Something special on the 25th....?
OwlChemist81 replied to brianycpht's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
While I'm not one of those people, I am looking forward to this. Sucks that we're losing One Piece, but maybe next we'll FINALLY get Psycho-Pass and Future Diary in that timeslot! This plus GITS:SAC HD will make a great late night combo! -

I kinda wish every year WAS 2007--anime would still be on [as] weeknights and I'd be getting laid every spring! But the pain of losing her over and over again every summer would be rough, and I'd never know how InuYasha, FMA, and Hellsing ended, so I guess this is OK. -

So in other words, repeal and replace, but missing the "replace". Gee, where have we seen that before? I hope Olympushit is actually happy with Toku. -
Samurai Jack constant Stream (Presented by Old Spice)
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
There are almost 2000 people watching the stream right now. Well, not quite 1900, but still. And as for the Toonami stream? Gundam Unicorn now! I'm assuming it's just episodes 1-5 again. -

Now that I've switched to DirecTv, I wonder if I get Toku... It may not be the FUNimation Channel, but at least it's anime on TV, right? -

So about that dedicated stream? It exists now thanks to Old Spice, and is pretty glorious! http://www.adultswim.com/videos/streams/samurai-jack Not only that, but over 1500 people are watching it in the dead of night! -

Trending stayed awesome this week as well: http://toonamifaithful.com/toonami-trending-rundown-for-march-4-5-2017/ I have confirmed this is the 5th straight streak of #1's in U.S. Trending for every Toonami show, and all shows also reached either #8 or #9 worldwide! Samurai Jack also made it to #5 outside Toonami, but didn't trend worldwide, and no character trends. -

Right, and it's more story-driven and doesn't really use cutaway gag humor like the other two. Because of that, I actually find it a bit better and more watchable. But Family Guy is clearly getting old... Enter Samurai Jack, which just might usher action animation back to its former brilliance! -

Wait, what!? Jack is getting a WEDNESDAY night encore!? That's...pretty much insane! *Checks, looks* ...and yet it's true! And not only that, but a 3-peat at 2:30 AM! Not even Dragonball Super can boast that! I hope this works out well and this trend continues, especially if Jack is replaced by something less mainstream like Attack on Titan Season 2. Would love to see that get a replay on Wednesday nights at 10 PM--perhaps preceded by ANOTHER FUNimation simul-dub which doesn't actually show up during Toonami except maybe as an encore toward the end after One Piece. But either way, Samurai Jack reruns airing on Wednesday nights just might be the first step toward action on weeknights! But I digress. Getting back to the past (pun intended), here are the full ratings from this past Saturday: TOTAL VIEWERS RETENTION: 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 857,000 8:30 PM Samurai Jack 550,000 (64.18%) 11:00 PM Family Guy 1,329,000 11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 1,217,000 (91.57%) 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 1,102,000 (90.55%) 12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 941,000 (85.39%) 1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 908,000 (96.49%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 800,000 (88.11%) 2:00 AM Naruto: Shippuden 745,000 (93.13%) 2:30 AM One Piece 578,000 (77.58%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 528,000 (91.35%) TOTAL VIEWERS AVERAGE - 852,375 ADULTS 18-49 RETENTION 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 427,000 8:30 PM Samurai Jack 286,000 (66.98%) 11:00 PM Family Guy 820,000 11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 738,000 (90.00%) 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 663,000 (89.84%) 12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 557,000 (84.01%) 1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 525,000 (94.25%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 468,000 (89.14%) 2:00 AM Naruto: Shippuden 443,000 (94.66%) 2:30 AM One Piece 354,000 (79.91%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 311,000 (87.85%) ADULTS 18-49 TOONAMI AVERAGE - 507,375 Those are actually the 2nd highest of 2017 so far in either category. I'd say that's quite possible! Also... http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/saturday-final-nationals-espn-leads-prime-time-duke-north-carolina-viewed-college-basketball-game-regular-season/ It was the Highest-rated regular season basketball game of the season the PT shows were up against, so it isn't any wonder they faltered. And 11:30 Super did pretty damn good considering it's lead-in Family Guy didn't even crack 1.4 million and just barely 800K 18-49. -

SBD updated, and here's what we know so far: 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 1,102,000 #DIV/0! 12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 941,000 (85.39%) 1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 908,000 (96.49%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 800,000 (88.11%) 2:00 AM Naruto: Shippuden 745,000 (93.13%) 2:30 AM One Piece 578,000 (77.58%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 528,000 (91.35%) Yes, it's really annoying that they don't give any info on 11:30 Super, but it is what it is. It will be interesting to see if there will just be a hole there next week as well. As for 18-49's, well... 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 0.52 N/A 12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 0.43 (82.69%) 1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 0.41 (95.35%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 0.36 (87.80%) 2:00 AM Naruto: Shippuden 0.35 (97.22%) 2:30 AM One Piece 0.28 (80.00%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 0.24 (85.71%) More to come later!! -

I remember clearly that those shows were after Bleach/FMA encore, because I stayed up all night that night to watch the premiere of Code Geass R2. Thank goodness it got a rerun at 2 AM the following week, which for me was the very watchable 1 AM which Shippuden currently occupies! -

