  1. Ugh Ted Cruz’s sloppy seconds. That’s why I don’t go to Mazatlan anymore.
  2. Hemp has always been problematic specifically because of low THC production. It’s never been particularly dangerous, but it was notably used by overzealous prohibition states as a cudgel in the early days of recreational legalization. I’m not suggesting it’s an excuse as much as a complication that factors in: if, for instance, a semi loaded with hemp is stopped in say Idaho on its way to California, it becomes infinitely more difficult to charge the driver with drug trafficking when the hemp can’t theoretically be used to produce a THC product at the industrial level. In reality, it may just be a matter of Newsome sweeping a complicated issue under the rug.
  3. Yeah, not sure what that is either. Might be an attempt to bolster the stronger legal product sales since those have continued to flag.
  4. This is the first time I realized she’s getting ménage a trois. One octopus beak is kinky, two is downright diabolical.
  5. Sounds like you need a little more porn in your life.
  6. If it was so successful, why are they launching more rockets into Lebanon?
  7. Sounds like quitter talk to me.
  8. You've got to be analytical about this. No one is suggesting that Trump winning won't be the apocalyptic nightmare he himself has presaged with his comments, so it seems counterproductive to make unreasonable assertions about what will happen when he loses. More importantly, we can't ignore who the victims are in this case - there are several racial and socioeconomic identities that stand to lose if we approach a violent backlash in the wrong way. It would be easier if every racist and bigot decided to go for broke, take up arms against his fellow countrymen and the righteous majority rose up to crush them once and for all. That's not reality. If you want to really know what was "learned" by conservatives after January 6th, look at the courts and the state legislatures. The people who the rioters expected to learn from the uprising did in fact learn, and Roe v Wade was overturned and dismantled at the state level because of them. When Harris wins, the violence outbursts aren't going to happen because there is no need for them. It will, instead, be a call to shore up the political turf conservatives clawed back in the wake of the SCOTUS's deplorable decision.
  9. Not all cops are Trump supporters, and certainly not the rank and file cops in major metro areas. I'm not suggesting violence won't happen, just that the ramifications will be spectacularly different.
  10. It's not remotely as funny as it sounds. His daughter's boyfriend sitting out in the car and flashing his headlights to scare off intruders sounds almost apocalyptic, and all because her classmate got pissed off and decided it would be a good idea to dox the coach. It's the trifecta of awful - school bullying, toxic fan base, and misogyny. Edit: Link for everyone else.
  11. I think I finally figured out why @Dusty Shackleford hates Lions fans so much. That some fucked up shit going on over there.
  12. January 6th was certainly a prelude to something, but not to what you might expect. Since it's given that Biden is most certainly going to clamp down on any gatherings before the certification, it's also presumed that similar violence would happen elsewhere, localized in places where people of similar sentiment have influence in the manner of how Nazi Stormtroopers were able to perpetrate Kristallnacht nearly 86 years ago. Post WWII, the rise of Nazism has been the basic template for any populist uprising, however 2024 America offers an important wrinkle in this - the underserved people that typically number the virulently racist populist movements are, in fact, the targets of Trumpian populism. January 6 happened where it did specifically because Washington DC and the Capitol are neutral spaces; you're not likely to see the same kind of torch-bearing march in New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, or even Dallas. If such violence were to occur, it would be if smaller, far-flung communities in the Deep South, where the political infrastructure is more willing to tolerate such ugliness and where there is far less social upheaval to inflict. Ultimately, this ends up harking back to my comments to MD about Civil Wars and, ultimately, why such unrest will ultimately damage conservatism more than it will harm the minorities it targets.
  13. He sounds very much like a man angling to be a martyr. I don’t believe he’s expects to lose, but at least a part of him recognizes that he needs to give up on creating coalition to stabilize his support. He’s leaning into the unpalatable beliefs of his die hard supporters with the tacit understanding that he’s making himself a bigger target for his many many enemies.
  14. I'm glad your friend is ok.
  15. Happy Birthday you all!
  16. Conferences haven’t made sense since the crowning of a consensus national champion.
  17. I’m intentionally being reductive. They aren’t Libertarian, but they share a penchant for disestablishment.
  18. You want him take pity on you and pretend the troll works?
  19. The Green Party is essentially Libertarian with a leftist bent.
  20. You probably are going to need to find a friend with a mac to see if your drive works on their computer. On a lark, i decided to google to see if there were any other options, and I came up with this. The key takeaways from that article is that you're going to need to find a way to make your Surface Pro able to read the Mac drive's HFS+ file system. The article mentions the free software and all the issues that come with it, so it might be worth forking over $20 for something that is more stable and doesn't require installing a vulnerability into your PC.
  21. As long as it's still readable by your computer with extensions off, it should be readable by any Mac. A couple of things, makes sure it's not one of the bottom two: Mac can't always see those two without an extension or without an emulator.
  22. Well, I guess the first thing is to see if the drive shows up in Disk Utility in Recovery mode. If that's the case, you might be able to wipe the computer (after disconnecting the drive) and reinstall the OS. It just matters if the drive still has the sparse bundle file from Time Machine and that it can be read.
  23. Snow Leopard? That is really old bad. There are a whole host of issues that come with running unsupported software like that. Do you backup your computer regularly?
  24. Apples are hell of a lot more complicated than they were in the days of Classic Mac OS when it comes to extension issues. What OS are you running? Depending on that, the SOP is to start your Mac in Safe Mode.
