  1. Fixed (we're experiencing a "Siberian Express")
  2. And failing...badly.
  3. More like the U.S. is totally vulnerable unto itself.
  4. Well, it's not "What the Weather" app.
  5. I was referring to listening to a person saying - "I don't want to be a burden" and putting the final decision in the hands of a loved one. It's easy for that person to say, and at the time, for the person who will have to make that decision to agree to. But when it does come time, it sucks.
  6. Oh, did I forget to put /s? I guess I did.
  7. It sounds easy, but making that decision (when to end assistance to a dying family member) is one of the hardest things a person will ever do, no matter what the dying person's wishes were. You'll wonder if you're waiting long enough, or waiting too long and a host of other thoughts. That's when you get your Masters in Adulting.
  8. Piracy went out with the original Napster, and torrents means tying up a computer for this stuff.
  9. I think you need to toggle back to her picture.
  10. Just a warning - when I applied for pre-approval, I wasn't expecting more than $250K. When they did process the pre-approval, I asked how much (thinking they'd lowball me) I could get - I nearly choked when he said, "You're pre-approved for up to $475K". I told the guy there was no way I could afford to pay that back in one lifetime, he laughed and said that not many realize that & get themselves buried in debt. Also, if you've never gone through a closing, be prepared to sign your name so many times that eventually it will just be a couple straight lines.
  11. As long as there isn't a "John L. Lewis" thing going on - they're fine.
  12. If you get caught, it could be considered "elder abuse", even if she agrees to it. There are alternatives to nursing homes. Some "retirement villages" advertised that you get your own townhouse with progressive assistance as you need it. Not sure on the costs though.
  13. If you have a cheaper way to get what I want, that's what I've been asking for, spill it. But if it means I have to pay ~$80/mo for a bunch of channels I won't watch, just to gain access to services that will charge another ~$6/mo each - forget it. FYI - Tedium is subjective.
  14. I already have AT&T tv and they include the regular shows from those services (for now), but I'm finding that many of the popular shows are being moved to the newer subscription services, probably leaving either old repeats or "test" shows. At ~$6 per service per month, that's still a lot less than using a "live subscription service" from what I've seen, hence why I'm asking if it is possible to avoid the "live subscription service".
  15. I think they've settled on a credit card's worth of plastic ingested by the average person every year.
  16. That's part of an old Soviet joke.
  17. BTW - https://portmeirion.wales/
  18. There's a great story behind the story as well. McGoohan had a blowup with either the writer or director & took the whole thing over at some point. (not to mention that it is somewhat the continuation of "Secret Agent"/"Danger Man").
