How is this not terrorism? Shit is getting crazy.

It is.  The district the lawmaker was from was safely Democratic to boot.  This is what happens when the news keeps saying the other party is less than human.

the MN House was tied with split control, her passing means the Republicans technically have the majority

Republicans found a new way to win, I guess ☹️

Trump and Noem will probably double down on their rhetoric

"A law enforcement source identified a person of interest being sought by investigators in connection with the shootings Vance Luther Boelter, a man in his 50s from Minnesota."

Refresh the local CBS article to see the latest.

One of both of them will claim that the fliers found in the vehicle about the No Kings protests scheduled in the Cities actually mean that the guy was in charge of all the protests in the whole world and the list of 'victims' was a list of donors to his cause so they should all be rounded up for questioning and then disappeared.

I read he was an “appointee” of Tim Walz? It was a NY Post article and appointee was in quotations. I didn’t get a chance to read the article. It had to run and I didn’t have my phone most of the day

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Post was trying to make him seem like he was a leftist somehow because the Post is less a paper and more of a bullshit take rag

well the article didn’t try to paint him as a liberal but as an anti abortion nut

He was appointed to the governor's workforce council back in 2016 under Dayton. His continuation under Waltz is literally someone who was seen as doing their job keeping that job. The council consists of numerous people from a wide range of work backgrounds to give advice to whoever is the governor regarding the work environment for the actual people. Since no one gets paid for this, there aren't really any in-depth interviews of any kind to get appointed. You just have to have a 'good background' in whatever area you are offering to represent.

From what I saw, his 'letter' of appointment was the equivalent of a form letter that likely went out to everyone on the council and it ended in 2023. Dude's work profile is a mess though. It feels like he's been trying to live like his work means something big but not actually doing that work. It's like if I said I was an expert in powerpoint and then just posted a youtube video.

You’re right this appointment really had nothing to do with his party affiliation

all the politicians on his hit list were democrats or people that were pro choice. He had an anti abortion manifesto.

I read another article that said he was charged w 4 counts of second degree murder. How is it not 1st degree?  Are there no charges against him that the feds can take up and seek the death penalty like they did so swiftly w Luigi Mangione?

after some research it seems the charges will likely be upgraded to 1st degree but they wanted to arrest him quickly and 1st degree charges, in MN, require a grand jury indictment

Roughly an hour ago they held a press conference explaining about that.

Also to be noted MN does not have the death penalty, so in the impending 1st degree murder charges will be life without parole. And as for the federal charges, that's still pending. So expect more news to trickle today and tomorrow.

New update from the Feds:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/vance-boelter-fbi-details-charges-suspect-minnesota-lawmaker-shootings/

According to their investigation, he apparently went to 2 other elected officials before the killing of Rep. Hortman.

Another good info on the shooter's past is from the npr article before they caught him.

Be aware that federal charges can be 'pardoned' by the current orange shithead. And I've already heard murmurs because the guy has a background of being a MAGAt incel and his hitlist was full of democrats that someone might try to push his name in front of the dimwit during pudding time.

Highly doubtful, this guy doesn't have connections, so he's SOL. If anything, former disgraced officer Derek Chauvin would have a slightly better chance of a pardon. That is if somebody is willing to grease an offering that will appeal to that fat fuck but first they'll have to go through the true trump whisperer stephen miller.
