The current lineup is about the worst I've seen, they'd better get something going.

The lighting and scenery look good, but they're making it dark to try and hide the flaws with the CGI. I have a feeling we won't see much sunlight in this.

I still don't understand how CGI technology hasn't been able to mimic anime art styles for a fraction of the cost of actual hand drawn animation. Does it really require us to develop quantum computers powered by nuclear fusion for this? Are we going to colonize Mars before we figure this out?

Actually Blizzard circa 2003 was putting out CGI cutscenes that looked 10x better than this. It looks ok... just really dated. It looks better than Gen Lock but that's a really low bar.

He has apparently become a fan favorite for his terrible performance. Supposedly he's a musician who has never voice acted before.

I've seen clips and read reviews, supposedly it actually has a few redeeming qualities. The artwork and voice acting is just bad though. There's a surprising amount of gore, and it just doesn't fit with the art style. The ham fisted in your face "wokeness" pushing the "message" was never going to go over well with many anime fans so there's a lot of people that are going to review bomb this without giving it a watch. But yeah, you can have little girls fighting without having it look like crap.

This lineup does kind of have a "this is the end of the line" feel to it.

Look I know you like everything, but Yashahime is hot garbage and people don't like it. It's critical reception on MAL is ranked about.. 2500 spots lower than Fena, which was already really bad. Food Wars is awful but people actually like it for some reason. Maybe the foodgasms and partial nudity?

Its all up to the writing. Most people aren't that familiar with it, they have a lot of leeway and no toxic fanbase ready to jump down their throats over whatever direction they decide to go. But as you can see with Fena, good writing is rare.
