Attack On Titan: The Final Season Episode #62 "Door Of Hope"Discussion

Hope this helps!

Found this condensed simple and helpful timeline of Seasons 1-3 upto the first ep of S4 with no spoilers on Reddit.

Once they reach the basement and discover the journals for the two Grisha flashback episodes at the end of Season 3 Part 2 we saw our crew returned to the capital and have their big debriefing and medal ceremony.
After that meeting in the season finale Armin narrated and we briefly see the seasons change twice before our crew sets out again and finally reached the sea. That period of seasons changing was about 8-9 months where the Scouts remained in the walls letting Hange's new "executioner from hell" kill Titans day and night, as Armin said. Then they reached the sea at the very end of the last episode of Season 3 Part 2.

Between that moment at the sea and premiere of Season 4 Episode 1 is a 3 year timeskip and we pick up as we were introduced to that present day final battle of the current Marley war and the young Eldian "warrior" candidates situations:

the art is also much uglier.....but that's becase it's closer to the manga.....and the manga is really ugly

I think it's more in between since it still have some of the anime styling and I don't think it looks ugly and at times looks close to the past seasons. But at the same time having loved the look of the past seasons I would have liked to see these older versions get designed by the character designer of S1-3 since they did such a great job on the past seasons and they'd obviously be tweaked compared to these. We'd been watching the anime not the manga for these three seasons so just being closer to the manga is not "better" by default.
