You know me. I'm not the kind who hates SAO on principle, or at all outside of those three episodes of Alicization: War of Underworld I griped about in the Trunks thread. But at the same time, I'm not the kind to watch franchise material of shows with Toonami presence unless I have really good reason to. As it turns out, getting invited out to see the second Progressive movie by your younger sister counts as "really good reason", so I wound up watching both Progressive movies over the span of three days. The first one is easily my favorite piece of SAO media I've seen for a number of reasons - the change in perspective from Kirito to Asuna, the added details surrounding the latter's experience leading up to and being trapped in SAO, and of course having pacing that doesn't feel like it has gaps in it - and was well worth clearing out my after-work, after-dinner schedule on Friday for. The second movie didn't have quite that same level of story hype as the first one, but like the music piece it was named after, it was a fun time with plenty of excitement to keep things from getting too boring. I'd be willing to sit through a third one. Now for some replies to Ben (spoiler-marked for overall consistency).
