  1. Lest I forget I DO have FUNimation NOW and theoretically can watch Fujiko Mine anytime I want! Since we know Lupin the 3rd Part 4 is coming at 1:30, I think there are 3 possible schedule configurations, and I REALLY dislike the 3rd, for an OBVIOUS reason... :poop: 1. All Dub Premieres Together 11 PM Samurai Jack ® 11:30 DB Super ® 12 AM DBZ KFC (np) 12:30 Attack on Titan S2 (bd) 1 AM Hunter x Hunter (dp) 1:30 Lupin the 3rd Part 4 (dp) 2 AM Tokyo Ghoul (np) 2:30 Shippuden (np) 3 AM GITS ® 2. Get Back, Jack! 11 PM DBZ KFC (np) 11:30 DB Super ® 12 AM Attack on Titan S2 (bd) 12:30 Tokyo Ghoul (np) 1 AM Hunter x Hunter (dp) 1:30 Lupin the 3rd Part 4 (dp) 2 AM Shippuden (np) 2:30 Samurai Jack ® 3 AM GITS ® 3 Edgy 5 U, HxH! 11 PM Samurai Jack ® 11:30 DB Super ® 12 AM DBZ KFC (np) 12:30 Attack on Titan S2 (bd) 1 AM Tokyo Ghoul (np) 1:30 Lupin the 3rd Part 4 (dp) 2 AM Hunter x Hunter (dp) 2:30 Shippuden (np) 3 AM GITS ® LEGEND: ® = rerun; (np) = network premiere; (bd) = broadcast dub; (dp) = dub premiere (which Lupin the 3rd will be, along with Hunter x Hunter) Hopefully they'll go with option 2, as the Wednesday night rerun is officially cratering in the ratings: http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/wednesday-final-nationals-downward-dog-begins-criminal-minds-beyond-borders-ends-unspectacular-notes/ Not even a 900K or 0.40, also lost almost a tenth from the show before (AD), and the show after it (BB) gained a full 0.20 in 18-49! So I guess Burchard > McFarlane > Genndy. Who knew?
  2. See, I don't really get that, because it's still the same show, just packaged differently. Plus I'm sure you're still grateful that Toonami got to air it at all since they haven't touched OVAs since Hellsing Ultimate X bombed hilariously. Its TV edit was most likely to air on Toonami since its OVAs featured rather wonky airtimes. I suppose it still could have been accomplished with a 90-minute timeslot like Hellsing Ultimate IV, but it would have whisked 2 other shows off the lineup in the process. Of course none of these problems exist with the new Lupin series. I just hope Toonami isn't done with OVAs and Gundam series for good now. If Mobile Suit Gundam Origin gets a TV cut at some point, hopefully that would be decent to air on Toonami. Thunderbolt would be another good series to show on Toonami and it features a unique opportunity for playing 4-5-minute interstitials without screwing up other shows' start times. And for all we know, IBO S2 could still be coming July 29th. Perhaps absence will make viewers' hearts grow fonder once Gundam Unicorn concludes on June 10th?
  3. This is an awesome video! Good way to learn about the history of Toonami and I even learned a few things I didn't know! Kinda funny that the video's default screen depicts a character who won't be seen on Toonami again for a while at least. I really hope they can find a slot for Gundam IBO Season 2, but if not, it proves not even regular-length series are immune to getting cut off mid-run!
  4. If they do take July 1st off for a marathon this year, hopefully it will be AOT S2. I think that would be the best choice for it, as theoretically 9 episodes of the show should be out by then. However, it seems like such a move would kill whatever momentum Lupin III Part 4 has from the 17th and 24th similar to what happened with JoJo last year, so that might be a bad idea.
  5. I dig that Lupin's coming, but why the hell did it have to be at Gundam's expense? That being said, I hope they realize how BS it would be to air Season 1 of a show but never Season 2... OH right. Just ask One Piece!
  6. I just hope we get another movie at 3 AM on November 4, 2017!
  7. That's funny, because at one point Gundam Unicorn, the show it's replacing, was #1 on your Toonami wish list! I still hope we get IBO Season 2, I really do!!
  8. So I guess they're making 2 AM the Viz hour? Or maybe SJ at 11 is a red herring and instead everything moves up 30 minutes, whereupon Lupin simply replaces Gundam? I guess we'll see...
  9. The stream did not advance. I figured we'd be moving on to Episodes #36-#40 now, but I guess it wasn't in the cards. Well, it seems that it's gonna be this way all week because of the Upfronts, but on the off-chance it DOES actually advance tomorrow, well enjoy more of this:
  10. Yeah, FLCL S2 at 11 is really the only way any of this makes any sense at all! Otherwise, if you ask me, they oughta just bump DBZ Kai to 11 and leave it there. Sure, it's not even a dub premiere anymore, but it almost always does well when Super tanks, usually outgaining it! AOT has not shown itself to be worthy of 11 and it will probably just air all its episodes at 12:30, then be replaced by JoJo Stardust Crusaders.
