  1. They could have used this to skip Clover for a week and extend JoJo but if they run the whole lineup after the concert then that doesn’t stall anything.
  2. This will be a one night thing. No reason to assume Toonami is giving up midnight for a while.
  3. I think even Jason see’s that as a bad idea. IMO they should be airing this at 11pm after a 10pm hour of Family Guy.
  4. On the contrary. I suspect DeMarco wanted to do this and his bosses said he could only do it on Saturday during Toonami time.
  5. They seem to be increasing their output lately. Hopefully that means they're in good shape and will be able to dub 3-4 episodes of Black Clover and Fire Force per month.
  6. Toonami continues it's trend of getting involved in anime adaptation of things that are old and varying degrees of obscure. I guess that's a fine niche.
  7. It's a mystery. Maybe there are some detectives who can crack the case? Maybe they live in New Jersey? Maybe they are sentient assorted food products? Maybe ...
  8. This could (and probably should) be an update regarding one or more of their currently known co-productions. So I'm not expecting much at this point.
  9. They would do that. Though I gotta say, Carey Means got a BAD deal. No royalties despite how often ATHF plays and how it airs in multiple countries. It seems like he's black listed or something because he rarely gets work now. I don't know what might have happened between him and the network and if he even tries to get more acting gigs but between that and how some part of Turner never paid C. Martin Croker for his work on various shows... I just don't know about the corporate culture within Turner.
  10. Naming organizations to contact would probably be considered a bridge too far. Endorsing particular ones and not others would be a bad look and everyone has a different opinion on which organizations should be supported right? Like there's lots of people who say the organization named Black Lives Matter isn't trustworthy. I believe the key phrase in that whole thing is "have an honest conversation about racism" and I think that's a very good thing to present to their audience. "I don't see color" and "maybe racism exists but I don't base how I treat people on their race" are things we hear all the time but prejudice based on difference seems built into the human mind and its very easy to be influenced by what other people say about minorities. So it's good to combat that with honest self-examination. They're also saying bluntly stating that the shows we see on Toonami constantly discuss prejudice, classism and racism so TOM saying "black lives matter" shouldn't be offensive if you think the messages in those shows aren't offensive.
  11. Totally random to have an action movie on a Friday but they could probably do that. Using the RC DC Specials to promote DC Fandome is a good use of existing resources.
  12. It would make more sense to do that on September 5th than the same day as the 2nd event and the 5th is Labor Day Weekend as well. But I won’t rule out the possibility that they will have Toonami promote the second day on the second day.
  13. Fucking Clowns. They love to rage.
  14. Looks like Zap2it and probably other sites are now listing the regular line-up on September 5th with new JoJo, Ass Class ep 2, new Black Clover and new Shippuden (also DBS and Fire Force reruns). Given that, they might manage to keep the October 24th premiere for Fire Force season 2. They'll have to double it up one week to pull that off but it would be a fine stall tactic for Black Clover. They could still delay new Fire Force till November if they take off Halloween night.
  15. Thanks for the update.
  16. I'm sure Toonami appreciates that WarnerMedia has given them a good way to avoid airing Black Clover for several weeks. I wont rule out the possibility that Toonami asked papa WarnerMedia to throw them a bone and suggested they could air movies to promote DC Fandome but given DeMarco's track record it seems waaaaaay more likely that WarnerMedia just thought using Toonami to promote DC Fandome was a decent idea and Toonami was more than happy to roll with it. It's especially absurd to suggest DC Fandome was extended to two days on separate weekends to throw Toonami another bone. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have started up JoJo back up much less started Assassination Classroom (for just one episode) if they were begging papa Warner to give them a way to stall for a show they usually air at 1:30am and barely promote. Harsh as it might sound, I don't think they're that worried about keeping Black Clover on without any hiccups. I'm sure they understand that they will not be able to stave off a hiatus forever.
  17. Aniplex has been a part of Sony Music Entertainment since... inception I think? Several other music companies distribute anime in Japan I believe. I makes some sense, anime does sell music, especially OPs and EDs. In the US companies like Rhino which started as music distributors also distributed tv series and films. Sony Pictures and Sony Television aren't nearly as prevalent in Japan as Sony Music and electronics and games divisions and that might be why Aniplex is attached to Sony Music instead of Sony Television or Sony Pictures. But at the end of the day it's all Sony. Now Sony owns FUNimation as well as Aniplex but so far they are being allowed to operate mostly autonomously. Aniplex series are still on multiple services aside from FUNimation's platform including HBO Max.
  18. That's honestly a laughable theory. Nothing about DC Fandome is being done to buy time for FUNimation to dub Black Clover, especially not the decision to split it into two events. I'll tell you exactly what would have happened if they ran out of Clover episodes, they would have aired reruns of something in its place for a while. FUNimation's recording crunch if definitely benefiting from Toonami taking two (or more) weeks off to promote a DC event but that's just a bonus.
  19. They should have just let Ballmasterz finish and wait to start Ass Class if they are really doing two more weeks of DC movies (not necessarily just Batman).
  20. What are the odds of both Syon and Chugg popping up at the same time?
  21. Ah yes, Bitch sensei.
  22. This will be lots of fun to watch on Toonami. It is a total of 47 episodes and thankfully adapts the manga all the way to the ending. It's another JUMP shounen but thankfully it is not another Naruto clone like MHA and Black Clover. Also good news, JoJo didn't get booted to the back, Fire Force reruns moved after Black Clover and for those who wanted it gone Ballmastrz didn't finish it's run on Toonami (personally I'm a little disappointed it didn't since there was only two 11 minute episodes left). I definitely wish they could have brought this in a month or two ago but it's a welcome addition regardless.
  23. Those Rick & Morty shorts held Batman very well and then Macchu Picchu dropped hard with the 18-49s. Not surprised. It's possible that the first half hour or two of Year One did out draw Family Guy but the average of the 90 mins didn't. Even so, that's excellent retention all the way to 3:30am. I wonder how the JoJo, Clover and Shippuden might have done airing after Batman: Year One. They'd probably lose a fair amount of viewers but I'd like to know just how many would stick around for anime after a Batman movie.
  24. Man if they had done this even a year ago they probably could have broke 800,000 for both Batman films but having both in the top 5 says enough. I wonder if Year One out rated Family Guy.
  25. You might find that if you talk to DeMarco and don’t come at him like you believe he’s an idiot and don’t accuse him of screwing up, he’ll potentially listen to your feedback and sometimes (very rarely) make changes to Toonami if it’s not a tall order. But I also have had decent rapport with him since like 2006 or so.
