Yeah, the exact start date feature is pretty cool, but I personally don't use it. There were too many shows I watched before I learned about it, and for some of them I can't even really guess when I watched them, so I just don't use it altogether.

Yamakan sounds half insane when he talks. " He publicly characterized Fullmetal Alchemist director Seiji Mizushima as "childishly emotional," lashed out at the cast of the Wake Up, Girls! cast members, and partially blamed idol Mayu Tomita for being violently attacked by a fan in March 2017. In 2016, he declared moe as 'fascist' and anime is 'dead'." The last one in particular is my favorite.

What show have you dropped so far?
CaptainStarwind replied to Misaka's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I really don't tend to drop shows that much either, but sometimes it can take a while for me to start watching them again. For Toonami, I gotten as far as two months behind on shows before trying to catch back up again. In this case, I need to watch everything from last week and HxH and Black Clover from three weeks ago, then I'll be caught up. -
Crazy conspiracy theories like this always manage to make my day a little bit brighter. But yeah, stay away from Tumblr.

I'm not really happy with anything going on with MAL right now. I can't say I'm at the point of giving up on it entirely, but I imported my anime and manga over to Anilist, so chances are if I keep using it for a while I'll just stick with that as my main site, especially if MAL does't have full functionality when the Summer 2018 shows start.
-
Fuck it, I made an AniList. I can barely keep track of the shows I'm watching this season, and I'm too lazy to make a paper list.

Happy belated birthday! If I got on here any time before now I would have posted sooner

I sort of expected this to happen sooner or later. I'm not the biggest fan of Bleach, but it will be nice to have the rest of the show finally animated, and I'll probably watch it.
-
Oh, good to know I'm not the only one who's pissed about this! I don't know what the hell is going on with MAL right now. I'm sincerely considering other options (Anilist, etc.) at this point.

Yeah, I'm pretty much echoing everybody else's sentiments on Episode 19. This episode was definitely needed, and it was leagues more interesting than the mess that was Episode 18, but it's too little too late. This episode should have come closer to the halfway point of the series. It was apparently more important, however, to devote practically three full episodes to a love story between two of the parasites that practically comes out of nowhere and gets (literally) forgotten just as quick. Even then, the backstory still doesn't make sense in places. They mention that once they attain immortality, the expense of the operation only leaves it open to the wealthy, which widens the wage gap. Then a bit later they say that almost everyone has gotten it. What happened? Did it become affordable to everyone? Did they force it on everyone? It's never answered. Well, it may have been, but if it was I didn't hear it.

The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board
CaptainStarwind replied to StarPanda's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Who was airing Smackdown before? I used to watch RAW every week with my friends in college but I never bothered with Smackdown. If anything, decreased ratings across the board for Cartoon Network just means that we don't need to worry so much about ratings for Toonami anymore. I still want them to be good, mind you, but we don't need to enter red alert mode when we've had two sub-par weeks in a row. -
Not yet, anyway.

so lupin replaces GTS when it's run ends...
CaptainStarwind replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Not really. Lupin is a recent show, which should be objectively better than rerunning something like another Cowboy Bebop or Big O Season 2. A slot that late at night was pretty much meant for a rerun, anyway; if Toonami didn't have it then the block wouldn't have any less premieres than they do now. Would you consider Toonami to have "cracks in the foundation" if they had the same amount of premieres but no reruns? I mean, you can't honestly expect Toonami to be able to premiere a show in every single slot on the block. -
"turbo-cucked". That made me laugh so much It seems like a distant memory that this show had action in it. There's barely anything happening and, like Daos said, there's 6 episodes left. How are they going to wrap all of this up in 6 episodes. I didn't know the episode was released early, so I watched it early this morning, like usual.

I don't necessarily think it's wrong for people to express displeasure at the new Thundercats. I mean, looking at the artstyle and direction the show is going to take, some people (especially fans of the 2011 show) were bound to be offended or put-off by this. I understand that we, as adults, aren't the target audience for the show, and that in the end, our opinions don't really matter, but given how Cartoon Network seems to have treated straight action animation in the last few years, I can understand why people would want to vent. At least within reason. Suggesting that the showrunner should go kill himself is above what I would call reasonable. I was kind of thinking the same thing myself. It's just the style nowadays, I think. It quick and easy to draw, which usually translates to cheaper. A lot of these shows are primarily comedy, too, so they really don't need detailed figures. I'd also imagine that Adventure Time being a huge success also had something to do with it.

