MUTHAFUCKIN SAINT SEIYA '85 IS ON NETFLIX WITH A NEW DUB
PokeNirvash replied to MasqueradeOverture's topic in Anime & Manga
They probably valued consistency with the ADV dub over all else. Never mind, new cast for this one. -

I read the first chapter of a Webtoon comic once because of a cow kemonomimi girl featured in the ad for it. While the whole "guy unknowingly devastates an island through his actions relating to those of said force" was cool, the "undefeated delinquent fighter" main character was too annoying for me to bother reading past a test-watch. I don't even remember the name of the story now. Also, isn't Webtoon infamous for some of those jump-scare horror comics?

That goes without saying. ð

And this week: He has evolved beyond the need for standard or even non-standard fap material. Wasn't the flashback always Hinawa's? 1. The seizure warning was actually for Dragon Ball Super after their attempts to pass the Harding Test by decreasing the frame rate made the animation really choppy. I assume something in this week's Clover was considered an epilepsy trigger for someone, but I couldn't tell you what it was. 2. At this point it's become absurdly hilarious how whenever Sister Lilly has any screentime, you assume Asta's just gonna drop whatever he's doing and run all the way over to where she is to propose to her yet again. ð -

Replies to Angel from last week: Friendly reminder that Matt Hill (Ed from EEnE) once asked the voice director for Gundam SEED to kick him in the testicles before doing a "Jesus Yamato cries" scene to make the sobbing sound more natural than Soichiro Hoshi's impression of a dying horse. 1. I felt Fist of the North Star vibes from that scene myself. 2. Megumi's really come into her own in the past few episodes, hasn't she. 3. I don't think anyone's supposed to like Erina. I'm even convinced her own VA doesn't like her, otherwise she'd have gone for something besides a valley girl accent. 4. I beg to differ, salad is fucking amazing if you really dress it up. I have to agree there, either give Gordon subtitles or don't, and if you're gonna go for both, don't switch off the subtitles halfway through the episode, it just makes you look more inconsistent than you already are. -

ONE PUNCH MAN - It's disappointing that Madhouse didn't come back for round two, but at this point in the game, I'm just glad we have a second season of OPM at all. King being in the right place at the wrong time is the best possible explanation for Saitama's heroics having gone unnoticed until now. DR. STONE - I love these idiot geniuses so damn much. Suika is continued proof that Sarah Wiedenheft is one of the best new voice actresses in the stateside anime industry. But why the melon tho? FIRE FORCE - The answer was option 2, with the bonus of Tamaki having zero lines! Fire Force is at its best when it's about Obi, Hinawa and Benimaru, there's no disagreement about that. FOOD WARS! - Soma made it to passing grade at the literal last second, that's a real shounen bullshit move right there. Erina's sister-cousin is easily the better girl between the two relatives. Two-thirds passing is better than I would've expected for a purported training camp from the depths of Hell's kitchen. DEMON SLAYER - The animation is different but in a good way. The named characters we've met so far are all likeable despite their varied strength and initial intentions. Yuki Kajiura does the whole post-feudal Japanese folk music genre justice. So far, this show lives up to the stellar reputation it's set for itself these past six months. BLACK CLOVER - I like it whenever a show introduces a new character we've never met, only for it to turn out that the main character met them already. One of my anime concepts actually utilizes this in the second cour, so it was a pleasure to see Black Clover beat me to it in action first. BORUTO - OTN masks save lives, children. That's why Zabuza didn't kick the bucket until he took his off. NARUTO SHIPPUDEN - I have a feeling Tenten grabbing that special fan after Kinkaku's defeat isn't gonna amount to anything. After all, the world just isn't right unless Tenten is being useless. LUPIN THE 3RD - I haven't seen a solo Lupin episode since episode 10 of Fujiko's anime. Still, that was a fun murder-mystery with a good twist here and a red herring or two there. I'd watch the spinoff where he's solving mysteries with the cute meido (superior fetish to nuns, BTW). -
ONEPUNCH MAN SEASON 2 OCTOBER 12TH! (DEMON SLAYER TOO!)
PokeNirvash replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
You say that like I haven't seen my fair share of what you would consider "shitty" shows. But yeah, I've never had any interest in Fairy Tail. Too many characters with too many annoying designs, and surprisingly, the blatant Shanks expy is one of the ones I can actually tolerate looking at for long periods of time. -
Well, the 221 is clearly a reference to Kabukicho's 221st Avenue, where Bar Pipecat and the detectives tenement are located, but even I can't explain what possessed them to trade out a standard O for a degree sign in the "number" abbreviation.

Based on the critical semi-backlash I've seen regarding this show so far - between the drag queen supporting character, the less-than-flattering treatment of what few female characters there are, and Sherlock being almost as quirky as New Girl (which is still too much) - Kabukicho Sherlock definitely looks like it's going to be one of those shows that I enjoy despite any and all arguments that I shouldn't, and let me tell you, I really loved watching the first episode and I would (and plan on) watching it again. By the end of the year, it'll join W'z and Fire Force in my "Fuck You, I Liked It" trifecta for 2019. Assuming it isn't there already, that is. ð

ONEPUNCH MAN SEASON 2 OCTOBER 12TH! (DEMON SLAYER TOO!)
PokeNirvash replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Ohhhhh. Spoiler. I think too hard about things. -
To begin, a show from this season that had decent hype, and was met in various corners with indifference or disdain for relevant reasons, but in spite of all that managed to be enjoyable enough for me to consider it good. In other words, it's the Kinky Kunoichi of this season. Case No. 221: Kabukicho Sherlock #1: Hello Detectives So that's the format. Feel free to tweak it for yourself as you will.

Natural causes at life expectancy. If that's not an option, then reenacting one of Jam-Orbital's pieces with the giant gags that could dislocate a regular person's jaw.

ONEPUNCH MAN SEASON 2 OCTOBER 12TH! (DEMON SLAYER TOO!)

I don't even know what that logo's supposed to be, so how can I be spoiled on it? ð€ -
Greetings, all who bothered to click this link, be it out of either preplanned intent or mere curiosity. I, alongside a couple of others from the old Adult Swim Message boards - some of whom are still around, others of which have settled for Twitter and other sites - shared a common interest: giving individual anime episodes TV content ratings in the same way Turner Standards & Practices does to the shows that air on [as] and Toonami. I've been doing this ultra-autistic hobby since 2007 or whereabouts, but in 2014, I made it even weirder by using Photoshop to edit the TV ratings I enjoyed so much into screenshots of anime episodes, to demonstrate how they would appear were they being broadcast on one of the Turner networks. Some of my fellow content rating connoisseurs at the time joined in, and while the number of screenshots has decreased with time, I still express interest in the hobby, both in general and specific to the screencaps. There was a thread set up a while back that was designed with the purpose of discussing content ratings for shows we were watching at the time, but it wound up being more like those anime blogs where they talk the episode's plot through while praising and/or criticizing it. (And with ridiculously long lag times between episodes too...) After a year of inactivity, I decided to revive the thread, but with a twist: instead of merely describing the episodes and what happens as an intro to the ratings and screencaps, this time we'll focus just on the ratings and screencaps, with references to anything else beyond that being relegated to the general Anime Watching thread. In other words: thoughts go there, ratings and screencaps go here. My inaugural inclusion to this revival of sorts will come later today (or tonight, assuming it takes me more time than usual to get it together). Until then, rate away, my fellow aficionados. [because stan is a stupid term]
