Platinum End 7 Startin' to get sick of your pacifistic ass, Mirai...

...Where the hell have you been these past nine weeks? ...Where the hell have you been these past one and a half years? I dunno, the vampire eating that baby in Hellsing Ultimate 5 was pretty bad, even if it was relatively minor and the background music totally killed the mood. ...Where the fuck have you been these past two or three decades!? Knowledge: it's a gift and a curse.

Shenmue the Animation 7 Attack on Titan: The Final Season 22 Made in Abyss 10

Ass Class is a Fuji TV anime, their episodes tend to run under 23 minutes compared to most other stations running between 23 and 24. I actually spoiled myself on Ikeda dying back when I could tolerate reading through the /co/ Toonami discussions, but I somehow forgot about it, so the moment it happened actually came as a surprise. Even if his shaky voice and being on the roof during his final call to Principal Asano did clue me in to that being a 99.9% possibility. [with a .1% margin of error]

I've been watching the shows exclusively through [as]'s online video service for the past month or two, so I don't really have to deal with the bump issue.

Am I the only one who thinks the wall-eyed, soulless look on absolutely everyone in the Ymir flashback, even before her people were conquered and enslaved, was unnecessary to the point of being ridiculous? It would almost be comical if it wasn't so pathetic. Though I'll give it this: it made the tragedy less depressing. Can't feel like shit watching it if the characters look like they don't give one. Oh, and also for the impact of Ymir finally gaining actual eyes before allowing Eren to begin the Rumbling.

The thing is, Tomoki Kyoda actually wanted a downer ending, or at least a bittersweet one with emphasis on the bitter, for the original series, but the execs forced him to go with a happy ending instead. As far as I can tell, every piece of E7 media to follow - Pocket Full of Rainbows, AO, and the Hi-Evolution movies - is him trying to achieve that original vision, and only tweaking everything else when met with the backlash. I even have a theory about the mysterious head writer credited for AO that ties into this belief. Basically, Dai Sato was originally brought on to be AO's head writer, much like he was with the original E7 way back. Something that was done to help counterbalance the negative mood Kyoda's own script brought to the original movie. But then Sato learned that Kyoda was not only bent on playing another reverse Uno card on E7's super-happy ending with the direction AO would go, but had enough creative control over this sequel that the execs wouldn't force their hand like they did back in 2005-06. So he dropped out of the project after laying the groundwork and writing the first three episodes, distanced himself from the project by name by taking on the pseudonym "Kakuto Takeyoshi" (or "Buratobito", according to this decade-old tweet here) - a name that hasn't been used for any other anime but AO - and never confirming it was him, and left Kyoda on his own to find another head writer. Kyoda then found Shou Aikawa (who I assume was cool with Kyoda's ideas for AO's final destination), he came on as AO's new head writer under the "story editor" title, and the rest is history. (As for why Sato came back by name to script Hi-Evolution? He probably mellowed out enough over time to humor Kyoda's desires.) Granted, it probably most likely isn't true, but it's a neat thought to entertain that I wanted to get out there before the truth, wherever it may be, proved otherwise. -

Ehh, I think this crowd has had enough lawlharems after Tenchi GXP went to 12 with the genre trappings. Overall, while the technical production was definitely a slight step up from the original, and the visual direction moreso, I doubt this sophomore installment was really needed, per se. Then again, based on today's new show announcements, we should just leave it to Demarco to make sequels of whatever he finds cool. The biggest disappointment, though, was Toshiyuki Tsuru not coming back to direct it. At some point during the wait between 3 and 4, I realized that this sequel was probably Takashi Sano's doing instead. [think we can get tower of god on toonami?]

While I don't mind more takes on FLCL, I'll admit that even I groaned at the prospect of more unnecessary sequels. Still, here's to hoping for the best with them. (And that they use some of the pillows' songs from their time at Avex.) Housing Complex C, on the other hand, is welcomed, though I'm not gonna put a super-huge amount of stock in it. We could very well end up having another Fena: Pirate Princess on our hands. -
I know these are all honest questions and that they were asked during periods that weren't commercial breaks where a quick search could confirm it, but... Luci Christian was announced as Joy's VA as far back as when the anime first premiered, and the credit is right there on the show's ANN page. It's like everyone here is allergic to that site for some reason when it comes to looking up who voiced what character.
