  1. So it's been 5 years since Trost and Annie?
  2. Maybe this means better ratings? Yeah, she wouldn't have survived if not for her Titan-shifting!
  3. We MIGHT be about to have a switch here, IF you've just seen the Toonami episodes!
  4. You could say that about HxH and Gundam too! #31: Warrior! BTW, it's not just us: Game of Thrones' conclusion might get delayed to 2019!
  5. I think it's funny that Mr. Satan was getting his ass kicked, while the REAL Satan (Dabura) was kicking ass! Well, on to AOT!
  6. Yeah, this arc is actually somewhat influenced by Islamic mythology! Not as much as Magi, mind you, but still. And "Genie" is actually derived from "Djinni", which is multiple Djinn, or something. Not that I've ever read the Qur'an/Koran or anything.
  7. Episode description updated. The hold-up happens, but it wasn't the note the episode ends on, but rather the rumblings of a conflict outside the chamber!
  8. Rewatching this episode right now, I noticed something that didn't jump out at me before. It was mentioned that the Box was a treaty that established the Universal Century, and that some of y'all felt it was "stupid" that something like this simply recognized that Newtypes have rights. Well, that wasn't quite the point of the Box. That article that had been stricken from the century goes beyond that, and mentions that if the Newtypes emerge, it is they who shall RULE the world (priority positions in government), not simply be recognized to have rights equal to non-Newtypes. THAT is why the cover-up and the secret of Laplace's Box. Kind of a "divine right of kings" thing. That's the kind of show this is, one you've gotta watch multiple times to REALLY figure out what's going on, and I'm fine with that. Ghost In The Shell was similar. Too bad unlike GITS the ratings are so bad it will probably never air again, but what can ya do?
  9. Sadly yes, I'm afraid you're right. Yep, tis true. It's Sunday morning and IBO #18 still plays. I really feel for the non-cable subscribing viewers this week!
  10. It's a new weekend, and love is in the air for Samurai Jack! Plus the streaming crew has really outdone themselves with one of their worst screw-ups yet... 1. Samurai Jack #60 - XCIX - TV-PGV 2. Dragonball Super #17 - Pan is Born! And Goku Goes on a Training Journey!? - TV-PGL 3. Dragonball Z Kai #116 - Don't Sell Super Saiyans Short! Vegeta and Goku's Full-Bore Power - TV-PGLV 4. Attack on Titan #28 - Southwestward - TV-14V 5. Tokyo Ghoul #6 - Cloudburst - TV-MAV 6. Hunter x Hunter #50 - Ally and Sword - TV-14 7. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 #18 - Fateful Battle - TV-PGLV --NOT!! Instead they screwed up and gave us Iron-Blooded Orphans Episode #18! So I hope you got Unicorn episode #18 on your DVR, because THAT'S the only way you will see this superior episode! 8. Naruto Shippuden #157 - Assault on the Leaf Village! - TV-14V 9. Ghost in the Shell: STAND ALONE COMPLEX #14 - ¥€$ - TV-14S [really?!]
  11. EPISODE #21: "To The World's End" OP: "Into The Sky" by Tielle ED: "bL∞dy f8 -eUC-" by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Aimer The mystery of Laplace's Box revealed at least in part, we're now on the next to last episode! After Full Frontal threatens to take the box by force, an epic battle begins just outside the Box's chamber, and Banagher floats outside to join the fray! What happens next? Find out Tonight (6/3/17) at 2 AM! Only Toonami! [and streaming online, probably] Since we've only 2 episodes to go, in this thread I will feature the OVA ED's we didn't get to hear on Toonami. OVA #3's, "Merry-Go-Round", by Chemistry, actually played at the end of Episode #9 of RE:0096, OVA #6's played at the beginning of Episode #18, which should be streaming this weekend (but isn't...), and OVA #7's ends next week's final episode of RE:0096, . So this week, you get OVA #1 and #2's EDs, and next week OVA #4 and #5's! I wish they had played shortened versions of them as part of RE:0096, but they didn't... OVA #1: Well damn, I can't find it, but here's... OVA #2: And finally, to make up for my unfortunate exclusion of OVA #1's ED, how about an extended remix of "bL∞dy f8", which will be playing for the last time tonight! ENJOY!! Until tonight...
