Master-Debater131 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Hillary wont do what everyone wants and just shut up and go away. She continues to be a giant blow hard that no one likes and who wont just do us all a favor and go away, forever. America appears cursed to have to suffer through more Hillary than any sane human ever could want. No, not that Hillary. This one: Normally a Category 4 hurricane in this part of the world wouldn't make much news. They almost always blow away into the Pacific here and just spin away far from any people. But not this time. This hurricane has a path taking it directly up Baja and into Southern California, with San Diego and LA currently square in the bullseye. It wont be a Cat 4 storm by the time it gets there because the water is much colder up there, but it still has the potential to bring torrential rains to the area. Some models are predicting as much as a foot of rain in the foothills. Needless to say, that would be catastrophic for the region. They need water, but not that much that quick. Even if they dont hit the upper limits of the rain forecast there is going to be enough rain to cause all sorts of flooding and damage to the region. 1 Quote
scoobdog Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Would be the first since 1939, and only the third since they started recording weather in the mid 1800’s. Quote
Master-Debater131 Posted August 18, 2023 Author Posted August 18, 2023 These are incredibly rare. It takes some pretty unusual circumstances to track storms this way. Its going to give you a ton of water and fill reservoirs, but its also going to cause all sorts of mudslides and flooding. Quote

Master-Debater131 Posted August 19, 2023 Author Posted August 19, 2023 As expected, its weakening as its heading north. Right now the middle of the prediction cone has it making landfall in Baja and then skirting up the coast, hitting both TJ and San Diego with some serious force. Its winds have died down a bit, which is good, but its still carrying just a ton of moisture. Theyve already asked everyone on Catalina island to evacuate because of the anticipated effects when the storm starts to hit. Timing still looks like its going to have its biggest impact tomorrow. Master-Debater131 Posted August 21, 2023 Author Posted August 21, 2023 The storm doesnt appear to have been as bad as predicted, but theres still some serious flooding out there. Palm Springs appears to be the worst hit. Oh and there was a 5,1 earthquake outside of LA while all this was going on. Quote
