how old is he? is he sick? or, did you just piss him off and he's giving you the silent treatment.

This.  Changes in animal behavior almost always have underlying health causes.

you know..you can do that yourself. rubber glove, and squeeze that smelly puff of gross.

if not..you should ask the vet HOW to, because once they get them, they will always get them. :(

Honestly I might. Only thing is I don't want to give him an infection or make it worse. I'd take him today but the groomer at petco is closed

I feed him Purina 1 true instincts turkey. Thing is he's been eating that for years. He's only recently started having problems.

you may want to rethink his diet. he may have been ok with this for a long time, but you know diet affects anal glands terribly.

think about blue and also some rice/liver mix at least once a week.

i used to mix up large pots of this for the pet rescue once a week. doggos were so much happier having it, and it is really good for them.

I mean, enough people do it at home where I think you'd have to do it with dirty poop hands to give him an infection.  Isn't it basically just squeeze and try not to barf because it's gross?

Also, I second the reconsider his diet.  Purina isn't the greatest of quality anymore, if they ever were.

Sorry...he wanted to know how to do it....but honestly it’s better to do this than let it rupture...they’ll be blood and puss everywhere...

Ok, first, ew.  Second, EWW

Third, what happened in dog evolution where this became a thing?  Why do they now need assistance in ...doing whatever it is these glands accomplish?  I assume territory marking or something like that.

and fourth, EEEWWWWWWWWW

This is the second time this has happened so I definitely think it's time for a change

Fuck.... I really don't want to do that. But I hate the thought of him being in pain.

We’ll I’d still talk to a vet...if it’s so pronounced that it needs to be lanced then this may not be a good idea

thats the best and most responsible idea.  The vet can also advise you better on your pooch's food and butt-squeezing needs
