nothing -wrong- with it inherently, it was just cheap Farberware set when i got it about 5 years ago and it's starting to show. most of the cookware stuff i see online that everyone says is good is either crazy expensive or impractical for a single guy. what do you guys have

Where I live, a mixture of things but the main things I use are Rock pans.

Now, I know Rachael Ray is a big hit with us here on UEMB, so hear me out. My stepmother bought har branded cookwae set about 5 years ago, and it still looks band new, it works very well (I've even used bits from it) and the handles are a grippy heat-resistant silicone material. Then again you don't cook a lot. You probably could just get new Faberware shit xD:P

i cook a lot more than i used to. i need to impress the girl somehow since she, for some reason, asks me to cook for her sometimes :P . the ones that are really showing their age are the skillets. the pots are pretty much fine for the most part

Cast iron is worth it then..... it's actually not all that hard to take care of.

yeah but if i was going cast iron, i'd have to go talk to my grandparents and see if they'd be willing to give me their set. i'm pretty sure their cast iron pans are older than time itself

Unless there are metal shavings in your food, I wouldn't worry about it. There are better things to spend your money on if you want to impress a girl.

i'm not trying to use the quality of the cookware to impress her, that'd be shallow and frankly i don't think she'd really notice. they've been deteriorating for a while now and it's only getting worse with the increased usage.

I've used a lot of old pots and pans over the years and still do. If my assumptions are correct and they're deteriorating and affecting your food then I would get new ones asap, but if not, I say wait.

Definitely!! Well seasoned!

And honestly even if you need to re-season it, just coat it with olive oil and bake it at 350 for about 15 minutes... no joke.

Sasha's mom's grill has a cast iron skilled attachment and I seasoned it like that but used bacon grease.

i'm not sure of the condition of it, but i know they don't really cook anymore so i'd have to ask if they even still have it. otherwise i'd have to think about it

Cast iron lasts literally forever as long as it's not like, left outside in the elements or worse for years

the last time i saw the set was about a decade ago so idk if they still even have it. i would hope they wouldn't just toss it but who knows. i'm reading in a lot of places that cast iron takes longer to heat up than a regular nonstick pan

It does, but the heat is more evenly displaced and it's also pretty easy to clean.
