  1. Oh I wouldn't doubt Reki is pandering to yaoi shippers. He's pandered to just about everything else. I didn't know about the voice actors doing that though. I mean I guess there is no harm in it? Plus they would look really bad if they shat on the pairing. I highly doubt any gay relationship between the two would actually happen anyway. Because even if Eugeo is bi, which I'm not sure of, I'm almost certain Kirito isn't, and both already have Alice, and Asuna, respectively. I think this arc would also have been written before he got criticism on various things that he then said he would try to do better on. So if something got handled poorly in that area it's already set in stone and would be before any backlash. Maybe there was backlash in Japan or the U.S. from light novel readers and I just don't know about it. But I don't know any spoilers and don't want to know any. From what I hear about the new arc Reki is writing, it definitely sounds like he listened to the other known criticism, though.
  2. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=7109 It's Karen Strassman. She played Soifon, and the other bitchy character was Kallen from Code Geass. I didn't remember that she also played Momo in Bleach! And she's also playing Casval in Origin! So she has range outside of the bitchy voice lmao.
  3. My first Blu-Ray was Wreck-it Ralph (which I came out in 2012?!), which I wasn't able to watch til I got a PS3 way far into its lifespan. I sure as hell wasn't going to get the 600 dollar one. I got a 360 instead... many of which years I played on a CRT, which I only got rid after it fell face first on the floor right after we moved one time, because it was sitting on a flimsy-ass table. The screen didn't shatter but the picture was reduced to a skinny horizontal line going across the screen. I had to get an HDTV then because they didn't make those old TVs anymore. Way back when I was basically made to get a cellphone. I was like "we have free long distance why do I need a cellphone LOLOLOLO." Of course it was a flip phone at first, but later I had a Blackberry. To replace that, I didn't want to use a touch screen so I had to get a phone that had a slide out keyboard (but I think it had a touch screen too.) Later on I basically had to get a full touch screen phone because that's all there was and went with Samsung Galaxy S5... which I'm still using. I really do need and WANT to upgrade this phone though. I was recording stuff on VHS well into the 2000s, Toonami, AS, various other stuff. I stopped doing it because I didn't want to watch, much less record SD stuff on my HDTV, so I finally got a DVR. But I haven't come anywhere close to replacing my VHS movie and TV show collection on DVD, much less gotten Blu-Rays of all the DVDs. And now with everything streamable it's not as big of a deal. I would definitely prefer to own a lot of my favorites on Blu-Ray or something of course but it's also a matter of cost. I'm also worried about some movies and TV shows being lost to history because they didn't get put on DVD or Blu-Ray. If videogames go fully digital that will be terrible for gaming for a whole host of reasons. But yeah as tech savvy as I am, I am also set in my ways and routines and don't like to change my stuff, but part of it is also affordability! And don't get me started on 4K! Human eyes can't even see it without a ridiculously huge TV!
  4. So are DVDs cheaper to make than Blu-Rays or something? I've been getting the Star Wars movies by pre-ordering through Disney's website where you get the Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital combo pack, and a set of lithographs. But they stopped including the DVDs. The Last Jedi and Solon don't have them. MY COLLECTION IS NOW INCONSISTENT AND INCOMPLETE! I think you have to get some other retailer exclusive to get the DVD now. Not sure if you can even buy it on it's own. If Disney is stopping the DVDs in their combo packs then you know the format is really being phased out. That makes it come off like it's not worth it to make DVDs anymore!
  5. I agree with you that it's ugly. Also if all mechas in anime are gonna be CG now I'd rather they just not bother. It takes you out of it because a lot of times it doesn't even blend in with the rest of the art and animation. And the mechas themselves often just don't look as good in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of Gundam and not even particularly a fan of the mecha designs themselves for that franchise, but I was still disappointed to see the CG for the mechas in Origin. But, this whole show is ugly cel-shaded CG.
  6. Oh ok. Ehh, maybe give ThunderCats a shot. I like it a lot and I'm not the only one. They got fucked out of a season 2 though, so there's that. I had no interest in Gotham. I have seen a few episodes since my friend was watching it. I don't see the point of watching a Batman show without Batman. It's like Agents of SHIELD that I dropped after the pilot. Just a Marvel-flavored cop show. No superheroes. Beware the Batman was pretty bad. Batman, Batman Returns, The Animated Series, and the Nolan trilogy are all sitting there waiting. I'm surprised you didn't get into Batman as a kid.
