no worries, I was just messing around.....I don't read this thread after a fight if I don't already know who won...

poor bastid didn't stand a chance, did he?

Not at all, kinda felt bad for the guy, he didn't seem like a bad fighter but now I think his confidence is rocked.

Need to see Lomachenko against someone like Mikey Garcia next, the complete domination is getting old, it's impressive but not very fun like a Mayweather fight.

idk, unlike Mayweather or even Rigondeaux, his style is more crowd friendly, so they could easily keep promoting him as the best thing since sliced bread while he keeps blowing overmatched opponents out of the water....there's little risk in it and he could just keep raking in the dough with these quick turnarounds 'cause he takes no damage....

I think the issue is more that no one is a match for Lomachenko at Featherweight so he's gotta move up, but then the best Lightweights wanna move up to Welterweight cus of the action and attention there....thankfully, Mikey Garcia says he wants Loma but then he also seems open to the idea of moving up to Welter....

Last night I watched three fights.

Vargas/Rios was fun to watch, Mayweather/McGregor was just meh, but the Cotto/Kamegai fight was my fave. Outside of the spectacle match, everyone is new to me, so seeing Cotto's skills were a treat. His movements were always smooth, and you can tell how calculated he is. I can't even remember Cotto's coach saying a word to him because of how well he was fighting. I really want to see him face a stronger opponent. Kamegai didn't have enough defense, but what the fuck is his head made out of? And his face. No one's face should look that good after taking so many shots.

That's because having a DVR is awesome. Did people not think that Cotto would fight well because yeah it seemed strange to me to have that good of a fighter on the same night as the PPV bull. Then again, I never understood how all that stuff worked among HBO/Showtime/PPV.

Cotto is awesome, but his best years are behind him. HBO using him as a symbolic fuck U counter program seems par for the course...

I wasn't too surprised Choclatito lost, he's been showing signs of decline for the past year or two, was kinda surprised about how one sided it was tho.

I had heard of Naoya Inoue but hadn't seen him fight before this undercard, he looks like a problem, really good jab and heavy handed, he's probably gonna take this weight class by storm soon....that's if anyone wants to fight him.

Kovalev doesn't look like he's lost a step after the Ward fights, if anything gained one.

that Russian fortitude came in handy....it would have been a shame if the losses to Ward broke him mentally....

the Ward losses have sharpened him, I'll miss watching Andre but it's better than sticking around too long and getting punch drunk love like Hopkins, knowing Ward's past with hiatuses I have a feeling he might make a brief reappearance or two to the square.

that exit was super rare, but I think more fighters will start to go this route....at least I hope they will....there's a lot more information now and greater willingness to utilize it....

There are definitely examples this year of how long not to fight, between Pac and Cotto not lookin top notch in their late 30s.....and well the emphatic one with Hopkins, don't like seeing fighters get hurt unnecessarily in a sport where they already risk their future.

and those guys are at the top making the big money....there are countless in the salt mines destroying themselves for next to nothing...

In Thailand, muay thai is huge and there are no amateurs...so even 10 year olds are fighting for money to go to their families or the the gyms that adopted them....huge population of young men with brain damage...

guys at the top have options, but everybody else has gotta eat....

I don't know much about the fight game outside of our country but that sounds pretty awful...

Boxing needs to widen its lens even here tho, I guess Rigondeaux is finally getting a big fight but still....

Naoya Inoue looks ready for a title match but probably won't get one for a couple years, relatively unknown.

Alexander Usyk has skills like I've never seen in a natural light heavyweight but everyone wants to talk about Joshua because he's heavyweight champ.

There's a lot of talent in boxing right now and I hope they get some light but boxing seems to love shooting itself in the proverbial foot.

no argument here....but it could always be worse...like I said, guys in muay thai, even the best, make nothing....the top draw in mma had to come to boxing to get his payday....the grappling world isn't even worth mentioning

I don't know much about Thailand in general or mma but the boxing anime Hajime no Ippo touches on the Thai boxing scene in a few eps during the first season and it doesn't come off as an ideal situation for fighters or just citizens, so it seems like they did a nice job on it.

I was disappointed too, I expected it to be closer, I thought Loma would win by late stoppage in a decently tough fight for once.

Kinda feel for Rigo there wasn't much he could do, every time he went into his roll Loma was timing it with straights that killed his momentum and he couldn't wrap up without Loma bucking like a bronco in what looked very exhausting.

I just think Loma is a martian at this point, making top level fighters look like bums, don't picture him losing to anyone, especially not at 135

Saunders earned my respect, I thought he was a ducker with the inactivity but seeing him last night made me think he had a hiatus for personal reasons (I mean Ward did it too) I know Lemieux wasn't the best test but he boxed so convincingly that he's gotta be in the middleweight convo again, this was Lemieux's worst loss of his career in front of his home fans, even tho GGG stopped him he showed heart in that fight, Saunders demoralized him.
