It is intermittent. Now i can go to all the doctor appointments and therapy sessions i want. And if i mess up with my meds or didn't get enuff sleep, i dont have to struggle to drive to work over tired. This is just awesome all around. I do like my job but i need to take care of myself, too!

Haha. You found a way to get out of going to work.

You will murder this system.

You will be absent more than you will be present.

All of those unpaid days off are going to kill your finances.

I told the Dr. To put parameters on it so i dont fuck with paying bills. Like i cant take a whole week off or something like that

Haha. You have to have a prescription to be a responsible adult.

This is comedy gold.

And in New Jersey, most employers are required by state law to offer one hour of paid sick leave for each thirty hours worked.

as long as they have something documented which states that it's not for a protected reason then i don't really see how. we've had people go out on disability for a month at my place and then stay for a long time.

In slug's case there is plenty of reason to fire, the goofing off here, giving advice when not licensed, all the petty and stupid drama that gets reported et al..

In the abstract, most places just fire with no reason given, it is the easiest way to protect yourself.

Then again, most employers won't fire unless they have to, it just looks bad and lowers morale.

i know a girl that was fired after going on a month of leave and coming back but she sucked and her numbers were crap

At will states do not need a reason to fire you.

We live in an at will state. You can get fired because the boss doesn't like your shoes.

Whitey up there will be fired in a few months, then we will get a week of manic rants.

firing somone because you dont like their shoes is discrimination and illegal by way of federal law

i'm not going to bat for her behavior on here, but you'd be surprised how many people goof off for hours. maybe it's different in big business than it is at a call center, but a good boss doesn't care what you do for the most part as long as the work gets done. but yeah, no one really needs a reason to fire anyone unless you're union or something. that being said, i don't think i've ever seen a case where someone was really fired for no reason. i've seen good people get laid off, but i don't think i've seen someone good get singled out and fired without some sort of documentation (performance, tardiness, whatever)

the same boss he wants to fire me for people goofing off just rehired like 10 people and sat them back at their old desk from which their thin clients have been removed.. so these people have been sitting at their desks staring at blank screens for an ENTIRE WEEK

she also has certain lines of business who get like 1 or 2 calls an HOUR

she also doesnt have facebook blocked... this website was blocked and then one day UNBLOCKED and ive been using it since discovering it was added to the approved website list and no longer firewalled (i didnt ask or anything... by habit i press U sometimes and try to get here from work... the must have seen it blocking me and then opened it up one day)

LMAO

Wut?

Work getting done?

That isnt sustainable when the environment is inevitably going to change. We look for innovators and solution makers. Getting the job done is for McDonalds, I expect above and beyond at all times and set the goals quarterly to continue to meet, and I compensate bi annually for hard work.

Work getting done can go fuck off.

our industries are different. i'm not sure what it is exactly that you do, but from what i've gathered you work in some banking related capacity where there's likely some sort of monetary metric. we don't have that sort of metric, and as "above and beyond" is incredibly subjective there's no way to be "above and beyond at all times". having such a requirement is a great way to have your team filled with a bunch of contractors where you get to chase people down all day because no FTEs want to work for you.

metric wise they only thing i wasnt exceeding was adherence because i was having bad anxiety and taking long bathroom breaks... then THAT metric was only like 1% off... not in red..but in yellow

i exceed all my goals that matter in regards to quality scores, calls handled and handling time. i probably take the most calls out of many in the center because i double as a claims specialist

I know. I'm generally pretty tolerant when it comes to goofing off, it comes with employing millennials. I set goals, I expect them to be met. If you don't meet them, I want to know why. If it is something you can't handle, then I'll find out what you can handle, and you'll do that. About the only thing I will fire you outright for is breaking the NDA. You don't break the fucking NDA.

you say that and yet i've seen at least one department in the past year that got cut because they couldn't retain their people because the director and SVP were too demanding. and, for the record, i've never gotten a rating below "above and beyond"

to clarify when I say department, the director and SVP pretty much made up the entire department after some point. everyone else except for one or two other people bailed

sawdy talks a big game and goes traveling all over and spends most his time in meetings and on here not doing any of what he calls the "grunt" work but doesnt realize the truth is he is ahead of line to be laid off when his company starts suffering or wants to reduce cost cuz all sawdy does is nonessential bloat work. i get fired and that like one less of only 5 people who can do what i do well in my entire fucking company. i know the call volume for claims was fucked today because i took off.

also @Ginguy i didn't know you were in management. i thought you did political consulting related work. actually i'm curious, without telling too much, what ARE the goals in political consulting anyway. getting a certain number of donations from big donors pledged and making sure they're happy?

Sawdy doesn't have to rely on minimum wage shit jobs. He has a career. You have a shitty job.

Big difference.

He gets pieces of shit like you to do his grunt work.

People like you will never move up in society.

Minimum wage, government handout bitch.

Fucking call center shit job. Followed up with a dollar store shit job.

I'm wherever and whatever they need me to be. Actually, I've been doing more work outside politics than not lately, working on a project I can't really discuss. For the most part, it is talking to people, planning effective ways to make lasting positive contacts, get more active volunteers (always this) and to a certain extent donors, though I usually try to avoid that.

I don't give a damn about the donors being happy. Dollars don't vote.

yeah i also can't really talk about what i do too much either so i get it. i am curious to see what the scope of being "effective" entails. our scope can be subjective based upon what it is that you've been tasked with. there's a larger goal of course, but your goal is usually a much smaller piece of that. you can go above it to a certain extent, but usually only so much without going across LOBs

you try and find a call center that lets you work m-f and get off everyday at 5pm with 160 hours paid time off. also do it and try not to get fired in less than 7 days like someones wife i know

hey thanks for hopping on my webex in such short notice. sorry for the ad-hoc meeting, but we're close to not meeting our deliverables in time for Q3 close. can everyone see my screen? ok, please put yourselves on mute. we need to talk about how we want to circle back with the business to determine why we're seeing scope creep.
