Yeah, only thing I would caution you about is that if you're looking at getting exclusively the premium edition for it, is that it says it's low stock. Regular edition price is actually higher right now, so if you're fine with that it'll probably be that price or better at some point in the future again. Low stock though anyway doesn't mean it'll necessarily sell out any time soon, as I've seen stuff on their site that's been marked "low stock" for over a year and still is available.

Guy on DVD Talk posted that it's supposed to run through the 25th, Sunday. I seem to remember them doing another Cyber Monday sale right afterwards last year though, and a holiday season sale following that, but I believe the prices changed and weren't as good for those.

Ha ha, yeah my fridge is packed to the point of exploding... kinda like my stomach right now. Ohhh. My bank account unfortunately, not so much. I'm actually glad I haven't seen much of any other really tempting deals at places like Amazon or Right Stuf yet so far. Still got Cyber Monday to go though.

Tis the season... to resurrect this thread... and of course to kiss a bunch of money goodbye. Bye bye money. ~waves~ Sentai shop has already got an epic sale going with almost their entire catalogue at close to 90% off, so yeah... I went pretty nuts and ordered about $300 worth of stuff. I'm probably gonna get carpal tunnel just from typing this all, but new on order: Campione, Cobra the Animation, Cross Ange complete, Dog & Scissors, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya seasons 1 - 3, Fate/stay night Unlimed Blade Works movie, Gatchaman Crowds seasons 1 & 2, Girls und Panzer movie & This is the Real Anzio Battle, Grimoire of Zero LE, I Couldn't Become a Hero yadda yadda..., Intrigue in the Bakumatsu collection 2, Is It Wrong to Expect a Hot Spring in a Dungeon?, Kokoro Connect OVA, Maoyu, Mayo Chiki, MM!, Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse collections 1 & 2, Penguindrum collection 2, Say "I Love You", Sword Oratoria Is It Wrong... LE, Utawarerumono OVA & False Faces, and Watamote

Wow, never thought it would happen... Actually, yeah, yeah I did I suppose. I just never thought I'd still be alive to see the day. LOL Obviously, this is awesome, but it just reminds me how sad it is that I've had the manga for years but somehow still haven't gotten around to reading it. Sigh.

FLCL Alternative, Episode 6
Dark_Cloud_Overhead replied to Blatch's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Sigh. You know, I had really high hopes for this one after the first few episodes, but that ending was just fail to me. Oveall, I still liked Alternative better than Progressive, just cuz I liked the characters more and the feel of it to me seemed closer to the original. Still, that ending was just a letdown. I think they were just too afraid to make these real sequels in any way, and as a result they weren't able to add anything interesting to expand the story or universe of the show in any way. I get that they didn't want to risk offending fans of the original, but that wound up dooming these "sequels" to being mediocre knockoffs of the original at best in the end. -
FLCL Alternative, Episode 2
Dark_Cloud_Overhead replied to Blatch's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
That one really paid a ton of homage to Marquis de Carabas. Essentially, Hijiri = Ninamori; both kids just fooling themselves into thinking that supressing or hiding your emotions makes you more mature somehow. Tsk tsk, nothing more uncool than lying to yourself though. I wonder though if it was Haruko's plan to steal her boyfriend just in order to rile up Kana-bun into using the N.O, or if it was just a coincidence. Yeah, I know, coincidence? Haruko? Pretty doubtful that. -
Toonami Expands to 9PM on 9/29
Dark_Cloud_Overhead replied to QueenoftheDorks's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Hmm, not so sure how great a move it is to suddenly move Shippuden so far up in the lineup, but any lineup without Pop Team Epic in it is an improvement in my book. Are we seriously not even halfway through Shippuden though? My gawds! Should be really interesting to see how well, or not, it does that much earlier in the night in the ratings, and how well Boruto can do as well. Gotta say I'm not very optimistic about its ability to remain there very long. I like that they're sandwiching Alternative between Super and AoT though. That definitely should give it the best chance to catch as many eyeballs as possible there, so I take that as a hopeful sign. I was disappointed by Progressive, but the first episode of Alternative impressed me, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to do so. -
What Anime Are You Watching Right Now?
Dark_Cloud_Overhead replied to BUU8800's topic in Anime & Manga
Been a while. Still alive. Been pretty busy, but managed to find time recently to binge about a hundred or so more episodes of One Piece, picking up where Toonami left off, which blew my mind, but that's been about it over the last several months. -
Yep, my mom really wanted to see it ever since she saw the trailer for it like a year ago. She loves movies about dogs or wolves. I read online that they pushed the premiere date for it back a couple of times. Not sure why, but she was pretty mad when I told her. LOL Anyway, she liked it a lot and so did I, even though I'm more of a cat lover myself.
-
I picked up the first set a few years ago as part of a bunch of stuff that I nabbed from Fry's when they had one of their once in a blue moon anime sales. Sentai announced last year that they're phasing out DVDs so I figured it was just a matter of time before they cut the prices on them lower. I was gonna get them last Black Friday, but I waitied too long, but it worked out in my favor cuz they cut them even cheaper now.
-
Oh yeah baby! That's more like it. I wish another TV network had gotten it though, cuz I don't have Prime and now I'll have to wait longer to see it, but I've never used my free trial, so maybe once the whole season is out I can use it to binge the whole thing. Either that or I'll just wait for the DVDs to come out at my local library.
-
Yeah, I saw that was going OOP and was just waiting for a coupon code. They send them out through email or regular mail it seems often enough, but they delisted it at Right Stuf like a day or two before I got one wouldn't you know. Guess now I have to wait and hope one goes up for sale somewhere later on for a decent price. If not I suppose I'll eventually cave and just get the regular edition at some point.