  12. Uncover the mystery of the Colossal and Armored Titans... ...maybe! Tomorrow night (6/3/17) at 12:30 AM ONLY TOONAMI!
  13. Well, maybe they do know what they're doing by playing Samurai Jack Season 5 reruns at 11 PM on Saturday night after all, because these numbers ARE kinda encouraging: http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/saturday-final-nationals-prime-time-tv-wasteland-holiday-weekend/ TOTAL VIEWERS RETENTION 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 659,000 10:30 PM Family Guy 1,294,000 11:00 PM Samurai Jack S5 #1 1,031,000 (79.68%) 11:30 PM Samurai Jack S5 #2 939,000 (91.08%) 12:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #3 888,000 (94.57%) 12:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #4 843,000 (94.93%) 1:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #5 786,000 (93.24%) 1:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #6 841,000 (107.00%) 2:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #7 784,000 (93.22%) 2:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #8 704,000 (89.80%) 3:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #9 681,000 (96.73%) 3:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #10 642,000 (94.27%) TOTAL VIEWERS AVERAGE - 813,900 The Dragon Ball Super 3-peat at 8 PM didn't do very well at all, and still a rather sizable drop from Family Guy to SJ S5 #1. Oddly enough, it was the return of Scaramouche in #6 at 1:30 AM that had the best retention, as it actually GAINED viewers from the episode before (#5)! Given that Hunter x Hunter doesn't usually do that, I'd have to say it's a fluke unless by word-of-mouth people just tuned in that late to see all the crazy cameos! ADULTS 18-49 RETENTION 8:00 PM Dragon Ball Super 255,000 10:30 PM Family Guy 741,000 11:00 PM Samurai Jack S5 #1 606,000 (81.78%) 11:30 PM Samurai Jack S5 #2 545,000 (89.93%) 12:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #3 519,000 (95.23%) 12:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #4 495,000 (95.38%) 1:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #5 481,000 (97.17%) 1:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #6 534,000 (111.02%) 2:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #7 468,000 (87.64%) 2:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #8 415,000 (88.68%) 3:00 AM Samurai Jack S5 #9 408,000 (98.31%) 3:30 AM Samurai Jack S5 #10 355,000 (87.01%) TOTAL VIEWERS AVERAGE - 482,600 A similar pattern held for Adults 18-49, as episode #6 gained on #5 by a whopping 111%, but the opener to the marathon only dropped to 82% of its lead-in. While we're talking percentages, perhaps more important is the fact that the 12-3:30 portion of this marathon (Episodes #3-#9, if you're keeping score) actually GAINED for the first time this year, 4% in total viewers and 15% in adults 18-49 over last year's Samurai Champloo marathon, despite a drop of 20% in both total viewers and adults 18-49 across the rest of the network! Next week things return back to normal, or should I say the new normal? I just hope DBZ Kai can recover markedly from the two reruns at the top of the block, even if 10:30 PM Family Guy seems to have finally found its audience!
  14. It only made sense that "Covfefe" happened when TG was on the stream, as it's potentially a word for what coffee turns into when mixed with one of those mystery bullion cubes which make it delicious to ghouls!