  11. She was introduced at the beginning of 12, and died at the beginning of 17. So yes, 5 episodes.
  12. Try the FIFTH time around! That episode will have premiered at 11 PM on 3/11, replayed twice on 3/15 at 10 PM and 2:30 AM, and then also aired just the previous week in the exact same timeslot as part of the marathon on 5/27. You think things were bad in November 2014 through January 2015? Try Toonami being kicked off by a FULL HOUR of reruns! Hell, it would make more sense for Gundam IBO Season 2 to premiere at 11 PM instead; that's how absurdly STUPID this move is! If they gotta give Jack a rerun, it should be after 3:30 AM after GITS.
  13. To clarify, how this will work is next week's episode will have its usual "sneak" premiere on [as] at 8, air again during Toonami at 11:30, then get an encore on 5/27 at 8 PM, while 6/3 will "sneak" premiere a new episode at 8 PM, back to "normal".
  14. Yep, 3× million returns! And I really wouldn't call 54K by the skin of the teeth! Kai beat Super by 5%. Also not very slim! TOTAL VIEWERS RETENTION 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 866,000 10:30 PM Family Guy 1,424,000 11:00 PM Samurai Jack 1,327,000 (93.19%) 11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 1,054,000 (79.43%) 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 1,107,000 (105.03%) 12:30 AM Attack on Titan Season 2 951,000 (85.91%) 1:00 AM Tokyo Ghoul 803,000 (84.44%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 755,000 (94.02%) 2:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 561,000 (74.30%) 2:30 AM Naruto: Shippuden 539,000 (96.08%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 509,000 (94.43%) TOTAL VIEWERS AVERAGE - 845,111 ADULTS 18-49 RETENTION 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 426,000 10:30 PM Family Guy 845,000 11:00 PM Samurai Jack 804,000 (95.15%) 11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 657,000 (81.72%) 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 678,000 (103.20%) 12:30 AM Attack on Titan Season 2 578,000 (85.25%) 1:00 AM Tokyo Ghoul 516,000 (89.27%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 498,000 (96.51%) 2:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 339,000 (68.07%) 2:30 AM Naruto: Shippuden 333,000 (98.23%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 305,000 (91.59%) ADULTS 18-49 TOONAMI AVERAGE - 523,111 Both averages are above average for 2017, for the first time since 4/8/17! CURRENT SHOW AVERAGES Total Viewers Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - 881,889 (18 episodes) Samurai Jack - 1,350,333 (9 episodes) Dragon Ball Super (11:30 PM) - 1,148,688 (16 episodes) Dragon Ball Z Kai: Final Chapters - 1,030,421 (19 episodes) Attack On Titan Season 2 - 839,000 (4 episodes) Tokyo Ghoul - 749,571 (7 episodes) Hunter × Hunter - 824,255 (51 episodes) Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - 679,789 (19 episodes) Naruto: Shippuden - 856,674 (158 episodes) Ghost In The Shell HD - 520,267 (15 episodes) Adults 18-49 Dragon Ball Super (8 PM, Estimate) - 427,778 (18 episodes) Samurai Jack - 852,444 (9 episodes) Dragon Ball Super (11:30 PM) - 700,438 (16 episodes) Dragon Ball Z Kai: Final Chapters - 624,053 (19 episodes) Attack On Titan Season 2 - 507,250 (4 episodes) Tokyo Ghoul - 466,571 (7 episodes) Hunter × Hunter - 490,922 (51 episodes) Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - 413,421 (19 episodes) Naruto: Shippuden - 475,537 (141 episodes) Ghost In The Shell HD - 322,533 (15 episodes) Adults 18-34 (Estimated) Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - 274,235 (17 episodes) Samurai Jack - 570,889 (9 episodes) Dragon Ball Z Kai: Final Chapters - 420,211 (19 episodes) Attack On Titan Season 2 - 314,250 (4 episodes) Tokyo Ghoul - 304,857 (7 episodes) Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - 279,632 (19 episodes) Hopefully things will just get better for all shows next week. Maybe AOT S2 will actually crack a million!
  15. http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/saturday-final-nationals-snl-melissa-mccarthy-nbc-ties-big-bang-theory-season-finale-weeks-top-adults-18-49-telecast/ Well guess what? The Super slump continues.
  16. I don't know if Super will be ratings poison now that Frieza is back in the picture. A DB Power Hour beginning at 11 PM might actually not be a terrible idea during that saga! Since we still don't know how well DBS at 11:30 did, here's the retention for the 12-3:30 AM portion of the block: 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 1,107,000 12:30 AM Attack on Titan Season 2 951,000 (85.91%) 1:00 AM Tokyo Ghoul 803,000 (84.44%) 1:30 AM Hunter × Hunter 755,000 (94.02%) 2:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 561,000 (74.30%) 2:30 AM Naruto: Shippuden 539,000 (96.08%) 3:00 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 509,000 (94.43%) TOTAL VIEWERS AVERAGE - 746,429 Please note that after midnight, Gundam was the worst at hanging on to total viewers this week, which is somewhat unusual. It usually retains Hunter x Hunter better than this but also has incredible precision, not ever falling below 550K nor going above 600K since Episode 12. Last year's Toonami block on this week averaged 1008K, which means this year it was down by 26%. Still, it's nice to see DBZ KFC manage to crack 1.1 million viewers once again!
