garbagepailcat
I had asked y’all about it before, but I didn’t go through with it cause I hoped the harassment would stop. It didn’t. Now I have a temporary protective order, and I go to court later this month to get it extended. Shit sucks, and I’m super overwhelmed by all of it. Being in a courthouse makes me more nervous than I can explain, and I really don’t want to get anyone in trouble. I have the whole “fuck a narc” mindset, and I’m trying to convince myself that this is different and that I’m not a snitch. Still, I feel an immense sense of guilt about everything, and I don’t have the time to process any of it because I’m in the middle of my senior semester, struggling to get my thesis done and maintain the appearance of a functioning human. Sorry for the blog post. I don’t have many people to talk to, and I wanted to bitch a little.
Mewn
Bitch away! And you're not a snitch! You feel unsafe and it's the best solution, no problem. Yeah, courthouses suck, no one ever wants to do that, but hopefully it went by fast.

Ginguy
You shouldn't feel bad at all. You have the right to lead a normal life free from harassment. Obviously this person is going well beyond the run of the mill being a lousy ex kind of nonsense since the Court granted the TPO. Be sure to follow up with the court and you won't have to worry about this guy. If he violates the TPO, have him busted immediately. You aren't playing games, and neither will the Court. Don't worry about the blog post either, sometimes people just need to share/vent.

katt_goddess
There's nothing wrong with blowing off some steam around here. If you hold it in, you'll just get ulcers and stress headaches. And arf anyone who ever tries to tell you that snitching is wrong or try to make you feel guilty for breaking silence. Most of those assholes are the ones who benefit the most from keeping everyone around them quiet.

I have to be in a courtroom with the guy who I got the TPO against, and that’s pretty nerve-wracking. Thanks for the reassurance!

I got tickled about it. I know that this is a different situation, and I need the help of judges and police. I still feel weird about it though, like I should have been able to handle it on my own, but I just can’t. I feel like I should have been able to handle it on my own, and I just can’t. It’s an incredibly unpleasant feeling all around. and it’s pretty standard on the street that no snitching policies don’t apply to heinous shit like pedophiles, woman beaters, stalkers, etc
DragonSinger
You have nothing to feel guilty about. You deserve to live peacefully, and your ex brought this on himself. This is the right thing to do for your safety.

The only times he'll stick to the script, so to speak, is if the quote is regarding something about HR or S&P policies which is rare. Actually, knowing that you need the help of cops and judges is a sign of being able to handle it on your own. Because you are making the decision to bring in that sort of help before someone has to make that decision for you in your absence.
