mochi
Cowboy Bebop stands alone IMO as it's own thing, a dark Space adventure Seinen Anime with a tragic ending and surprisingly very little fanservice considering how it's main female character dresses Outlaw Star is a Homophobic Shonen version of Cowboy bebop with marginally more fanservice and Space Dandy is like a soft Parody of both, with a ton of fanservice, but oddly mostly of it's male characters (it's not like there's no fanservice of Honey or Scarlet but most of the nude or sexual scenes involve Dandy)
Jman
Outlaw Star is not homophobic, first of all. Bebop is noir sci-fi (focus on how little humanity changes, low and hi tech meeting, drama over relationships), Outlaw Star is pulp sci-fi (space battles! Super guns! And a guy with a crew of hot women on his super special ship! Gene is a more reserved version of a Buck Rodgers or Flash Gordon, but he still gets the girl in the end), and Dandy is satire of sci-fi.
Daos
They're all classified as "Space Cowboy" shows.

dregj
i found outlaw star quite homophobic ,but since it was made over 20 years ago i didn't really care.its a product of its time.
PokeNirvash
For the last time, just because Fred Luo isn't the most subtle of gays, it does not automatically mean the show is afraid of them.
The1gairon
You title your thread "they're all versions of each other" only to talk about how they're DIFFERENT from each other?

I suppose a similar example would be the contrast between how Disney and Warner Bros handle racism in their 1930s animated shorts.
