The Reddit hivemind NOT showing blind, unwavering support to a project that has “Watanabe” listed in the description? Surely you jest.

Toonami has not acquired a non sequel show since January 2022 - Fact Toonami clearly still has money going into it, so the block isn’t on a sustained burnoff mode - Fact Sorry if the indisputable facts in the room conflict with your beliefs, but a thoughtless shitpost reply won’t make them stop being facts.

Have they? I feel like it’s only been in recent years that they have picked up the nickname “Crappa”. Their recent tactic seems to be rolling out a 10/10 trailer, keeping that energy into episode 1, then just giving up. They also have Sola on board for this project. They helped make the barely visible Black Lotus possible.

I’m eager to be proven wrong. I’d love for Demarco to walk on stage on Saturday and announce two non sequel pickups, hit the dab, and tell the haters to li-li-lick my balls. Doesn’t even have to be then, if Saturday is talk time for originals only, I’m cool if they are announced via Facebook in a month. As it stands, the last non sequel acquisition was Jan 2022 with Made in Abyss. Call it /co/ talk all you want, I call it reality talk. 1.5 years without a non sequel pickup and more open slots then I care to go back and count makes it very hard to argue that they have put one iota of effort into looking for new shows. Meanwhile, they are still announcing originals, so we know AS hasn’t completely abandoned the block.

Don’t see any money issues anywhere else on AS. Especially with another 2 hours they are picking up. Yea, the content is all free in house stuff, but it’s more time to manage. And the entire topic of this thread, plenty of money to piss away on another original that odds are will be a major flop as all its predecessors have been. Not to mention the block has had money for a bit of a packaging refresh and all those animated short bumpers. Nah, it’s not a money issue. It’s a desire issue. They don’t want to air anything that isn’t a sequel. Nobody on the staff wants to do the research on fresh anime so we just get to linger and stall for months at a time until another sequel is available.

2023 for sure, because there is absolutely no excuse for it being this bad. We are still sitting at only 2 acquired shows for the year, and it looks like the maximum we can have this year will be 4.

My expectations are low as well, but they really gotta get it through their head that the block cannot subsist on originals and people aren’t as excited for these as they think they are, especially with their current track record of only one original being barely passable, purely because it adapted an already existing story. Here’s how the schedule looks going forward Superman - ends early September Dr Stone - ends weekend before Labor Day (thanks “accidental” wrong episode!) FLCL - ends weekend before Labor Day One Piece - Punk Hazard ends in Sept Naruto - July 2024 MHA - January 2024 First three slots of the block are all shuffling around in a little over a month. One is almost surely going to FLCL, now is good of time as any to tell us what two acquired shows will fill in the other hour. They have absolutely zero excuse for not having two shows to shuffle in after such a destitute year so far.

On the topic of early info, I’d say odds of another Uzumaki delay are sitting around 90%. As soon as the schedule math had a new FLCL leaking into October I had a feeling this would be the case.

Seems like a waste to not have just waited two more days, with the entire event nearly called off, at least Toonami could have carried with its announcements. If this show was his big announcement he has been saving up, it’s not just that the news broke early, it’s another original with no air date. We want to know what the block is doing today, not a year or more from now.

Now this is funny, because I’m sure Demarco is absolutely disgusted by this. Now he gets to feel the way he makes us feel when he drags this franchise through the mud with these sequels. Those characters look like someone asked an AI to spit out some generic anime designs. If you showed someone this with no context there is absolutely nothing here that points to it being FLCL.

I know it’s a free event, but did they have to pay for their space out there? If so, I’d assume it’s too late for a refund and they can’t justify fully cancelling it. Strike or no strike, these projects already have their release date, so at the very least they can drum up some hype for them.

That’s good, I wonder if it will get bumped up the schedule. Right now the panel is scheduled for 5:15pm California time on Saturday.

Adult Swim has always listed things they do in EST which is why I thought it was weird. If it’s 5 EST that would put it at 4 CST which is crazy early for AS, even if they are just airing cartoons.
-
5pm? I thought they were taking 6pm. Did they get another hour or is that a timezone thing? I assume this means it’s starting out with Dexter, Ed Edd n Eddy, Billy and Mandy and Courage. So they are hitting the ground running with this idea. I’ll bet that so long as things go well, B&M and Courage will take over fully for October. I think both have enough episodes to carry the entire month.

It’s never their fault according to them. And no, using their own mistake to buy an extra week of not having to buy a new show isn’t owning it. Owning it is doing my suggestion that doesn’t offset the release schedule. I give a shit, as does the majority of the audience that watched the episode because unless you watched the sub, you could barely tell an episode was skipped. Not really sure why you believe your own situation on the matter is the only one that matters. You chose to tune out, the rest of us shouldn’t be punished for your decision. Just did the math btw. At normal pace, Dr Stone was set to run out of episodes two weeks prior to Labor Day. With this hiccup, it now ends the week before Labor Day. Really gets the ol noggin joggin, doesn’t it? And how convenient that the Toonami Facebook page was able to announce their plan for it on a Sunday morning.

And those of who stuck around get shafted with a rerun in 2 weeks. Weird how schedule mistakes never happen outside of Toonami, isn’t it? Plus, this isn’t about the mistake. That’s done and there’s no helping it. This is about the moronic response to the mistake. If they are insistent on running it again, next week should look like this 12 - Superman 12:30 - Stone 6 1 - Stone 7 1:30 - FLCL 2 - One Piece 2:30 - Naruto Im so tired of their attitude that if shows shift around 30 mins for one week that the entire block will burn down. This was their fuck up, own it and deal with it, not use it to pad out an extra week of time.
