You know what would have been nice for the government to do? To use the interest from SS, that they’re allowed to use for other things, and used it to create single payer healthcare or more realistically, a better senior healthcare plan than shitty Medicare

Congress didn’t borrow the money they used the interest on things like defense but even had they not done that SS was still paying out more than it was taking in. Raising the cap is one way to fix the problem. After $170k is earned in a year you don’t pay anymore in SS taxes
