  1. Well they get to air Primal, which is pretty cool IMO. But aside from that they are playing ball when asked by their corporate overlords and there may be benefits to that cooperation at some point.
  2. Makasu: "Civil War replicas are for racist nerds!" Makasu: "You're momma's so fat..." Josie: "My mother is a diabetic!" Makasu: "You're momma's so diabetic... She's the sweetest thing I've ever seen" Josie: "We are BEST friends" I got plenty of laughs from these episodes. I wasn't expecting Josie to join the journey but he's a good addition to the crew.
  3. Well that DID just happen and if they cancel it now then so be it. It had a good run.
  4. It wouldn't be buying time for something currently airing but it could buy time for something that will replace SAO in February. For that matter we have no idea what their budget is gonna look like in 2021 so stretching all their current shows one more week isn't a terrible idea, not that they even need a reason to do it other than "it's close to Christmas". It wouldn't be the first time they had a marathon in October and the last week of November and then two in December. But I would also prefer for them to run the regular line-up on December 19th this year because frankly that's almost a week before Christmas. I just wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they took it off as well.
  5. I mean despite their moments of levity... Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Casshern Sins, Paranoia Agent, The Promised Neverland and Parasyte are like an endless stream of horrible things happening to their protagonists and side characters. I don't see Primal as any more intense or depressing as those shows could be. And people want to see ReZero on Toonami when that's trauma after trauma. The only thing that makes Primal seem ever so slightly odd for Toonami is it's lack of much dialogue but there were episodes of Samurai Jack which next to no dialogue as well. Ultimately, it's action animation. That was at one point the only criteria for a show to be on Toonami.
  6. Oh hi, I like sentai and tokutatsu and the American basterdizations of them.
  7. Oh I meant Big Mouth the Netflix cartoon. I dunno, I think Aqua Teen could have kept going. It wasn't always in top form but it was usually entertaining. Squidbillies is still going (I don't hate that show for the record but it's no Aqua Teen) so why couldn't ATHF? Family Guy much like The Simpsons has settled into a groove of mediocrity, only with much more politics. American Dad is still very funny and surprisingly not that political, Seth mainly voices on that and Family Guy now as opposed to writing them. I can't really think of an American Dad episode that I didn't find amusing.
  8. You're talking to a guy who busts out laughing at the ipecac scene in Family Guy and the time Master Shake couldn't stop vomiting after drinking something that was supposed to make Meatwad puke up Frylock's microchip. I greatly enjoy lowbrow body function humor. And with that said, I'm pretty sure I've never seen a show specifically use the urethra for a "stick something in something" gag. Not even in something like Big Head which is loaded with anatomy jokes. I also like some dry British comedies, sketch comedy like Monty Python and The Whitest Kids You Know, movies like Anchorman or Billy Madison and spoofs like Space Balls and Kung-Pow Enter the Fist. Generally I have a greater appreciation for witty jokes than crass ones but like I said, some anatomy jokes and particularly puke scenes tend to crack me up. I just remembered that pie eating contest bit from Stand by Me. That was a riot.
  9. I wouldn't be. They had a marathon on December 19th in 2015 and they have ended the year with two marathon weekends ever since. Even with the current circumstances, I would be surprised if they ran the regular lineup on December 19th. Right now I give it about a 30% chance they will air the regular lineup on December 19th.
  10. I'd love to see WarnerMedia put more DC content on Toonami. But I'm not expecting them to do it very often.
  11. TOM and Sara tend to just make banter. I would imagine they'll say something about how neat it would be to live with a dinosaur. Primal has plenty of stuff for them to comment on.
  12. How about buying time for whatever will replace SAO in February? If that particular show is Attack on Titan, the extra week would probably be helpful though maybe not necessary since starting it in February gives them a good buffer to begin with. I do rather hope they don't run a marathon on December 19th. I can agree with doing one on the 26th but the 19th is many days away from Christmas and there's less reason than ever to be concerned with people traveling several days around Christmas.
  13. Now that it looks like Adult Swim is having several marathons specifically to promote HBO Max as part of WarnerMedia's big Thanksgiving weekend push for HBO Max, I'd say my theory has a lot of merrit. Originally Primal was going to have a marathon that Sunday, just 5 episodes. Now it will have a marathon on Toonami for all 10 episodes. Sunday will now be an ATHF marathon. In order to include Toonami in this push they would have to use a show that's also on HBO Max, ergo Primal. Though they could have used Samurai Jack if Primal was an absolute no go for Toonami.
  14. Hopefully it's performance that weekend (which probably wont be that negatively affected by the holiday) compared to how it's done on Sunday lately will show Mr. Tartakovsky that Toonami isn't a bad place for his action dramas at all.
  15. Given this is being used to promote HBO Max, I wouldn't be surprised if business dad told Genndy that Primal will air on Toonami that night and there's nothing he can say to stop it. Fun fact: The first time Cartoon Network allowed Samurai Jack to air on Toonami was also as a marathon back on Saturday December 28th 2002. Jack didn't get to air on weekday Toonami until Fall of 2003.
  16. Clever word play and sight gags. The lime tangent. The unusual choice of having Keith plug up Makasu’s urethra. That’s oddly specific so it gets more of laugh from me than if he stuck his tongue up his nose or mouth or ass.
  17. There's a few handsome fellas in the cast (who are not teenagers).
  18. They played the melodrama about Josie very straight and while it's a fine lesson about empathy it mostly felt preachy. There were a handful of good gags and word play but I didn't like these two episodes as much as the first two.
  19. I have broad tastes Ben. I don't need drugs or alcohol to watch dry comedies. That said, I didn't like episodes 3 and 4 as much as the first two.
  20. Yeah, Pre-Flight is mainly a casualty of all the streaming shows getting canned. And man... I'm really feeling blue about the streaming crew getting shit canned. They even fired Matt Harigan. He's been with WS since Space Ghost.
  21. Better late than never. I'm looking forward to some giant robot action on Toonami in the new year! This is about as surprising as Ass Class. Nice to see a couple older but still newish series in the mix. That proves that Food Wars wasn't a fluke. Really feels like they're gonna need some extra space for all the sequel seasons they could get next year and it does make me a little worried they won't make the space. I'll have faith that they'll make it work at least for now.
  22. They have cute designs but they are teenagers and I am in my 30s, so these are not my waifus.
  23. About a 0.04 drop from Ass Class into Death Beats. Oooph. I wonder how it did on Sunday.
