Dragon Ball Z Kai Episode 159 Discussion

Recommended Posts

ah, the episode where Vegeta

just gives up on all his life goals and decides he should give up on ever getting stronger

(thankfully Super retconned his little "epiphany" into something more within reason than him just giving up on his entire life goal)

namely in Super he's shown to still be trying to get stronger, but instead of trying to outdo Goku he's doing it to protect the people he loves, namely Bulma, Trunks, Bulla, Cabba...and maybe also Goku since he admits he likes Goku to himself in that one episode where they're training together

That's another reason Super annoyed me. This was Vegeta's big moment of realization.... and they toss it all out the window in Super and go back to square 1.

giving up on ever getting stronger is kinda the absolute worst thing anyone in this universe can do though

also Super was rather adamant on showing that Vegeta's motive for getting stronger was now different, namely he's trying to get stronger so he can protect his family now, in fact keeping vegeta devoted to getting stronger is one of the only GOOD things Super did

also this raises an interesting question, is Otherworld an actual planet you can reach through regular means?, because kid buu got there somehow

Goku's been able to use Instant Transmission to reach King Kai's planet since the Cell Saga and initially he could only reach it from the Afterlife.

I thought they wouldn't have this Hell scene in Kai.  Especially since it contradicts Frieza's hell in Super.

much of Super contradicts Z, bottom line is Toriyama and Toei don't care about canon all that much
