The thing with this ruling, and many others recently, is SCOTUS is telling them exactly how to get around the fact that the President isnt a King. If you want things done, Congress can act and pass a law. Thats how our system works. POTUS cant just dictate things, and agencies dont have unlimited powers. Congress has the ability, and authority, to pass laws and rules that can address things like bump stocks.

Dont be surprised if we see activity really pick up in southern Gaza in the coming days. Sounds like the rescued hostages have given first hand accounts of tunnels, as well as seeing Sinwar surrounded by other hostages in these tunnels. If true, then the IDF is likely going to ramp up pressure to get to these tunnels and rescue the remaining hostages and get Sinwar.

The real test is going to be what happens when the F-16s hit the field. Can Ukraine use them effectively to hit Russian assets and potentially disrupt the ability for Russia to press into Ukraine, or not? Depending on how the F-16s are used they could have the potential to disrupt Russian efforts enough to give Ukraine the advantage. No one has air superiority right now, and if either side can establish that then they will have a massive advantage over the other. Drones are one thing, modern jets are an entirely different beast. If, and thats a gigantic IF, Ukraine can use the F-16s to establish air superiority in the regions where they are fighting then they will be able to push back on the Russians in a big way. Its hard to overstate just how important air superiority is in modern war.

I would be careful reading too much into special elections. They are notorious for having wild outcomes. That said, theres also an extremely clear pattern across the entire country that the more MAGA a candidate is, the worse they tend to do.

This is a major reason why Trump, or whoever is the GOP nominee, has a very good chance at winning. On the issues people are really sliding toward the GOP. If it wasnt for Trump this race would likely be a cakewalk for the GOP. But, well, Trump. Biden opened the floodgates for illegal immigration, and people are sick of it. We just saw the same thing play out in Europe with their elections, and we look poised to do the same thing here.

And thats exactly what people who use the Hamas casualty numbers are doing, pushing Hamas propaganda numbers.

The WaPo has been a joke for a long time, but this one is really something else. Im not even convinced it isnt satire at this point. The WaPo may be trying to be the next Onion or Bee with headlines like this.

The IDF has released some video of the successful rescue operation. Its some remarkable video, and as expected it cuts right at the heart of the Hamas propaganda. Whats really great is the fist-bump moment. While taking fire the IDF soldier fist-bumps the hostage saying to stay calm that they are being rescued. Truly a great rescue operation. I really hope we see more of these operations in the coming days and weeks.

All this pearl clutching by people over the successful hostage rescue really says a lot. There's also the rather inconvenient fact that the easiest way to not get killed like this is to not hold hostages in your house, not fight against rescuers, and the biggest one of all, not taking hostages in the first place.

If you are holding a hostage in your house, you are not a civilian If you are guarding that hostage so they cannot escape, you are not a civilian If you actively work with Hamas to conceal the location of a hostage, you are not a civilian, And, this is a big one here, if your first reaction upon hearing that the IDF is launching a raid to rescue a hostage is to run to that location with the specific goal of interfering or stopping that operation, you are not a civilian. This also is a good reminder that none of this would be happening if Hamas were to surrender. All of the suffering is completely the fault of Hamas. Want it to end? Demand Hamas surrender and release the hostages.

This really does just keep getting better and better.

She was supposedly "lost" by Hamas and was not going to be included in any sort of peace deal. Absolutely amazing that they pulled this off. Not only did they rescue the 4 hostages, but they killed between 40-100 Hamas terrorists as well. The hostages were being held in civilian homes, not even in tunnels. Hamas also shot at the hostages as they were being rescued. Unfortunately one IDF solder died during the operation. But he will go down as a hero for helping to get these people home and wiping out more Hamas savages. Well done Israel. Keep going!
