Olmoldy thought we were collectively worse off for not having a draft/great war to toughen up us younguns, I do remember that much.

Sounds like my great uncle. But I do love my great uncle. He can also cook, so he has that going for him.

So the user in question was a fully functional, likable human being who could actually cook food properly?

No, he was just likable.

I just remember he was super accepting of me after I came to my senses politically and called westpark a kraut repeatedly, which I found hilarious.

Lol yeah the kraut stuff was funny, ofc he would never let wp live down revealing his German heritage. He was a boomer democrat fixated on the greatest generation gimmick, the dude would make threads commemorating the anniversary of like 5 WW2 events every year, D-Day and Pearl Harbor and other dusty old shit no one remembers the dates of.

I mean I see that as almost charming, certainly I have more in common with a generic new deal democrat than any of the gen x neoliberal psychopaths that have been running things since the 80s. Not that social demcorats of that era didn't have a fuck ton wrong with them, but I would say on balance, they were better than what came directly after.