  15. I really hope this is what happens, I really do!
  16. Also, now that the boards are back up, let's analyze the regular tenants (not including movies/marathons) of the 2 AM timeslot since Sword Art Online left it, shall we? 7/28/13-2/15/14: Sword Art Online (dub premiere) 2/22/14-3/15/14: Soul Eater (not a dub premiere) 3/22/14-4/26/14: Black Lagoon (not a dub premiere) 5/3/14-8/9/14: Blue Exorcist (not a dub premiere) 8/16/14-9/20/14: Gurren Lagann (not a dub premiere) 10/4/14-11/8/14: Hellsing Ultimate (1st half, not a dub premiere) 11/15/14-11/29/14: InuYasha: The Final Act (not a dub premiere) Also, note that none of the movies which aired at 2 AM during the Month of Movies II were dub premieres. 1/3/15-1/17/15: Gurren Lagann (not a dub premiere) 1/24/15-1/31/15: Deadman Wonderland (rerun, not a dub premiere) 2/7/15-3/21/15: Gurren Lagann (not a dub premiere) 3/28/15-5/21/16: Naruto: Shippuden (not a dub premiere) 6/14/16-9/24/16: One Piece (not a dub premiere) 10/1/16-3/18/17: Naruto: Shippuden (not a dub premiere) 3/25/17-6/10/17: Gundam Unicorn (yep, you guessed it, not a dub premiere) So then that means that Lupin the 3rd will now officially be the first dub premiere to air at 2 AM since Sword Art Online 1, WHICH ENDED OVER 3 YEARS AGO!! The question is: how did it come to this?? People were crowing back then how stupid it was for SAO 1 to air ahead of OG Naruto (12:30, uncut for the first time on Cable, I'll give it that), One Piece (1 AM), and Soul Eater (1:30 AM), NONE of which were dub premieres. One other feature of that schedule was that a dub premiere (Bleach) aired at Midnight, and would eventually be joined by world premiere of Space Dandy at 11:30. Eventually Bleach would end, the other permashonens would drop and sanity would prevail, as 12:30 once again became a premiere slot on 2/7/15, although combined with the loss of 11:30, which as most who have followed the block for the past 5 years was used for AOT reruns. Well, flash forward to now, and the permashonens are all but gone, with One Piece off the schedule and Naruto Shippuden at 2:30. Now 12:30 is the new midnight, as the first dub premiere on the schedule is in that timeslot, preceded by an hour of straight-up RERUNS and DBZ Kai, which lost its dub premiere status when the DVDs came out a few weeks ago. So here we go again, dub premiere in a hard-to-watch timeslot, dragged down to the abyss by [as] programming's asinine decision to once again play a rerun at the top of the block, Toei's fuckery that led to the worst decision for Toonami since Attack on Titan reruns, and whatever unholy deal they made that keeps Tokyo Ghoul in the 1 AM timeslot. I hope despite all that, Lupin the 3rd can still do well at 2 AM since Gundam Unicorn lowered the bar to levels only reverse-eclipsed by the likes of Hellsing Ultimate and Gurren Lagann during that dark period from 2014-15.
  17. This Memorial Day week, while you chow down on leftover BBQ, watch some seriously sick people chow down on human flesh! Tokyo Ghoul has decided to (dis)grace us with its foul presence on the stream this week. And since only Episodes 1-8 have shown on TV, I think we can reasonably infer that it will only be Episodes 1-5 streaming all this week. So yeah, that's happening. [:poop:]
  18. I would say I've watched [as] outside of Toonami in 2017 a LOT more than 2016. Why? One word: Boondocks. For the first time in several years, it rose from the grave outside occasional "Animation Marathon" streaming to actually get a weeknight replay at 12:30 that featured Season 4 in March and April, then took a brief hiatus but returned at 12:15 and even got a replay at 4:30 in parts of April and May. Also, I watched Samurai Jack on Wednesday nights, Dragonball Super premieres Saturday evenings at 8 (technically outside Toonami though those are both Toonami shows), and occasionally enjoyable DVR Theater shows like Assy McGee, 12 Ounce Mouse, and even Black Dynamite. Plus I am digging the new season of Mike Tyson Mysteries despite how F**ked up some of these episodes are. Like last night's--MY GOD!
  19. I don't mind a rerun on Toonami for Samurai Jack, but I do mind it at 11 PM. It's absurd that Toonami has that timeslot and it's not being used for something fresh and new, while dub premieres languish at 1:30 and 2 AM!
  20. You have a point, but there is the slight edge to Live + Same Day ratings that earlier shows give. The 2:30 AM timeslot is screwed because there's literally no way to watch it same day, since they consider 3 AM to 3 AM. But the 3 AM timeslot is the opposite and yet GITS seems to drop from Shippuden. The main boost is, of course, that earlier shows seem to be more accessible to casual viewers. However, they don't really get THAT much of a boost at an earlier timeslot, I guess, since Saturday night is such a party night.
