i'm usually 100% here for the crying sadboy protagonists, but I can't uster any sympathy for this guy...

It certainly doesn't help so much of the crying comes from retcons since he showed no remorse or sadness from anything he was doing during any of those actual events until they suddenly decided he'd have PTSD from them.

who is dead because EWWWW GAAAYYYS

just like how Asuna's lesbian option had to die....of a Version of AIDS that more closely resembled Covid than real world Aids

But Kirito and Eugeo were never going to be a couple.  Kirito already had Asuna and Eugeo wanted Alice.  Though I suppose it was never said Kirito and Eugeo weren't bi, like I said they were already with/interested in other people.  That was supposed to be a relationship/bro-ship lol.

Reki said that was a platonic relationship.  Since Asuna already had Kirito and a isn't bi as far as we know.  He did mention wanting to write girl love stories though lol.

"In the same interview, Kawahara also revealed that he is a big fan of yuri manga and Bloom Into You in particular. He said that the closest he has ever come to writing yuri is Yuuki and Asuna's relationship in the Mother's Rosario arc, although he doesn't count it because the relationship was platonic. Kawahara said that he would like to write a romantic story between girls one day."

She Ra is much better than this show because gay people don't automatically die, they exist, and the show actally writes villain-to-hero redemption arcs well

Spoiler

Scorpia had an especially great transition between the villain and hero sides.

Yup, great show.

He definitely felt bad about Sachi and her guild but not sure about the others.

Are you talking about the new Netflix show?  Because it looked pretty terrible.  That said, the original He-Man (and probably She-Ra) are cheesy and haven't aged well.

the animation is fucking horrible but the writing is good

also I personally consider Homophobia to be a factor when considering if a series is bad....and SAO is homophobic

I remember it having pretty mixed reviews.  Though a lot of the people complaining it were those anti-SJW morons, who I don't give any credence at all.  Still not a fan of the art style though.

I don't see it that way.  It comes off since you don't like the show you are trying to heap more egregious stuff on it that it isn't guilty of.

I mean SAO isn't "actively" antigay....but like every other thing Reki uses as a source of Drama he does LGBT characters (or LGBT coded characters) really really badly and he does no research into if the way he writes it will come across as bigoted...so it's inadvertantly homophobic due to him just not really caring to learn how to be a better writer

I see it as one of those shows where a lot of characters meet tragic fates, and LGBT or LGBT-seeming characters would be no different.  I mean, so many characters have died or have horrible things happen to them or people they care about in this show.  Although I can see how it could be a bad look for certain characters at times.

Mind control in an MMO with real players?

I think it's because of his murderous bloodlust and hate combined with that power of imagination thing from this world to give Vassago that power.  Because he lost the Dark Knight account and whatever abilities it had and he wouldn't have had these abilities in SAO.

Oh come on that girl was in like 5 minutes of one episode.

Sachi and her guild had a whole episode devoted to them!

I like how he has that baritone sax BGM!

Yes Vassago's theme is pretty great haha.

It may as well Be...knowing that Souls can just be virtualized now makes death pretty cheap

I think are actual souls, and not virtual ghosts but I'm not sure.

What? Wasn't she the one who was giving him and Eugeo a bunch of fighting pointers in this world, did she really get swatted in one move?

Haha are you talking about Liena?  The girl that Kirito could never beat?  I didn't catch that.

well, that was an interesting visual, at least....rising to meet his own hand...

Yeah not sure what was going on there.  Maybe when his fluchtlight was restored it also fixed his arm that got chopped off by Administrator?

Yuuki showing up was pretty cool along with the big Asuna combo attack, even if she sadly didn't beat him (as expected) at least it was something.

Silly me.  I actually thought Asuna would beat Vassago and Sinon would beat Gabriel.  But then I wasn't sure who Kirito would fight.

Spoiler

Then I thought he'd fight whatever that creature was in the OP.  But the creature is not at all what I would have guessed it would be LMAO.

At least they did a lot of damage though and probably made it easier for Kirito to fight them.

Yeah I thought his henchmen could be like a mid-boss for Asuna and Sinon to beat.