  7. And like I said earlier it's the exact same as the Scrooge McDuck voice for some unknown reason, which is going to be extremely distracting.
  8. She looks like a Ghibli character lol. So does the cat.
  9. Guess not lmao. They both wear their hair up. Both blondes. Their faces aren't drawn that differently either. I was going to say at least Crowley has green eyes instead of blue, but they're blue in the pictures you posted, so not sure how I saw that wrong. They look even more alike than I thought, then! It's one thing for anime characters to alike, but it's usually not 2 in the same series, much less appearing at the same time together in an arc!
  10. Oh I see. I seem to remember SAO2 getting here faster though but I could be wrong. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
  11. HBO is part of Warner? We never had the actual HBO channel. Too expensive, and those premium channels were usually much better during the free previews than when you actually get the channel. Then they started doing those original series, but I can't say they ever interested me much. Game of Thrones itself is basically like the Borgias and Medici that happens to take place in a fantasy setting. A political drama. No thanks. I don't know how a streaming/on-demand Toonami would work or even what would be the point. Demarco seems to think traditional cable is still going to last a while. I can't link you to the Ask.fm post now because their mobile page is still loading malware garbage, and I'm not going to the computer right now, but the post should still be fairly recent. Demarco says it's a slow bleed, and you'd be paying as much as a full cable bill to get all the streaming services now that everyone thinks they need to have their own. He's not wrong about the last part at least. It defeats the purpose of having those streaming services if everyone has one and all the content is separated instead of being in one place like on Hulu and Netflix, and not saving you any money. Ok now that's just crackpot nonsense.
  12. Why are you singling out February? It shouldn't take that long. I was hoping they'd get GGO Alternative to tide us over til then, but I don't know if they're willing or able to get it, though.
  13. I'm sure it's possible for him to have had it before and just never used it, or learn new powers or ways to use ones he already has. But Super seems to act like the barrier ability (the one he used in DBZ once to protect himself that he keeps spamming in Super) is unique to 17, which I doubt is the case since 18 is his twin.
  14. It's technically the end of the first half of season 3, and part 2 is coming to Japan in October. We might not have to wait til next year given how fast SAO usually gets dubbed and on the block.
  15. Why was he ranking first? The cool factor I can see, but he's an asshole. Sasuke's "friendship" with Naruto consists of them being little shits to each other and Kishimoto constantly going back to a whole THREE friendship moments that had and the characters saying that their best friends. So because of that shitty build up and Sasuke being a bit of a bastard from the start, it's kind of hard to buy in to the whole destroyed friendship thing and wanting Sasuke to redeem himself. Besides, Kakashi is way "cooler" than Sasuke, anyway, if cool factor is the main concern.
  16. That's definitely true. They ignored the Fairy Tail requests (and for a long time Demarco had never even seen it -_-) and went to great lengths to get Gundam back, going as far to travel to Japan with Gill multiple times to negotiate with Sunrise directly. He likes Lupin too. I didn't think Lupin ever had a huge fan base.
  17. Hey I might need to watch the movie for that girl! ALL MIGHT HAS EYES AND LOOKS NORMAL!
  18. Didn't know they were making a movie of this. That was the theory for Death Note and Ghost in the Shell too. And plenty of other series that aren't so tied to Japanese culture and would be easy to do in live action (though you can do almost anything with good effects now.) Same should theoretically be true for Bebop. We'll see how that goes. On top of the other two factors, the success of superhero movies should make this one work easily too.
  19. Why would Crunchyroll and AS shows be on HBO?
  20. Demarco, Gill, and the others hold a lot of influence and are heavily involved in the block, otherwise there would have been no difference between Toonami and the old ASA. They've also been personally involved in acquisitions as they made multiple trips to Japan to negotiate directly with Sunrise to bring Gundam back (totally worth it /s.) And the way Demarco reacted to the backlash to the MHA move is telling he is not innocent in all this.
