Where are you getting your beef that it isn't expensive for good quality jerky midnight.

That LOOKS kind of bland, but for that kind of price I'd totally pull a 'shut up and take my money kind of thing.' Next time I go through the Dallas metroplex area I'll try to locate this place.

They have what looks like a deli filled with different jerky...and then they have prepackaged ones...oh and the jerky deli? Free samples...of anything that catches your fancy

We actually have made deer jerky.

But we have used flank steak, or eye of round to make jerky.

If you know what you're doing, you can actually make jerky on the smoker.

We really like the deer jerky though.

That's why I really want to go on a hunting trip.. If nothing else since I'm between jobs I'd just try to sell all my jerky.. Due to my days in the military though I have preferred to stay away from guns.. I could still hunt without them, but meh. I'm still trying to work this shit out. I was also raised by a do it yourself kind of gunsmith guy that was really intelligent. He had his license and all. Still he made a lot of enemies here, and wasn't a saint.

You can always go bow hunting when the season is in.

We have lots of land to hunt on here. We usually just take a rifle, but we have bows too.

We have 6 rabbits in the yard now, and they have to go before I plant the garden. Rabbit stew might be happening.

I have never had squirrel. But wild boar is as good as a domesticated hog. We have trapped them and sold them before. They are rampant here.

Gator tail isn't bad and neither are crawfish.

I've literally almost bought a bow that's the same brand Darrel uses in the walking dead without knowing lol..

It costs as much as a friggin beater car or something though so it's hard to make that final click for me. xD

I had a crossbow back when I lived in the real Texas boonies. Served me well.

That's funny.

I don't even remember the last time I shot ours. It's been a while.

I've never killed a deer with one. Only a rifle. And my fucking truck.

lol yeah the truck does come in handy if you have a clearing lol. I've never hit a deer with a crossbow either.. That's why I don;t really want to try now..Where I was there was plenty of tasty game fowl for the picking though.

Duck hunting is my favorite. Just wait for a flock to fly over, and point up and blast the shot gun. I've fired so rapidly before, I had to wait on the barrel to cool down. It would turn red. Yep. Good times.

Yeah I eat gator and crawfish...but I didn’t encounter that until I moved south...will say...not a fan of shark

I have never eaten shark. Ever. Didn't even know folks were eating Jaws.

In NY we would eat emu and kangaroo...the busiest stall at the state fair was the roo-balls stand...like kangaroo meatballs with dipping sauce...

I never shot at a deer with one either I must add though. I didn't mess with them when I was little. Disney's Bambi probably had me fucked up.

My grandfather was big into the outdoors. He used to hunt everyday during the season. He kinda made me start going at a young age. Of course, with my family, it is tradition to ''blood you'' on your first kill. Meaning, when I shot my first deer, my grandfather reached into the wound and pulled out a pile of blood and smeared it on my face. That was a bit traumatizing. But we have our own deer processor here at the shop. We can skin them and process them right here.

I have had emu. A guy used to make BBQ sandwiches from them. He had a farm where he raised them.

I have also had kangaroo, but I didn't care for it.

And I have always passed on the rattlesnake.

And hahaha @ roo-balls.

I used to shoot Pheasants, and quail mostly.. I hit some ducks with a blowdart rig one time only the fool didn't die, and it made me feel bad so I kept him.. I hit deer with shotguns and whatever rifle my old step dad used to use lol.. I've even hunted some wild pigs in Georgia.

Yeah. Sometimes when you shoot a bird down, it doesn't kill it. That's when we have to break it's neck. Just pick it up by the head and spin it's body. I know that sounds harsh, but when you're hunting for food, that's what you have to do.

I have zero remorse for Wild pigs.. Or pigs for that matter. Plenty of bad experiences growing up.

Razorbacks SUCK when they're wild.

I think I'm going to start back trapping hogs this year. I could use a freezer full of pork.

Ya know I was just telling LB that I was kinda disappointed in the south...cause being in a pro-gun place...the people here like hunting and love their meats...I was shocked at the lack of protein diversity...

when i lived in upstate ny...we had elk, bison, caribou, moose, ostrich, emu, boar....and we had it in many forms...from steaks and ground fresh meat...to sausages, jerky and in “slim Jim” ....

Aww man they taste like fucking... I don't even know.. You fry 'em up over a fire in the woods with the proper cuts, and seasoning. It's better than you will EVER taste.. Still weirds me out to kill something, and eat it like that even but. :S

Pigs will fight back though given the chance, and a lot of times even attack you without provocation so.. That's kind of wht I've experienced a lot anyway so it helps me not to feel so guilty.

The variety is very hard to come by down here. I have never seen venison in a store.

I have to go to an upscale market to find lamb when we cook it.

I order jowl meat from the butcher. I don't really buy meats from regular grocery stores. I usually go to a butcher or abattoir.

We recently found milk from a dairy farm, and bought their butter and beef products. But we can make butter just as good as theirs.

I love pork. Not chops so much, but bacon, the ham, jowls, and the shoulder.

Did you share with your cat?

I used to share dried squid bits with her but she's getting older and doesn't really want that chewy stuff anymore.

She did steal a venison jerky package out of the garbage and walk around with it for a bit like that was going to guilt me but nope. She can't eat fish so the salmon jerky was a nope, the bison jerky has like currents or some fruit crap in it which she won't touch anyway, and the venison jerky has pepper. She can make all the angry fuzz faces she wants but I'm the one who has to clean the litter box.

She's gonna claw the hell out of your toes tonight when you're sleeping. She knows you are talking about food.

She's going to claw my brains out when the door buzzer goes off in 5 minutes.

She's mugged me for Arby's in the past, I have buffalo wings coming in now.
