It was thought that Xerxe was just lying down, not even involved in the fight, but he actually had laid out some trap spells. However, Xerxe caught Asta up in a paralysis spell to draw in the enemy, then taunted and teased the enemy before finishing them off, which did not sit well with Asta, Mimosa, or just about anyone else.