I do have to wonder how long making comedy reboots of action shows is going to profitable for Cartoon Network. First we had Teen Titans Go, then whatever the hell they did with Ben 10, now Thundercats. How long will this continue to work for Cartoon Network?

The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board
CaptainStarwind replied to StarPanda's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Just because some people take the ratings a bit too seriously doesn't mean we need to lock the thread for everyone else. -
While I was watching, I got the feeling that Ichika understood more than he let on and was deliberately acting dumb about it all, though admittedly there's little evidence to that point, so maybe it's just me rationalizing his behavior.

Doing a Google Image search for that top image was the reason I decided to watch Infinite Stratos in the first place lol. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't trashy, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I know of both Freezing and Highschool DxD. I've been meaning to check HDXD out, so I'll add Freezing to that as well. Infinite Stratos Season 2 is in the near future. I have two other shows on my list (Baka and Test, Konosuba) that I have yet to watch the second seasons of, so my current plan is to finish the show I'm currently watching (Nadia), then finish off those three series. After that, I don't know what to watch, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes. I loved Toradora. The show is in my Top 10, without a doubt. I think the thing I liked most about the show was how it felt more natural and realistic than it could have been. It would have been easy to make Taiga a tsundere through and through, and while she starts and ends the series as a tsundere, she grown up and has changed significantly as a character in the process. My liking of the series is also really helped by the fact that it's a really good romance; I'm not ashamed to say that I love romance stories, so having a well written, emotional, and satisfying romance earned Toradora major points in my book.

I knew you'd have this exact reaction as soon as I watched episode 17.

March 20 post here, with link to Youtube video here. I'm also fairly certain people on these very forums have talked about this before, so even if you don't ever go to TDA, you should have seen this before now. Yeah, as much as I like Elfie, you're gonna have to give me proof from someone who's in an actual position to know that. Considering I've given you evidence for the above, it's the least you can do for me. The two new seasons definitely seem to be following two different protagonists, each with their own characters, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't some kind of overarching plot that links the two of them, as well as the original FLCL, together. Why would they announce two seasons otherwise? Why not just one long season of 12 episodes, or just a single 6 episode season? Look, we don't even know if they plan to reair FLCL Season 2 right after it finishes airing. Even if it does, there's no guarantee it does it in the same spot, either. We can assume from past experience, though, that they most likely will reair FLCL Season 2 right after it finishes. Your logic doesn't make sense here. A rerun of Season 2 won't make people not watch Season 3. If anything, it would do the opposite. Season 3 would be something new and fresh. People aren't so butthurt as to completely give up on Season 3 over a rerun of Season 2. Samurai Jack was a completed story that had no chance of continuation. There was more Attack on Titan, but everyone knew it wouldn't be coming soon. A rerun of FLCL Season 2 at least has the benefit of there being more FLCL after the rerun ends. The FLCL rerun is also much shorter. I'll phrase it this way: would you rather sit through 6 weeks of reruns, or 25 weeks of reruns? Placement on the block is everything. Samurai Jack and Attack on Titan reran at the top of the block, which maximized the chance that ratings for the rest of the block would be affected. FLCL would be rerunning at the fourth slot of the block. If ratings tanked, it would only drag down ratings for what came after it, which still isn't great, but at least it isn't the whole block. That's even assuming the rerun it at all, or decide to rerun it in it's premiere slot. Yeah, no it isn't. You just don't read half of what I post. I'll let you in on a little secret: I don't want FLCL Season 2 to be rerun (if it were to be) in the same slot that it premieres in. There's definitely a possibility of it pulling down ratings for the rest of the block if it does so. But let's be honest here, that's what they're gonna do. Moving it down in the block would definitely be a smarter choice, but it would only be for six weeks, then they move it back up again. They're big of block stability, and keeping shows where they are. I doubt they'd move a show for just six weeks. The only way I could see it working is if, after FLCL Season 2 finishes it's initial airing, they move it down, rerun Season 1 first, then rerun Season 2, and move it back up. That'd be a bit more stable.
