Toonami announces Invisible Fight Girl, Mashle, and the return of Blue Exorcist for November 2024

Great surprise with Blue Exorcist and it'll be good to finally check out Mashle too, never got around to streaming any of it. Good to see CR/Aniplex continuing to return to the block.

Really wasn't expecting any chance of Blue Exorcist ever finding its way back to the block after so many years, not to mention all the time that passed since the anime finally came back in 2017. Even though it's such a perfect show for the block it definitely seemed that ship had sailed after never returning back around 2017. On the plus side, now there's plenty of new eps to start with with two more 12 eps seasons already complete with more starting this month.

Gonna enjoy re-watching, since it's been long enough I could use the refresher myself and remember quite liking the "canon" first-half to two-thirds of the season before we get to see it continue.

Very curious if they'll do something wild like get to skip the anime original rest of the original season and jump right into season 2 where it's supposed to be, I think after ep 16/17?

But it certainly wouldn't shock me if all that crazy red tape between show contracts, Japanese production committees, etc. wouldn't be flexible enough for that kind of thing, maybe even if Toonami and CR/AniplexUSA/AniplexJP were all onboard with it lol.

Back a long time ago, AS was able to skip over the recap episodes of Kikaider and Wolf’s Rain. These were actual episodes of the shows and not specials.

They just skipped 13 episodes of Naruto arbitrarily for Rewind. They absolutely can choose not to air the anime original stuff in BE after ep 16. But they probably won’t because unlike with Rewind the main block has no intention of leaving episodes unaired. A flimsy difference but one I expect they will argue if they ever have to answer for this decision. They paid for then so they will air them and probably milk the contract for every week they can.

If people aren’t aware of the situation, they are going to be confused. Because it’s not just filler- but an alternate diversion of the story done before they knew where it was going- similar to Akame Ga Kill

Yeah, exactly, you have to ignore the eps after 16 (or is it after 17?). But at least it's a pretty clean break point.

(FMA before FMA: Brotherhood being another famous example.)

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that. So couldn't remember if they'd ever done that on a "premiere" or just reruns.

Oh really? That's weird lol, but gotcha, haven't watched Rewind all the time so didn't notice such a recent example.

I agree I was thinking about that too, 9 eps is quite a lot.
