The reason can be totally legit, like you can be all, "Yeah, mom, my house is full of deadly spiders, people coming over and freaking them out freaks me out" I dunno, sounds legit. Relax and just say that bullshit, you'll be fine.
Mini_ghost420
I think it all stems from the time I was robbed at gunpoint. I don't even think there were bullets in the gun. and the whole time their finger wasn't on the trigger. but it still freaked me out. and I'm naturally this way cuz of the Aspergers stuff. but your idea is good. I often hold a poisonous spider in my hand and explain to people that they will have to take me to the hospital if I get a bite

mthor
It won't be that bad, and don't worry if it's hard to talk. You'll talk when you're ready. Remember - she's not going to judge you, she's going to diagnose you.

scoobdog
I really don't know. there's no real logic to it. This is probably a really stupid question, but the the psychiatrist you're seeing knows you're on the spectrum, right?

scoobdog
yea I think so. she should be prepared Then you should be just fine. If I had to guess at what might trouble you about seeing a psychiatrist, it would be having her not being prepared.

Princeoftheboxkingdom
I really don't know. there's no real logic to it. Strongly agree with Poof. I once had severe anxiety issues and spent the vast majority of my time alone in the dark in front of my computer and only grocery shopping at like two am. I could barely function with other humans around. Seeing a psychologist and therapy helped me immensely. I'm pretty social now but it took years to progress to now and there were months of more isolation/set backs depending on life. My suggestion is to try and make these sessions useful and helpful. You're there anyway, so why not? Edit: Quoted the wrong post. Was trying to quote the one she was talking about going and taking it seriously. Mini_ghost420
well, that's good. I'll do that. because that the problem I have. other people give me so much anxiety that I don't even wanna be around them. I will go and do this!
