  1. I think it has to be an alternate world. I think a LOT would have to have happened for it become like this. Including a technology regression. Because even where Grisha came from is not on our level. We'll have to see though. I am beginning to believe the spoiler I thought I read when I skimmed a synopsis for this show before season 1 aired on Toonami was either total bullshit, or I somehow read a synopsis for something completely different, but I have no idea what that could be. Probably highly unlikely to be a spoiler at this point, but marking just in case -
  2. I can't think of many anime that actually references and criticizes Japan's own role and atrocities during the war, though, except maybe The Wind Rises. Code Geass even actually tries to act like Japan is a victim of imperialism.
  3. I wish you hadn't pointed that out lol. But it would probably be pretty obvious to hear it anyway. I thought the voice for the sister was cute.
  4. Not just deleted, that account was TERMINATED! Indead it will lmao.
  5. Someone in program edit department cut this?! Some heads better roll! And does he really think posting it to Facebook is good enough?! A lot of people that just watch the block will be lost! There's no indication anything is even cut just from watching the broadcast! They should've used my idea! You should've done better than this, Demarco! And look at that, I'm not nearly the only person who thinks this. And he said they won't get fired! They had ONE JOB, though!
  6. I just watched it! They are horrible and even nonsensical at times! What the heck?! Was this translated by a English second or third language person, or a robot?! If you got to see the other clip before it got taken down, what did you think of those? They seemed to make enough sense and agree with the dub for the most part, from what I could tell.
  7. A breakdown of the characters' ages throughout the series... https://totallyspies.fandom.com/wiki/Beverly_Hills_High 14 - 15: 9th Grade, Freshman: Season 1 15 - 16: 10th Grade, Sophomore: Season 2 16 - 17: 11th Grade, Junior: Season 3 17 - 18: 12th Grade, Senior: Season 4 https://totallyspies.fandom.com/wiki/Malibu_University 18 - 19: Freshman: Season 5 19 - 20: Sophomore: Season 6 20 - 21: Junior: 21 - 22: Senior:
  8. I was going to say that the original creator dying mid-production would be another reason not to watch it, until I read this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Oum "The company stated that Oum had shared much of his vision for the future of the story with the rest of the production staff and that these ideas would remain the basis for future work on the show." https://archive.is/20150310152542/http://roosterteeth.com/news/entry.php?id=5678655
  9. The art and animation looks off. And cel-shaded stuff is real hit or miss. If you can't pull it off well, it just looks bad. And the stunt casting could imply a lack of confidence in the material.
  10. I highly doubt Japan treats it like real anime. I'd be surprised if they even gave a shit about it. Regardless, and this isn't a statement on quality at all, if a show wasn't made in Japan, it's not anime, period. Edit - Okay so it was dubbed into Japanese and put on Japanese TV. I wasn't able to find ratings for it, but the Blu-Ray sales were not amazing or anything. https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/5gxzot/so_how_popular_is_rwby_in_japan_now/ "They're definitely not absolutely fantastic. Something that's absolutely fantastic is like K-On!- (first TV anime to sell 500k BDs), Monogatari- (highest single volume sales at 80k), or Love Live-levels (the movie sold 194k BDs in its first week). And the second Evangelion Rebuild sold 319k discs (BD+DVD) on its first day. RWBY's JP sales are a solid good, and great for a non-Japanese property that isn't a feature film. Still not fantastic, though."
  11. The characters, art, animation, all look very awkward and wonky in the pictures and clips I have seen of RWBY. Definitely some unnatural body and facial movements. This Gen:Lock has that too, but not as bad. Still looks off to me, though.
  12. That's a silly rule to have, but I wouldn't blame you for skipping this show anyway. Besides, Clone Wars! That was a direct successor to Genndy's Clone Wars micro-series. But, it wasn't a Toonami premiere, just "new to Toonami."
  13. Why did they cast these people and how did they even afford them? To me it just comes off like the stunt casting that's done in animated movies these days to draw in audiences instead of having the movies stand on their own merits. Voice acting is different from regular acting, I don't like that voice actors are getting screwed out of these prominent roles, and sometimes a big name celebrity can just make it distracting and ruin immersion and suspension of disbelief. I will say that it seemed to work out for Shrek though. What the fuck?
  14. I really don't know if it's a good idea to put Lupin second and Food Wars third. Lupin is likely to turn off casuals with it's retro look and they will head for the hills when Food Wars ecchi nonsense comes on. Not that I care about ratings that much, but the ratings need to stay good enough at least for Toonami to stay on air. Weird we still don't know what's replacing SAO. It ends tomorrow. They better come up with something. I didn't know about the odd runtimes. I think it has to be last then otherwise I don't know what they're going to do to get it to work. A lot of viewers don't like irregular runtimes and that could also maybe mess with DVRs, I'm not sure. Maybe that's it, but Toonami doesn't really do these "power hours" as much as you think they do or want them to. I think Attack on Titan and The Promised Neverland was very much intentional, though.
