You never know, it could be good! And with all the timeskips in the Aincrad Arc and things that weren't shown, they could mine that arc for quite a while! Besides, with a show, they probably have to put more effort in than a movie, right? Show needs to stay good to stay successful. With a movie it's one and done. If it word of mouth spreads that it's bad hey at least they made some money off opening weekend off the name value. They're going to be out a lot of time, money, and effort if a show isn't received well.

Yuki Kajiura is awesome and what she does and in anything she's included in. So yeah it's a similarity but not something I'd complain about. Music fits both shows and I love both OSTs!

Yeah but everyone was in a coma and not just one character, and no one had amnesia. SAO also killed people. Don't remember anyone dying in .hack. The story there was a death game and how to survive it and how to get out of it, why it was made. .hack was more what's this Tsukasa kid's deal and hmm something isn't quite right about this world. The little girl in .hack was more a of a plot point or MacGuffin than actual character, unlike the girl in SAO, who wasn't nearly as integral to the game's infrastructure, either. Either way, with both series being conceived of at the same time, there's no way to know if one bit off the other. People often come up with similar ideas independently. And I mean, MMORPGs were a big thing at the time. Reki has cited his inspiration as being the old school MMOs he played around that time and beforehand (as opposed to the later ones people complained SAO wasn't like). Many of the games he played were Western and he didn't speak English, so he had trouble coordinating with other players. He wasn't that good at these games. He was impressed with the people who were really good (maybe even idolized? ) and this would've been why he created elite players like Kirito and Asuna as the main characters.

Well people that sexually harass others often think they aren't doing anything wrong and are just "being complimentary" or "joking", etc. I dunno have you seen all the porn and our celebrities and entertainment? Or just the way some people are? You should see some people's social media. I think our society is more open and okay with it than it's ever been. Still, that doesn't mean everyone has the same standards about it in general, including other people "flirting" or whatever you would call it. And if it's done a lot it can be quite annoying, at best. Comments like "if you were a girl I'd like to be with you/have sex with you," commenting about your feet, asking if you're nude underneath covers (had a cover on while I was playing videogames), etc seems pretty inappropriate to me. I had some guy do this I was friends with in junior high/high school. Eventually stopped being friends with him because of those and other issues. I suppose if it was someone I knew, who wasn't being creepy and/or annoying, it would be one thing. I dunno. Might still get on my nerves.

I dunno he was constantly all over him and making passes at him, saying sexual stuff, etc. Seemed inappropriate and invasion of personal space at least, to me. Well, that is true. He could've been a lot worse, like you said.

I dunno, seems forced, manufactured, and tone deaf, to me. Like, this is what Oda thinks gay people are like and throws it in your face, probably thinks he is being inclusive and progressive with it. Maybe even well-intended. So were lots of other offensive portrayals over the history of entertainment. And have you seen what they look like? Freakish and inhuman, to say the least. As I said, they look out of place even in One Piece.

Fairy Tail is very popular here though too. You can see it in the demand for the show to air on Toonami, the amount of discussion it gets around the internet, prevalence on streaming services, etc. Funimation wouldn't have kept dubbing if it wasn't profitable. Just never got an American TV airing, unfortunately. Thanks a lot Demarco!

Thanks for the heads up and info. Looks like I won't have time to catch up, though I did watch these episodes a few months ago. Just wanted to be in the same place in my mind, but no big deal.