Yeah, I kinda agree about the idols. I don't know if it's that there's too many, so much as this season they just basically gave them away at ghost island. People should have to work to find them, that way there's a risk to the potential reward, and they should make them as reasonably hard to find as possible. What bugged me more about this season is, well I like being surprised and this season I like never was. I guess at least in part you can blame how I've watched for so long that I've gotten to the point where I can pretty much always see through the edit's attempt to throw doubt on who's actually going by attempting to make it look like another person could be in danger, when it's pretty obvious most of the time that they aren't really. The main thing I think though is nobody ever made a freaking move! They would think about it, but never followed through. Nobody ever showed enough spine late in the game to stand up to Dom and Wendell and get people to take them out when it was so obviously the best move, besides maybe Donathan a bit. I blame Laurel mostly for that. She had multiple chances to shift the game, but never had the guts to do it. I think she got zero votes to be the winner in the end, and if so then well deserved.
-
OMG Okay, wait... Okay, think I finally got that out of my system. Ha ha ha. Seriously though, if they're gonna actually do this they shouldn't even bother pretending and just call it Thundercats Ho! instead of roar. I mean it's so freaking obvious what this is derivative of. I love TTG, but this is too much. I really hope this what I can only call a parody remake doesn't succeed. That said, I'll probably still check it out, but are they serious that they seriously want us to think that this show is gonna seriously try and have some serious action stuff in it? Seriously? No seriously?!

Hold the phone! They canceled The Expanse! No way. I refuse to believe that. Dark Matter and The Mist, too? Well, the Mist isn't really that great a surprise given the network's name it was on didn't survive either. Damn though... Hmm, seems The Expanse is being shopped eleswhere though at least, so there's some hope there to it continuing.

I really enjoyed last season, which is part of what made this one so painful I think. I've been watching since season 2... actually I guess since the ending of season 1, and I've never hated a season as much as I hated this one. I was so bored/frustrated that I didn't even watch most of the finale for the first time like ever. I tuned out after the first immunity challenge, and only tuned back in to see who won the whole thing, and to see where they're going next season. Can't make this season a ghost of the past soon enough.

This is the first show I've gotten my mom to watch in like forever. Our tastes in TV don't usually align, but this has been one of those rare ocassions where I felt like it would be something we might both enjoy seeing. She really hated Mr. Hickey, said he was so ugly she almost couldn't stand to look at him. LOL I thought they were going to make a second season though since they called it the season finale rather than series finale. I'm a little sad to hear that might be it, but I guess we'll see.

Wow, no ones posted in here since Christmas? I guess that's not too surprising, as I only really buy stuff myself anymore like once or twice a year now, too. Some decent Memorial Day weekend sales though, so I went a lil' crazy. New on order: Assassination Classroom season 1 part 2, Big Windup! season 2, Brighter Than the Dawning Blue, Di GI Charat Winter Garden, Familiar of Zero blu-ray collections 2 & 3, Food Wars season 1 & 2 premium editions, Hatsukoi Limited, Infinite Stratos season 2, Knights of Sidonia season 2 collector's edition, Pita-Ten, Rage of Bahamut Genesis LE, Squid Girl LE, Tamayura ~Hitotose~, Tegami Bachi Letter Bee season 1 part 2 & season 2 parts 1 & 2, A Town Where You Live blu-ray, Umi Monogatari, and The World God Only Knows season 3 and OVA blu-rays
-
Yeah, that's true. A couples years back Amazon put a bunch of new restrictions on selling DVDs and blu-rays in their marketplace. They said it was in the name of trying to clamp down on bootleg sellers, but it was really just an excuse and obviously really done to squeeze out small time sellers who were undercutting their prices. Since then, it's become much harder to find any good deals on used media there.

It used to be, from my experience, that if you wanted cheap, used anime, about the best place to buy from was the Go Hastings website. For some time they had many anime discs for about a dollar each, and you could get free shipping on top of that when they had sale codes every once in a while. Heh, only downside was that they didn't have a central warehouse to fufill orders from, so if you ordered a number of items you could end up getting a separate package for almost each and every one, as they would be shipped by whatever store of theirs around the country happened to have it in stock. They went bankrupt a few years ago though, but that's what happens I guess when you run a business where you're paying more to ship stuff than what you're getting paid for the stuff you're shipping, heh. Nowadays, other than the aforementioned ebay and Amazon marketplace, only places I know would be Second Spin and Wherehouse.com which are sister sites run by the same company I believe.

Rampage 9/10 Can the Rock do no wrong? It's starting to feel like it lately, cuz that was pure awesome. Jeffery Dean Morgan almost stole the show with his character, who had some of the best lines, but even he couldn't steal the spotlight, of course, from the film's true star... George the gorilla. HOO HOO HOO! Only slight criticism I have is a few things were telegraphed a bit much, but otherwise, that well... rocked.

Pacific Rim: Uprising 6/10 Not bad, but just really feel like in a number of ways that it failed to live up to the original, which was kinda disappointing. Ready Player One 10/10 That was actually pretty amazing. Nostalgia probably has a lot to do with why I enjoyed it so much, but I think even you don't get all the references you'd still find it a pretty fun ride.
