Hey that super negative review that’s going around is total baloney just don’t read it DONT READ IT STOP!!!!” Then people like that will likely push a “real” review in a few weeks that Netflix paid to sing praises.
  7. Still dumb cause they know better than anyone that their schedules go live 2 weeks out. At least with AoT we can give them some benefit of the doubt that CR is being a jackass about it. If Titan is the 4/29 answer, I won’t hold it against them too much for that being late since it’s news is directly tied to CR. Beyond that, I’m not affording them any further leeway. They have been burning off MHA for 2 months now, the paperwork for its replacement should have been settled weeks ago, if not months. There is absolutely no reason to not have a double schedule reveal. One week for Genndy’s thing, and the following week for what takes the other slot after the double premier. Don’t leave us hanging, we have been strung along week to week long enough.
  8. Business as usual unfortunately. We should hear something by the end of the week. Though, you’d think having like 2 months of preparation for this, they could have gotten this schedule out on time.
  9. I always love people that write an entire dissertation on why a leak is no good, as if they know any better. It could be all horseshit the person made up, or they could have legitimately found some inside info somewhere. Unless you are actually on the staff you know as much as we do.
  10. Demarco said when it happened that Toonami lost all fan art privileges, including for their Facebook page. Apparently they trust the intern in charge of the AS twitter account to actually vet the content before posting it. Had fanart continued, I think someone could have snuck the Daily Dose into some artwork.
  11. He genuinely believes Taint is still relevant. He is stuck in the very brief time period where Taint was significant enough to open for Papa Roach. As Meatwad would say, I got it. It ain’t making me laugh, but I got it.
  12. You completely missed the joke. Theo’s entire gimmick is that he is a washed up 90s rockstar. He genuinely believes Matt would know who those bands are because Theo listened to them when they were popular, roughly 30 years ago. Then they lay it on even thicker when he has to google Post Malone.
  13. So instead they are just going to blatantly advertise wrong? I’d rather believe they simply made a mistake over them intentionally doing it wrong. And like I said, this is far from the first time they advertised wrong, and in the past they actually did get the guy to come in an say 12:30. I doubt they will this time, but that’s a silly excuse.
  14. This happens a lot. I feel like the team in charge of promos is entirely separate from the team who schedules. They had to make a late promo this week and obviously did not get the memo that it’s not at midnight this week. And you never know, they may do this intentionally to try to salvage viewership for the night.
  15. My ears picked up on it the first couple of times the commercial for it aired. It’s super rare to hear her outside of Naruto so I was skeptical but there was just no one else it could be. Has there been a full cast list reveal? I’m interested in which other voices I should be listening for. I know Stephanie Sheh is the executive girl at the office, but I’m so used to her Hinata/Orihimie voice I may not have picked up on it.
  16. Seems kind of boneheaded if that’s the case. As much as we bemoan Primal reruns, I don’t think swapping in a different rerun would really change anything performance wise. Dropping their most powerful lead slot asset nearly 2 months early just to do a rerun no one will care about isn’t a good use of their limited resources. Titan mania ended quite a few years ago. I can’t see there being much of a weeknight audience for that, for like 80 straight weeknights. It’s novel to watch things once a week on Toonami, it gets much harder to sell vs streaming when you ask people to dedicate daily time to something.
  17. They would if they marketed that way. Give it a mascot, Steve the Stellar Starfish, he loves watching all of Disney’s wonderful properties in a pineapple under the sea. Disney has the power to do something like that. WB, not so much. And that makes this come off as yet another thoughtless rebrand.
  18. Wubalubadubdub Morty-sama. I have invented the waifu beater 9000.
  19. I just don’t see a point in adding extra time when they are still struggling to just fill the time we have. We still don’t have a replacement for a show that ended in February, and we have a seemingly permanent loop of a rerun in the last slot. A bump to 11-2 benefits the entire block by getting every show to a more reasonable hour. Let’s start there, see if we can do better with the 3 hours we have, and if that goes well and if they have the budget for it, add more time.
  20. Had a good laugh at that Food Wars crater as we enter the meat of why this season is considered so terrible. It’s pretty rare to see a middle of the block show crash like that with a big recovery into the rest of the night. We have a big schedule shift coming up soon, and with AS grabbing another hour at the same time, I’m really pulling hard for the block to shift to 11-2. If AS thinks lead slot reruns are a good choice for the block, I’d like to see them put some skin in the game by putting the block at 11. If things nosedive, maybe get us some new shows instead of Genndy’s sloppy seconds.
  21. I considered this, if OP doubled up soon, we would be at the end of Punk Hazard in 2 months. But that said, a big criticism last year was being months into Punk Hazard and still running Fishman Island bumps. The ones from last night fit the two arcs better though, Dressrosa has a lot of stuff from the current arc bleed over. Naruto really threw me off though, even if we doubled up next week and it had no interruptions for the rest of the year, I don’t think we would reach that fight between Naruto and Sauske. I probably wouldn’t have even given this matter much thought without that particular one.
  22. So last night, it seems they refreshed the bumpers for OP and Naruto. But am I the only one who feels like they went abnormally far ahead for the footage? One OP one looks like Doffy in early Dressrosa, or at the very least tail end of Punk Hazard, while the other prominently showed Momonoske, whose human form was intentionally obscured in his intro episode. Naruto is even stranger, one is from the Itachi filler which is roughly 15 weeks away, and the other is the final Naruto vs Sauske fight, which I’m pretty sure we are at least 40 episodes away from. That’s a post war fight, we haven’t even had Kaguya show up properly yet. It’s not out of the ordinary to see them use footage from further out for bumpers, like one of the old OP ones with Zoro carrying Tashigi hasn’t even aired yet, but was I the only one who felt like they reached forward much further than usual?
  23. I think the Futurama is new. Probably a preemptive change for the May expansion. Superman is airing during the Sunday movie night on CN. However, since it bleeds over into the 8pm hour, it messes up the website schedule. Adult Swim will simply start late at 8:30 that night
  24. Didnt the justice department approve the merger in the first place? I don’t think this will going anywhere
  25. Hopefully, this is the last week I need to do this and Toonami actually makes something Facebook official before next Saturday. As expected, we lead with a rerun of 24, followed by a premier of 25, the season finale.
