yeah...once you saw/heard the opening credits, it was time to scarf down the lucky charms and get the hell out of the house.

Way after my time.  My signal was when my female cousins would demand I change the channel to "My Friend Flicka".  (Horses...Meh)

before my time. 

but when i lived in vermont, there was a station (probably and most likey public access) that would show old reruns of flash gordon,  bowery boys, and

a few other shows. i actually liked that stuff. the cliff hangers...man, how did kids do it?  because weren't these originally pre~movie at the cinema?

It was the draw to get you to come back to the theater, and really just a carryover from the days of radio serials.  WGN (Chicago) ran Flash Gordon, Buck Rodgers, Charlie Chan (Keye Luke as #1 son) movies & Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone - or do you say Razzle Bathbone?) movies on Sunday mornings leading into Cubs or WSox baseball.  I thought it was cool that Spielberg said his Indiana Jones movies were partly inspired by those movie serials.
