4 Democrats voted against the bill. Sound bad? Every single Republican also voted against the bill. But yeah, let's pin it all on the Democrats. It's not like the bill could have passed if there were ANY support from Republicans. https://www.salon.com/2022/05/19/every--and-4-democrats--vote-against-bill-to-stop-big-oils-price-gouging-on-gas/

I worked retail for 14 years. A friend of mine was telling me what his current job was(basically refurbishing electric motors for wind turbines) and I expressed interest. He tells me that there are openings so I eventually applied and got the job. Most places will train you so don't be afraid if you don't have a skill set as long as you're capable of learning. Now for my unrelated gripe that I came here to post...20-30 minute long informative Youtube videos could could be summed up in 5 minutes or less. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Even if you were right, you're only looking at a small portion of the big picture. You may not realize this but regulations have been keeping you safe your entire life. Medicine, food and other everyday items are made safer with regulations. Companies will do a lot of shady shit to make a quick buck if there's nothing to stop them. You also seemed to have skipped over this. "They are in fact gouging at every opportunity and any time something doesn't seem to be going their way, they slow down production themselves and raise things even higher. " This is something they in fact do. They want to keep those share holders happy.

Everyone knew it was going to happen but not this soon. I wonder if Trump will toss him to the side like everybody else who has lost their usefulness to him. If so, will Musk turn on him? You know he has to have some dirt on Trump but he'd also likely be implicating himself.

Trump is an idiot with a fragile ego. I don't think that's going to happen. I think he's going to try to go full scorched earth.

I understand that there are laws that require disclosure of ingredients but it still sounds silly.

2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences

I think you hit the nail on the head. Ignorance is the biggest factor. People don't know how government works. People don't realize that even presidents have(or at least did...) limited powers. People don't know how the economy works. People don't know how capitalism works. People don't understand the power of speculation. People don't think about the damage COVID did to our infrastructure. People don't realize how COVID effected our economy. People don't realize bad actors are taking advantage of the whole situation and making things worse. Then of course they're ignorant of the corruption in politics. Sure, they know it's there but they don't know who's doing what and will vote against their best interest. You say you can fix ignorance which is true for some people, but others are too proud to admit they're wrong. -
