That's sorta why I do it, I suppose, feel like I'm doing my part to promote a general vague awareness of current events. Suppose it gives me catharsis? Just sorta "shouting into the void" by posting my discontent with current events? I mean otherwise I don't really want anything out of anybody- heck I'm not even looking for a "good to know". I just sorta want to put the shit out there I guess.

rants Haters/Complainers: Legacy of Spleen

Had to come in super early this morning to check inventory since one of our vendors can't get their shit together and sent out the same auto-shipment 3 weeks in a row and fucked up everybody's on-hands. "Says we should have seven of these." "We had seven before they shipped us fifty more without telling anybody." -
Page broke? Sorry, I didn't mean to do that. But I'm of the opinion that it's important that the guy tasked with reviewing the security failures during the coup is saying that the call came from inside the house, as it were. I mean yeah, it's obvious Trump was behind the coup, but again, it's important to understand the gravity of that. I'm sorry this bothers you so much.

IKR? Crazy shit brah.

All right, shit. Let's do this then. ..... Aight I got it. I think it comes down to critical race theory. Aight so Wisconsin has never been great to black people. Y'ever hear of a "supper club"? It's a wisconsin invention to keep black people out of restaurants post integration. You see you had to let black people into restaurants, but you could restrict membership to a social club. That's just one example of course, but point is, black people have been held back incredibly in Wisconsin. As of 2020 we had the highest achievement gap in the nation. Now outside of a couple of counties in wisconsin, you literally never saw black people, due to social limitations on their mobility within the state. And of course as is the case in all states law enforcement routinely targets black individuals, and therefore our prisons and the prisons across the midwest are filled to the brim with african americans. And due to the prison-industrial complex being so incredibly lucrative these jails are filling up and overflowing into other counties. When they get let out on parole, they get let out there. And that's how most semi-rural wisconsinites encounter their first real-life black person. The rural ones just hear stories. Now onto the latinos, a population rural wisconsinites are extremely familiar with. There's 3 types of people on a potato farm- the bosses and their kids, the white folk who live in trailer houses, and the mexicans who all live in a trailer. Nobody hates and fears the latinos like the poor white folks. They're literally the "they took 'er jerbs!!!" people, and as I child I was among them until a few lucky breaks pushed us up into the factory labor class and my mom was able to join a union, leading to my relative privilege and the fact that I don't have Trump flags hanging from my truck. Then there's the whole religious aspect and appeal to tradition, but I gotta say 100% I feel like the defining tenet of midwestern conservatism is racism and 50 years of the southern strategy being pushed down their throats. All right that was fun I'mma grill some chicken now.

gotcha, sorry I misinterpreted you. We cool.

And that argument doesn't hold water when your complaints about democrats are they aren't liberal enough, and your complaints about the right are that they're so anti-liberal that they literally attempt a coup rather than have a conservative-leaning democrat as president. I 100% am down with criticizing democrats and won't defend Obama's mass deportations, expanded use of the drone program, and I'm sure several other things I can't think of right now because I'm in the middle of a panic attack (I'm not really having a panic attack, and it's sort of absurd to insinuate that I am). Same with Biden (who was picked for VP because he was more conservative than Obama), same with the Clintons, Jimmy Carter is cool... But yeah, when I point to the atrocities committed by one side of the political spectrum, and in reply you say "well what about these" when pointing at a point in the same spectrum but further from the edge of ideological fanaticism, that dog don't hunt.

Both-sidesism doesn't really work after one side tries to literally overthrow the government.

A self fulfilling prophecy? I'm trying to wrap my head around how that works... because I'm referencing the fact that pedophilia is demonstrably being committed by a republican elected official, who then implicated that a republican celebrity is also involved in it; and that I believe they will get away with it due to a history of deference paid to right-wing leaders which has allowed similar things to occur unchecked in the past, that this will come to fruition- purely by power of my will? Because that's what a self-fulfilling prophecy is. I'm not sure if you meant to use a different term, but I feel like you're giving me waaaaaaay too much credit here. I suppose though if I do have that power I should probably do more than comment on how shitty that whole thing is. Tell me, what should I do to fix this? Do you think ignoring it would help?

Y'ALL MOTHERFUCKERS WANNA SEE CRAZY!!!! /s 20190418_170118.mp4.95c9b6c59d4f4f021224631210835e60.mp4

... Should I be happy that a republican leader who was caught procuring fake IDs to illegally smuggle children out of the country to rape and is still a rising conservative star?
-
And then there's motherfuckers that assume this is my entire life. I post rants in rants because that's what rants is here for. I post my current brewing escapades in the food folder because that's what that's there for. I shitpost in dumpster fires... well you get the idea. Telling me to go outside, motherffucker that's pretty much where I am when I'm not here.

I do not have PTSD. I'm actually fairly insulated from the majority of the effects of the various horrible things that have happened and will happen due to the fact that I'm a fairly well-to-do white man. Answer these questions with factual statements- Was there an attempted coup on January 6th? Was that a bad thing? Are people in power currently downplaying and denying it? Are those people continuing to stoke the fires of sedition? Getting real goddamn tired of being told I'm mentally ill just because I'm ponting at things that are happening and saying "Hey look, this is happening." Know what the original title of 1984 was?

I would swallow my pride, I would choke on the rinds, but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside.

We're in an unhealthy place as a nation. Just over 200 days ago there was a literal coup attempt that came within feet of succeeding. And the people who aren't pretending it didn't happen are making jokes about it. The nation is being gaslit into the belief that it was no big deal, that it won't happen again, and even if it does happen it won't be serious and we won't see any actual consequences. Its all a big joke, its all funny. Just like when Trump was running for president- it was hilarious. And when he won- it was crazy but it's not like it meant anything. Nothing bad could ever happen here. We've got institutions in place, surely if something illegal or dangerous were to happen people would be held to account. Surely nothing could harm us. "As a nation of free men we will live forever" and thats the end of the quote and we have nothing to worry about.
-
So i should just ignore the creeping fascism? Because thats worked out so well throughout history. I don't "go looking" for anything. In the morning i sit on the toilet and read the news. Also thats what rants is here for.
-
They really do love Trump.
-
To double back on this- rightwing celebrity Tucker Carlson is implicated in this as well, and folks are claiming that the video of the man calling him a terrible human being was a CIA plot. Nobody is going to face reprocussions.
-
This is what the midwest looks like. This is on the way to my folk's place, and its illuminated at night. These people aren't moving on.
-
I really don't think Gaetz will face any reprocussions at all, and if any punishment is attempted i fully expect him to play the victim and push the story as deep state libs coming to take away everyones freedom. Again though i fully expect that before there is even a chance for him to be taken in we'll have another insurrection. They're getting real antsy as august approaches.