Agreed. And when consistency is broken, there should be a hyped reason for it. I would say that the first major break from consistency of 2017, "moving" Jack from 8:30 PM to 11 PM (and having it join Toonami with premieres) has more than adequate hype. Moving the comedy reruns while keeping the Toonami shows consistent was a wise move! -

At 8 PM, yes, though its peaks so far in each category are: 1,073,000 total viewers (2/25/17) 507,000 adults 18-49 (also 2/25/17, though 1/7/17 may have been higher at 0.4/~512K but we really don't know for sure since it was only reported also as "0.4") ~340,000 adults 18-34 (1/14/17) Its more "official" 11:30 Toonami airing (though technically a rerun) usually hits about 1.2M, peaking at 1.367M on 1/7/17--so far. With Samurai Jack Season 5 as its lead-in it should do MUCH better! -

Another good week. Not great like this week the last 2 years, but "good": http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-3-4-2017.html Thanks to College Basketball, no shows made the Top 5 this week, but that's ok, because unlike last week all 3 Toonami shows made the Top 10! 3/4/2017 Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - #16 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.37 Estimated 18-34 - 251,000 ( 29.29% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.33 Estimated 18-49 - 423,000 ( 49.36% ) Total Viewers - 857,000 3/4/2017 DBZ Kai: Final Chapters - #6 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.62 Estimated 18-34 - 421,000 ( 38.20% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.52 Estimated 18-49 - 667,000 ( 60.53% ) Total Viewers - 1,102,000 3/4/2017 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - #8 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.53 Estimated 18-34 - 360,000 ( 38.26% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.43 Estimated 18-49 - 551,000 ( 58.55% ) Total Viewers - 941,000 3/4/2017 Gundam Unicorn - #9 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.49 Estimated 18-34 - 333,000 ( 36.67% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.41 Estimated 18-49 - 526,000 ( 57.93% ) Total Viewers - 908,000 DBZ KFC up slightly and JoJo steady in 18-49 despite shedding total viewers, while Gundam Unicorn just did better than it's done yet in every category except Adults 18-34. I believe this show is going to be kind of a "sleeper" hit, which would make sense since the later episodes correspond to harder-to-find episodes of the OVA, while the earlier episodes have been out for a while! I kind of expect the following for next week's disappearance of old Samurai Jack from 8:30 and much hyped premiere of SJ at 11:00 PM, as we should have 5 shows which make this chart: Dragon Ball Super @ 8 PM: 800K-1M; 300K-500K 18-49; 200K-350K 18-34 Samurai Jack @ 11 PM: 1.5M-1.8M; 800K-1M 18-49; 600K-800K 18-34 Dragon Ball Z Kai/Final Chapters @ 12 AM: 1.1M-1.3M; 700K-900K 18-49; 500K-700K 18-34 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure @ 12:30 AM: 900K-1.1M; 600K-800K 18-49; 400K-600K 18-34 Gundam Unicorn @ 1 AM: 900K-1.1M; 550K-750K 18-49; 350K-550K 18-34 -

Yeah, even if the ratings aren't as great as they used to be, we're in a MUCH better place now! BTW, that's not QUITE right; the first 2 AM hour was action and the 2nd was DST comedy filler. I think it was Halloween ATHF but I'm not sure. That might have been the following year! It will be interesting to see if Jack outrates Bleach from 8.5 years ago, but I'm pretty sure it will! -
Not that that's a bad thing! This was a fun little episode, despite being hilariously condensed! I do wish that Toei weren't so much sticklers for preservation of Japanese names. It would have been utterly hilarious if the Kansai hick woman's sons were called "Jethro" and "Bubba" instead of their Japanese names. That part almost didn't make such sense. Also, in this Monday afternoon rewatch, I do believe this is the first time I've ever actually eaten KFC while watching DBZ KFC!

Dragon Ball Super Episode 9 Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to Meilag32's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
12 pages of discussion = yay! Finding out the last 2 are bitching about the old boards = boo! (Or should I say "Buu?") And I would say the theory that Gohan was a Super Saiyan at the point of ejaculation is a pretty good one, since if I were him I'd probably experiment with it! Maybe Super Saiyan Sperm blew right through a condom and that's why we have Pan? And as for Videl briefly going Super Saiyan herself, maybe it's like that thing where babies can sometimes heal their mothers' illnesses just so they can be born and survive? -
Samurai Jack constant Stream (Presented by Old Spice)
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Have you actually watched the dedicated stream? I tried but I wasn't able to get it, and recently they actually removed it from both the app and website, so I believe this is really all we get! -
To get you ready for the premiere of BRAND-SPANKIN' NEW SAMURAI JACK this Saturday night at 11 PM on Toonami, the Toonami Marathon Stream is showing the last 10 episodes of the original Samurai Jack! We get episodes 43-47 from Monday to Wednesday night, then 48-52 from then to Friday night. I kinda wish they had gone with the episodes where Jack ALMOST gets back to the past (like 31/32), but whatever. Check it out, or don't, but get ready for Episode 53 (which oddly enough, carries the Roman numeral "XCII", which is "92") this Saturday night!!
