I don't game.  I haven't signed up for anything in weeks.  None of my software is in anyway related to this and none of my accounts have been charged - what's the scam?

Could be a password farm, the confirmation email bounces to both of you and they stay on top of it. Could be one of those places you can display password characters.

Could just be an ad since you made a purchase from a related service, XSplit makes me think it's related to cable providers for some reason.

I was kinda thinking the former.  They sucker people in to either complaining they didn't order this (confirming live email) or clicking a bogus link or thinking, "hey, some schlub bought this & they think it's me...free service/whatever".  I'm not taking whatever the bait is, but all of those possibilities seem rather weak for the email effort.  I would think there'd be an obvious cash grab involved, but other than the $39.95 receipt ($48 something after taxes) that I haven't shucked out any bucks for, I don't see any means of getting someone's funds.

20% tax rate? seems legit.

Xsplit is streaming software.  Do the emails use a name/username?  Is it possible someone typed in an email wrong and it was yours instead?  As a precaution, check your credit card/paypal statements and change your email password.

Already said I checked my accounts (nothing out of the ordinary) and I never use paypal.  As for the username, I'd have no way of knowing if someone misspelled the one I use on gmail.

I just mean is your email something that someone might mistype easily (a name and suffix, for instance, that might have slight variations like johnsmits vs johnsmita), or is it crazy?  As far as usernames, I meant in the emails that were sent, did it say, "Hi Tsar123, blahblahblah" or "here's your account info username: blablabla    password: blahblahblah.

Nope, nothing like that at all.  The only place my gmail id appears is in the header, nowhere in the body.  The receipt email is just a transaction email.
