I have a 50 min layover and I'm terrified I'll miss my flight

what airport?

I'm supposed to layover in chicago on wednesday. the airline is letting ppl change their flight for free to avoid the snowstorm. I feel like if I do the storm will shift but if I don't I know I'm fucked. so that's what i'm up to rn

it is possible to land in charlotte and your connecting flight be about a kilometer away and there's no trams, good luck! :D

I had a layover in Charlotte last week. It's only a 30 minute flight from my city to there, the layover was longer

I'd get out.  Doesn't matter if it's ORD or MDW, they're still talking >6 inches of snow.

I'm already half expecting that I'm going to need to drive back. 50 minutes is not a lot of time to make a flight

I felt like 50 minutes was a perfect amount of time, by the time I found my gate and had a beer it was time to board.

I don't connect there til late at night on wednesday. The snowstorm is supposed to be done at noon. I can arrive in la way later and that's fine. The time I leave cleveland is more important than when I get there. If they can't change me to the right departing time from CLE then I may have to stick w/what I have. The storm is to the south ORD is north of it sorta on the edge of the path. They're forecasting about 5 inches at ORD on both tuesday and wednesday.

It's not a surprise storm, so they'll be prepared.

I will probably be delayed but I'll be okay. If I'm delayed I'll be here posting a lot so that'll be fun.

Still I'm on hold now and I'mma see what's up

They'll reroute you if you miss a connecting flight. You'll probably make it anyway

it's not just about actively falling snow. drifting conditions afterwards can be equally bad. if it's cold and windy enough (and it's supposed to be low of 16* with "blustery" winds) then the drifting could also impact air travel into thursday. not a risk i'd be willing to take.

if they couldn't have rerouted me just now, I'd have to have stuck with it. Even w/snowdrifts, they'd have all the plows there standing by at that point without too much to do since there wouldn't be any new accumulation, and I was scheduled for like 8 hours after the snow was supposed to stop.

It could've still gone bad, but it wouldn't have really fucked w/my plans unless I was delayed over 18 hours. Doesn't matter to me now anyway.

if anyone knows how to handle snow, it's a temperate-climate airport. they may very well continue to operate just fine. the three big models aren't 100% in agreement on path, so it's possible the nasty pushes north or dies off before getting there. but i'll be damned if i'm putting myself in a position to be stranded in o'hare overnight at any time of the year.

"Moving south" just means that it's also going to hit some of central Illinois.  Nothing has changed about the levels of snow we're supposed to get.

that's my feeling on it as well. the models have it pretty well pegged at this point. only factor is a shifty path that may or may not (probably not) happen. we're on the hook for around 3" but that could go down if the track moves north. at any rate, meteorological winter isn't over for another week. but my body is ready right now.

50 minutes was my layover, it was fine. I walked straight from gate E to C no problem, might've missed it if I waited in a long ass Starbucks line or something but nah making the plane was easy

I give up.  Now they're saying O'Hare might get 2.1 in.

And one service is now saying we could get up to 12" down here. That should make someone's day.

Initially, they were saying that Jo Daviss County (upper NW corner of Illinois) could get better than 15 inches - now nothing.

i grew up in jo daviess and a lot of my family still lives there. they could probably do fine by no more snow this winter.

Everyone is shitty in their own way except Jet Blue. Southwest would be okay if they'd just assign ppl seats

so, jet blue > southwest > everyone else
