This is probably the first Junji Ito adaptation to really get the visuals down, which might be why it took so damn long. This is a visually beautiful series which really manages to sell the horror of what's going on with the spirals. It's also a damning indictment of the short-sightedness of Zaslav to sell Crunchyroll to Sony when it's clear anime is keeping up with all the stuff on Max. The only two shows ahead of Uzumaki today in top views are The Penguin and John Oliver.

Scavenger’s Reign getting its face beaten into permanent cancelation by a show that seems more and more likely to get more seasons from Netflix in a few years is bad enough. The kids show not only having to go against a show targeting the same audience, but one on network television is going to be a massacre.

Should be interesting to see where Uzumaki picks up the majority of its viewership given the positive reception. So the rest of the year is going to be mostly in-house stuff I bet. Rooster Fighter is either late this year, or early next year. December we likely get Invisible Ratings Girl, which is good, because it gets to debut the same time as this.
