Wait, did the Marlins flip to the AL, or are they still NL?

Both are National League East teams. So, this was a division game. We stomped the shit out of them. Braves are in first place by several games at the moment.

that's good right? I assume you like the braves but if I ever learned anything in life it's that one should not assume things.

Yes, sir. Atlanta Braves all the way.

I also like the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox. Apart from those, I don't really care.

I'm kind of partial to the Chicago Cubs too.

Sounds like Field of Dreams, but they were the Chicago White Sox in that movie.

November 2nd, 2016.  Probably the 2nd hardest I've ever cried in my life

That game was emotional.  It had all the makings of the '03 NLCS vs the Marlins... but they fucking did it

Also you probably didn't know Goldar but he passed at the beginning of that season, the night he passed away he was on a chat and when I joined the first thing he said was "The Cubs are going to win the World Series this year"!

Stung a little not to be able to talk to him about it.  I did get to watch it with my Dad though, and that's a memory I'll never forget

NL has a DH this Season

They've been flirting with the idea of adding it to the for a while now and I think part of the Players Union negotiations for having a Season was experimenting with it

Also any game that goes into extra innings Teams get to start with a runner on 2nd base.

I watched that whole series and was excited as well. I couldn't believe they finally pulled it off and broke the curse. I was pulling for them. Guys like Bryant and Rizzo were fun to watch. Not sure if that was Shwarber's rookie season, but he was fun to watch too. It ranked in my top 3 favorite series's. Along with when the Red Sox finally won back in 04 and when the Braves won in 95.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm saying this as I'm assuming that was the season when the Giants won 102 games in the regular season but still didn't even make it into the playoffs because they Braves won 104, and for some ungodly reason a team from California and a team from Georgia were in the same division as each other.

I don't think that happened bro. I have never heard of the Giants and Braves being in the same division. 1995, the Giants were in dead last in the NL west division. Back by 11 games. Dodgers won the west. I just had to Google that. The Braves were up 21 games in the east.

I was right in that in happened (although the Giants won 103 games, not 102), but you were right in that it was not the 1995 season.

Quote

The 1993 team posted a franchise-best 104 wins after a dramatic pennant race with the San Francisco Giants, who won 103 games.[24] The Braves needed a stunning 55–19 finish to edge out the Giants, who led the Braves by nine games in the standings as late as August 11. However, the Braves fell in the NLCS to the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.

From 1969 to 1993 the Braves were in the western division for some reason.

It's because the Season started so late and they're trying to cram in like 60 games in 3 months plus the playoffs

The Players don't have many days off so they don't want games going 18 innings

Ah yes. I thought what you said sounded kind of familiar, but I also thought, no way.

One of the farthest eastern teams being in the western division made absolutely no sense at all.

I have no idea why they did this.

Yes he can. He's a stout dude and can drive the hell out of it.

Also, your team and my team share a great connection; Greg Maddux.

You'd better be, after the favor they did for Atlanta.  I couldn't believe it when they sent Maddux to the Braves, what the hell were they thinking?

I always liked Maddux, I was a little too young to realize how good he was when he was on the Cubs though

Ryne Sandberg was my favorite, then the Cubs picked up Andre Dawson and he became my new favorite player

Jason Heyward reminds me a lot of him
