In slug's case there is plenty of reason to fire, the goofing off here, giving advice when not licensed, all the petty and stupid drama that gets reported et al.. In the abstract, most places just fire with no reason given, it is the easiest way to protect yourself. Then again, most employers won't fire unless they have to, it just looks bad and lowers morale. I'm generally pretty tolerant when it comes to goofing off, it comes with employing millennials. I set goals, I expect them to be met. If you don't meet them, I want to know why. If it is something you can't handle, then I'll find out what you can handle, and you'll do that. About the only thing I will fire you outright for is breaking the NDA.
