I have no clue and without an explanation of what an open primary would look like I’m not voting yes on it. Why would I want republicans to get together and vote on the democratic candidate that THEY would prefer? Because republicans in nyc largely have to put up with democrats in high positions? Republicans definitely would cry foul if democrats did that. I’m assuming you can only vote in one primary. Why would anyone give up a chance to vote for their preferred party candidate? I know republicans would have loved to vote in this Dem mayoral primary and that would have sucked but still I would only be for it for independents. They too would get to participate which is the only plus from what I can tell

A few questions will be on the ballot in November one question deals with having open primaries and another question is about moving the mayoral election to when we have presidential elections I’m cool with moving the election to when we are already voting but idk about the open primaries. Why should republicans be allowed to vote in democratic primaries and vice versa? Seems like no one gets what they want that way. Imagine if republicans had been allowed to vote in this primary? Mamdani would have lost. The only plus is for independents. I actually wanted to change my part affiliation to none but decided against it because I wouldn’t be able to vote in a primary but that’s different than cross party voting