  17. It's featuring WAAAAAAY back in the Heaven's Arena arc though, the Hisoka/Castro showdown! Edit: I have figured out now that it's most likely 31-35, which aired on Toonami all the way back in December and January, and are pretty much transitional episodes of Heaven's Arena. #31 features the conclusion of the showdown with Kastro, which Hisoka wins, and #35 ends with Gon getting his first good punch on Hisoka. It's yet to be seen if the stream will advance to #36-#40 at 7 PM this afternoon, but you've at least got a couple more chances to catch this run of episodes!
  18. Oh, G Gundam. Right... I wonder how Origins (the new OVA remake of the original Mobile Suit Gundam) would do on Toonami now that Unicorn has been a moderate bomb. Hopefully it will get its chance, but somehow I doubt it. And then there's Gundam Thunderbolt, which given its 18-minute runtime per episode would be pretty much perfect to host a TIE, but then again there's no way they'll try a UC Gundam again far enough up the lineup. It could host the weekly weird-ass music video, though!
  19. I'd say that depends on what Adult Swim has lined up at 11 PM. My Hero Academia would probably do awesome! But if Toonami drops 11 PM and it goes back to [as] and Family Guy, it'll still probably be OK. But I guess we'll find out the June 3rd schedule soon!
  20. I was shocked that we were able to rag on AOT for not beating what Gundam Unicorn's peak has been so far in its first 3 weeks (826K/523K 18-49 vs. 908K/525K 18-49), but it looks like 4th time's the charm: 5/13/2017 Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - #8 (+3) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.41 Estimated 18-34 - 279,000 ( 32.22% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.33 Estimated 18-49 - 423,000 ( 48.85% ) Total Viewers - 866,000 5/13/2017 Samurai Jack - #1 (STEADY) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.80 Estimated 18-34 - 544,000 ( 40.99% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.63 Estimated 18-49 - 808,000 ( 60.89% ) Total Viewers - 1,327,000 5/13/2017 DBZ Kai: Final Chapters - #2 (+1) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.61 Estimated 18-34 - 415,000 ( 37.49% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.53 Estimated 18-49 - 679,000 ( 61.34% ) Total Viewers - 1,107,000 5/13/2017 Attack On Titan - #6 (-2) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.50 Estimated 18-34 - 340,000 ( 35.75% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.45 Estimated 18-49 - 577,000 ( 60.67% ) Total Viewers - 951,000 5/13/2017 Tokyo Ghoul - #7 (STEADY) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.45 . Estimated 18-34 - 306,000 ( 38.11% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.40 Estimated 18-49 - 513,000 ( 63.89% ) Total Viewers - 803,000 5/13/2017 Gundam Unicorn - #12 (+5) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.30 Estimated 18-34 - 204,000 ( 36.36% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.26 Estimated 18-49 - 333,000 ( 59.36% ) Total Viewers - 561,000 Looks like AOT S2 is finally starting to captivate viewers. Well, at least it didn't lose that badly from DBZ KFC this week even if it is still a pretty rough drop! I just wish Gundam Unicorn could do a little better. It's only managed a 700K+ ONCE in that timeslot. All of the material adapted from the last 3 OVAs is doing fewer than 600K viewers so far. Compare that to what Shippuden and One Piece have done in that timeslot, and it's quite depressing!
  21. And if you miss it tonight, you've got at least one more chance to catch it for the foreseeable future at 9:50 AM tomorrow, so set your DVRs if you like most Americans have to work tomorrow!
  22. I'll...just leave this here.
  23. Yeah, I'd say some of that eventually rubbed off on me, actually, back in the original days of the Adult Swim ratings report, which was more than just a Toonami thread back then!
  24. Now as for how I rank the 9 shows: #9: Dragon Ball Super - Mostly god-awful filler but at least there's good stuff on the horizon... #8: DBZ KFC - We interrupt the battle to stop Majin Buu for a 5-way battle royale! #7: Naruto: Shippuden - Closer and closer to the mystery of Pain... #6: Tokyo Ghoul - Probably the most gripping action the show has had yet! #5: Gundam Unicorn - Just when you thought Riddhe was finally about to redeem himself, he goes and does THAT!? #4: Ghost in the Shell - A classic episode that was an absolute TREAT to finally see in HD. #3: Hunter x Hunter - Meet Chrollo, leader of the Phantom Troupe. Super emo. Super intense! #2: Samurai Jack - All's fair in love and war, I guess! And the strange saga of Scaramouche also came to a surprising end! #1: Attack on Titan - The Titan attack got even more fierce, and then one of the guard revealed a shocking secret!
  25. Not really true for Attack on Titan, if you want the dub. But ALMOST true, since one only needs to wait a day before it shows up on FUNimation NOW!
