Daos
Gundam is like Detective Conan. It's one of those things Japan just loves no matter how many episodes they make.

CaptainStarwind
Live-action American Gundam, huh? What is it with live action American remakes of anime nowadays, huh? I mean we got Death Note, then we hear of Cowboy Bebop and SAO, and now Gundam? Do people honestly want these things?
PokeNirvash
Only those who refuse to so much as associate themselves with an anime, even if the story's good. Those kind of people piss me off like you wouldn't believe.
Jman
The idea of Gundam (whether it’s an adaptation of the Origin, or judging by the timetable, one of Gundam F91) replacing Game of Thrones as the big show America is obsessed with has a certain appeal. It being another Death Note, or worse, G-Saviour, does not.
Chapinator_X
HBO wouldn't need or want a show like Gundam unless it has titties, "fucks", or gore, all of which have never been a Gundam staple. It's not punchy enough in those regards to offer anything that HBO would want to broadcast. At most, American Live Action Gundam would work within the confines of a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu. Something that would take a chance on a space opera that is vanilla in every way except for exploding mechs and the lingering effects of war. Or SyFy if G-Savior is what they're looking into replicating.
The1gairon
Fuck me. Why does the Hollywood live-action virus spread over to anime now?!?
OwlChemist81
Is it just me, or does anyone else want this to go in the opposite direction: animated versions of popular live action HBO shows on Toonami, not live-action versions of Toonami shows on HBO!

Those kind of people piss me off like you wouldn't believe. I know far too many people who refuse to believe that anything animated can ever be up to par with something live action. Even something like Bebop. I guess there's still a stigma associated with animation. It can never be anything serious, only good for porn or comedy. I've had to practically hide the fact that I watch anime from my parents just because I don't want/need to hear their teasing and commenting about it anymore. It gets really frustrating. 21 hours ago, imchapp.in said: HBO wouldn't need or want a show like Gundam unless it has titties, "fucks", or gore, all of which have never been a Gundam staple. I'm also curious as to how people will react to the copious amounts of CGI that's going to go into a live action Gundam. 6 hours ago, OwlChemist81 said: Is it just me, or does anyone else want this to go in the opposite direction: animated versions of popular live action HBO shows on Toonami, not live-action versions of Toonami shows on HBO! Honestly I don't really feel the need to go in that direction, either. Especially if there is still a stigma against serious animation, then most people will probably disregard an animated adaptation of something like Game of Thrones right off the bat, just because the live action version "can tell a more serious story." I apologize for the cynicism. It was a long night tonight and a really rainy drive home.
Jman
We’re getting a live action One Piece, and Oda has creative control. Unless he’s asleep at the wheel, that show won’t have everyone having sex either. Gundam makes way more sense.

If any version of The Origin got off the ground odds are it would include all the sex from the novel trilogy. Then again (true story) Tomino is a guy who, when a magazine published nude art of Sayala from 0079, called said magazine to POINT OUT EVERY DETAIL OF HER UNMENTIONABLES THEY GOT WRONG. He seriously did that.