  15. I read this as "I cannot stand either Vic-voiced character" and was going to say "VIC IS IN BOTH SHOWS?!" Thank god that's not the case. I never did see RWBY because I didn't know what it was for the longest time, and the fan base seemed kind of cringey. I looked it up and saw it was just some amateur anime wannabe thing that did look cringey so I was like meh and didn't bother with it. But given it has Vic in a prominent role it would be difficult if not impossible to go back and watch it now. Also Vic's character in that show looks like a creeper.
  16. Yeah it's the last episode until October. I don't know they don't just call the next parts of these split seasons another season instead of part 2? With this and Attack on Titan. 403 forbidden on the first pic. The second pic didn't load until I opened in a separate tab. Nothing would make the first pic load. Maybe danbooru doesn't like embeds. Though maybe it would help to embed the full picture instead of the sample. Full picture might be huge though, so dunno if that's a good idea. Edit - I just now got it to work. For some reason copying and pasting into another tab worked this time. You posted gender-flipped GGO Kirito?! NOOOOOOOOOO!
  17. https://comicbook.com/anime/2018/10/18/naruto-anime-cooking-ramen-inspiration Unless you are a next-level ramen lover, ninjas are what come to mind when Naruto gets mentioned. The beloved series has become one of anime’s top title to date, but Masashi Kishimoto didn’t always have a thing for ninjas. In fact, as it turns out, the creator had plans for Naruto to bypass action entirely and take a more delicious route. In the past, Kishimoto let fans know his original plans for Naruto were far from expected. The artist sat down for an interview with Naruto Meigen Shubefore, and he told the magazine Naruto began as a cooking manga. “Naruto wasn't supposed to be about ninjas,” the artist confessed. “It was supposed to be about a teenager named Naruto cooking ramen. But my editor of that time told me ‘It will never gonna work.’ I had to find something else and this became a story about ninjas.” Continuing, Kishimoto said he kept the name Naruto because he loves ramen, and he even put his favorite ramen stall from college into the manga. “Back then I loved ramen. In front of my college, there was this place called 'Ichiraku' where I used to eat ramen.” Kishimoto might not have made Naruto all about cooking, but the artist was able to lean into his original story at times. After all, it is no secret that Naruto Uzumaki is a ramen fiend, and he will eat as many bowls of it as possible. The decision to put an Ichiraku in the Leaf Village also gave Kishimoto the chance to draw up some tasty dishes, and audiences all over were introduced to ramen through his work as such. Also, if anyone first learned about ramen from Naruto then they have truly been living in a bubble, and had a deprived life!
  18. Yeah, it's hard to argue against what people have been saying about SAO progressively getting better as it goes along. Well, if we block Fairy Dance from our memory (heh) like we do with Bleach's Bount Arc! Also I noticed the show almost never refers to anything from that arc aside from them being in ALO sometimes. Sugo and his company has not been brought up once since then! I don't think that's a coincidence lmao.
  19. Finally! Since I won, I will continue sprucing up the OP. Why do you even go for SAO anyway? It's not like it's one of your favorite shows or anything, is it? Anyway, there won't be anymore SAO threads for a while, unless they get Gun Gale Online Alternative to fill the gap til Alicization Part 2 gets here.
  20. Black Clover Page 78 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, Noelle and Yuno teamed up with a weird old tired guy that used mushroom magic. Yuno managed to one-shot a member of his own squad who didn't like how Captain Vangeance had taken a liking to Yuno and taken him under his wing. Noelle confronted her scumbag brother Solid once and for all and destroyed him with her Sea Dragon's Roar spell! Where will the Royal Knight selection go from here? Find out tonight, on Black Clover, on Toonami! \
  21. EPISODE 24 DISCUSSION Last time on Sword Art Online: Alicization, Kirito, Eugeo, Alice, and Cardinal, all stood up to Administrator and her sword golem. Unfortunately, it went against Cardinal's programming to attack that abomination because it was made of human souls and memories, combined with divine object weapons. She attempted to make a deal with Administrator to give her life to let the other three go. The others decided not to leave anyway because it wouldn't help things at all, and Eugeo had Cardinal TURN HIM INTO A SWORD AND HE FLEW AROUND THE ROOM AND KILLED THE GOLEM. But when Eugeo faced off against Administrator, while he chopped one of her arms off, he was broken in half in sword from, and when he returned to human form he was cut in half, but with ice freezing between the two halves. Eugeo is seemingly on death's door. This time Kirito froze up in battle, and Alice had to come to his assistance. Kirito blocked Administrator's strike in time to save Alice from sacrificing herself for him, but then Alice passed out anyway. Now Kirito faces off against Administrator alone. Find out how this battle turns out tonight on the mid-season finale of Sword Art Online: Alicization, on Toonami!
  22. Posted way too early LOL
  23. Premature recollection release!
  24. The people in this show are either really pretty or really ugly!
  25. But do this show and Lupin fall victim to "too old" syndrome? Demarco always used to say they wouldn't get shows that were too old because they got bad ratings. I guess because some people just won't watch something if it looks too old? Like some people won't watch black and white movies just because they're in black and white, which is stupid. Both shows have modern (and good) production values, to be sure, but still look retro. I wonder if this show will suffer in viewership for it. Though the time slot isn't exactly a good measurement for that anyway. I did hear that Lupin did not do well though. Don't really care about ratings that much, but it's just always something that bugged me is people not giving older or retro-styled stuff a chance.
