Kohl's closed my credit card

Haven't used it in like, 2 and a half years so I'm not super surprised but it's kind of annoying that they didn't notify me they were about to close it first. I was worried they'd close it due to lack of use but I just put in a request for a credit line increase, which was approved so I figured I was good for awhile.

If I call and ask to have it reopened will it show up as a new account? It was one of my older accounts so would probably be worth reopening if not.

Yeah, some will close your account after less than a year of inactivity, so I think the advice is make a purchase at least every 2 or 3 months if you want to keep that card.

my mastercard is probably the least used out of the ones i have. there's no real benefits to it but it's my second oldest card so i have to use it.

That's how my capital one card is now. I have no real use for it anymore since it only gives 1.5% back and 99% of my purchases fit into one of the 5% bonus categories of my other cards. It also has a really high limit so I need to keep it open.

I used to work for Target in their in-house credit card division. No notice is common and you'll probably have to open a new one.

That sucks. They should at least send an email or something.

I can still log into my account and everything but my credit report is saying it's closed so idk.

No real point in reopening it. My average age of credit actually went up slightly and my overall score only went down a few points.

ignore nabs. you're in the right here. in the whole time i've had my mastercard i've maybe made like $15 in cash back because it's so bad. the amex made triple that in two months

It's pretty underhanded but that's the credit industry. I fielded a lot of angry calls with people bitching me out for something that wasn't my decision.

You could try asking, maybe Kohl's works differently but if it's backed by a major creditor like Visa or MasterCard then you're probably SOL.
